Alterhumanity is so beautiful to me and I’m genuinely so shocked that it took me til this stage of my life to learn about it and become involved in the community.

I came across otherkin communities when I was like 11/12 and I was just so infatuated with hearing about the experiences of vampires, angels, dragons, werewolves, mermaids, and so many more non/alterhumans, but I was also really nervous about the social implications of IDing as nonhuman in some way so i just. Pretended it wasn’t there. And it was like that up until now in adulthood where I feel like I’ve finally found a piece of myself that’s been missing for years.

And holy shit it’s like a massive weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I’m not ignoring parts of myself that I was embarrassed about anymore, I feel more like myself day after day. I’m shifting more because I’m doing things that feel affirming, I’m getting outside more, I’m learning more about nature and animals and cycles of life, and even spirituality.

Idk maybe I’m just in my feelings about it but I’m really happy that this community exists, that it’s here. We aren’t alone :) so thank y’all for being who you are!! Never stop!!

Ok so slightly nsfw topic I guess but i went to the Ren fair with my gf and one of the first places we stopped was a leather shop. They had some really cool pieces and I started looking at their bracelets and found a really pretty red one for like 20 bucks which was a steal for this place, but it was pretty long and I didn’t really know how to properly put it on my wrist So I get it and I ask for help in putting it on and bro. They took my girlfriends hands and. Showed me how to turn them into handcuffs 😭😭😭I was like OHHHHH. This is not a regular bracelet! 🙂🙂🙂🙂

Anyways tldr I can wear it like a collar. Feels pretty awesome.

Accepting my identity as a therian has been freeing but also… kinda defeating in the same way?

Like there IS a word for the way that I am. There ARE people like me. There IS a community that gets me and accepts me, and it’s helping me accept myself.

But at the same time, I’m now recognizing that this is it-THIS is the reason that I am the way that I am, and no amount of trying to change myself to fit in with humans is going to change that. Idk maybe it’s just a personal thing I need to work on like self acceptance and all that but Im both really excited and really nervous to come more into who I am.

One of my dreams is to travel the world and document the different ways that humans and animals interact, and working dogs are such a huge part of that.

Guys. I realized one thing that immediately makes me shift or feel way more dog is just. Jingly sounds. Like keys or tags on a collar. Makes my ears perk up or some shit

sometimes when i think about forests and fields of wildflowers i get a deep ache inside of me. a lack of something that in this life was never there. i never truly understood what that meant.

i belong there; i should be that. i am the forest and the fields and the grass and the flowers and the sky and the stream.

being a wolf, being a dog, being an animal reminds me of my innate connection to the world around me, the nature around me. every time i get that ache, i think about myself being a creature and i get a little shift and it satisfies that ache. and instead of longing for home, i feel at home.

sometimes i have to remind myself that i am more than human. i feel human in lots of different ways, but i also feel canine in ways that might directly contradict being human. i am allowed to be contradictory; being a wolf doesn’t cancel out being a human.

i am me, human and nonhuman, in this body, having an individual experience. i exist within the boundary of human and animal—i am liminal, i am beautiful, i am me.
