Colonnade Hatches

Here:

Four very... varied hatchlings.

Some rather rare color combos, too.

Positives: I'm not too tempted to keep them, and I'm sure they're someone's cup of tea.

Added the inspiration for their names to their bios, because why not? If I had actually finished those darn hatchery graphics, I could even add a nifty little button for the Colonnade!

Other Activities

Today, we're checking for suitable site Skins! Lore who? Never heard of her! (I know how to get back into working on it, I really do. I just... can't... d o i t.) Phragmae through to F Pearlcatchers, except for the second page of Skins in the DB. Going through a breed's pose at once is significantly easier than checking for each dragon one by one.

Brewed an Irregular Nekomata, Cauldron Crawler, and Glam Nudibranch. Unawakened familiars!

40 minutes of wrecking in the Wreckage, no chests... I guess RNG is not in my favor today. :] At least I got some food.

Finally got a Citrine Flourish Eye Piece for Corripheye!

Project Progress

The formerly unnamed G1 Bogsneak took on the name of Chonete (named after the Choneteuthis) and chose this combination of genes. I adore the F Bogsneak pose, I could stare at them all day, and this one is no different. The way Thylacine works on the primary is immensely satisfying.

The Everlux were named - Discito (from Discitoceras, pictured above), and Aphelae (from Aphelaeceras), and Discito had their genes applied.

I found a very promising branch of cephalopod name donors with these. Discito was chosen as an allusion to the knowledge-seeking nature of Everlux, and Aphelae related to this Everlux's galactic scry.

Succumbed to the urge to participate in the BSJ coloring contest, began working on a submission (traditional mixed media, because coloring is precisely the stage I haven't moved on to yet digitally), came back to it later... Oh Lightweaver, is it too late to stop now? I am not too pleased. I only have a few more days, I don't want to spend all day working on it... I might switch to Krita, but why even bother?

Colonnade Hatches

Plus this wyrm that I'm keeping for now.

Oooh, I'm in love with this batch, very difficult to decide whom to let go. Rather fitting for Brightshine, too!

The more I look at them... Yes. These are the Sunbeam Ruins dragonified. Pearlcatchers, even!

I couldn't help it, I needed to procrastinate by adding graphics.

So, so, so satisfying. Visually pleasing. Wow.

The thought of themed hatches. Lore.

I had hatchery lore ideas a while ago - themed after the different locations in my lore; or based on aesthetics (Light, tropical, desert, etc.); or themes for nests.

Dragon Action

Keeping the Obelisks busy, Kaleidoscope x Wintermoon and Evren x Astralic began nesting today.

Shortly after, Auchias, Haestivol, and Amettah joined a new clan as well.

Scrying?

Plan? Lore. Reality? Scrying the Fathoms. Oh, yes, I'm so tired of scrying...? I'm much less perfectionist about it now, though. I chose to make note of the accent colors for each potential gene and will probably try to get something pleasant and affordable out of my favorites. Trying to move on to this next step, though... maybe not now. If anything, I should get back to crafting outfits.

Brightshine Brightshine Brightshine

Yes, I can use that lantern. It's versatile.

Someone predicted Cerdae as this round's familiars. While I generally prefer birbs (gryphons), I know they'll be just as well-designed. And this one makes a lot of sense for Light.

Brightshine for Cirrus and Everlux? Perfect, precisely the breeds that were on my mind the most lately. As expected, while it would fit my Everlux, I prefer my scries. I love how the Lightweaver face fins look on them, though. Also, the individual sparks flowing in the Cirrus manes!

Oh, oooooh, new sceeeene. A new look at life in Light. Ooooh. The details! Ooooooh, look, look, new columns spotted! New columns! They're different. They're Composite. Featuring a sun motive! OOOOOOOh-

I'm so up for lair scenes.

The rays are okay, too. A darker aesthetic.

Beautiful skins, of course. Some chaotic observations:

The Sunscourge: I don't have an Aberration yet, but this is one of the skins I'd want to use on them. It tickles the lore senses.

Couronne de Lumiere: Rather subtle, I can see this fitting a lot of dragons.

Scrivener: Not my personal aesthetic, but I applaud the creativity!

Radiant Scribe: Doesn't fit the one Banescale F I have, but I love it.

Cirrus skins! Yeah! Light aesthetic!

I might have a Coatl for In circles. Maybe.

More Everlux skins! YES. I don't think they quite fit my Everlux, but I will definitely have a use for them in the future. I need to stock up on skins for my favorite ancients.

Lanternlea Fisher: Wonderful colors, I love to see the aquatic aspects of Light represented.

Oh my, Bookwyrm. This one could go with two thirds of my Imperials, but I haven't gone through all site skins for them yet, so nothing definitive. A sample: (the last Imp is a potential keeper, and this skin might just sway me)

Same with For a Drop.

I'm still looking for a skin for my Sandsurge, but this one isn't quite what I want for Clarity.

Trick of the Light could be a good match for Augura.

Acquisitions & Activities

Twilight Sylvan Filigree for Corripheye: acquired.

Spare Inventory Crate: Welder's Mask and Accent: A Night in the Clouds. I welcome new skins, and this one I had marked as a favorite before, anyway.

Oh Lightweaver, I got a chest from gathering already! Dustwyrm! Everlux skin! Woooo!

Some mild grinding in Silk-Strewn Wreckage, rather unsuccessful. But it's so smooth at level 25 now.

Thoughts

Gah, help me, I love this site.

I just noticed the coloring contest for Light.

I want to go shopping for dragons and have some new exciting pairs. Granted, I'll probably just lurk on the fodder floor, maybe look for specific breeds or a gene or two. What to expand?

Colonnade Hatches

How did I end up hatching two almost identical dragons from this pair? Come on, RNG, I bred them for variety!

Nonetheless, I continue to be thrilled by the prospect of their offspring. Surprises!

Experimental. But Chorus still feels relatively fresh, so in a more positive sense.

A summer hatch. Two wheat fields and a coral reef?

Etaro and Malax found a new home through the Colonnade!

So did Haidure and Haestice.

Janatolei and Sehero followed a special request.

Scry & Shop

That's it, folks! I scried, I supplied, tomorrow I shall apply. I still have both more Treasure I could spend this Dom and more than a few dragons left to scry, but I don't wanna anymore.

I was about to make some fancy graphics for these before realizing that it would way too much time and that a bunch of them will be showcased tomorrow(?) with their new genes, anyway.

Donele gets Jester, for Boa/Jester/Flecks;

Eledona gets Peacock, for Crystal/Noxtide/Peacock.

Everlux M will be decked out in Gem genes. I can't help it, I NEED Throne.

As for the Everlux F, I'm not too happy with primary, but I want to use Paradise and most secondary genes don't fit.

Bogsneak G1 gets Saturn, to avoid Gem genes.

Arysa gets Peregrine.

Ponteixites gets Ribbon. They're all very nice, but dragon money.

Leaf gets Smoke.

Calahan gets Polkadot.

Senet gets Ridgeback'd (although they'd make a gorgeous Spiral, Nocturne and Mirror (would be cheaper and breeds I don't have yet), and to a lesser degree Pearlcatcher, too).

I got Sage's summer items (minus the Familiars, I got them last year). Finally, Gonatid can have Summer Swelter!

Bought Guardian and Tundra Breed Change Scrolls as well as Clown for the Den tasks completed; I ended up completing a whole eight of them. The new ones require grinding in Forgotten Cave.

And, of course, I got the necessary genes and two pieces of apparel, the other two still need to stock.

Procured a Demure Faderose Locket and a Sky Blue Tail Bangle for Corripheye.

Assorted Thoughts

I want to make art for the Elemental Holidays, encapsulating how they color the months in which they take place.

I need more unawakened Familiars.

I am stoked for Brightshine! New Familiar? Check. Gorgeous Skins? Check. More items? Check. Gene expansions? Check. Other news (Sophie)? ...maybe?

Dragon Departures

Pondaran was adopted.

Caxygno sold on the AH.

Scrying: Close to the End (Edge)

Glimmer would fit Vahathero, but it's a minuscule improvement/difference. I'll leave it in the bio, but I don't intend to go through with the change.

Iridote would look good with Starmap, but I'd rather not spend the Gems. Skins and/or apparel it shall be!

Same for Sweetthorn. While I don't like to breed dragons with Sparkle, I don't know whether I prefer Smoke on Sweetthorn, and Soap is expensive and could be bred by dragons I own, unfortunately without Arcane eyes. The change isn't absolutely necessary, so I'll leave this choice for another time.

Did I plan to finish scrying my Progens? No, but here we go.

The Donele dilemma: Facet or Jester?

It didn't take too long to choose the scry for Eledona. One Gem gene each should be reasonable, they deserve it. Noxtide is just fine. Which tertiary? Firefly, Sparkle, Peacock, or Spines?

The Everlux F might look good in the hatchling Skin? Nah, I want them to be able to breed, and avoid spending even more on a Scroll of Eternal Youth.

Why do I want to scry every single dragon with Noxtide now?

The options for the Everlux M have been narrowed down to Throne + Constellation/Noxtide + Glitch/Paradise/Mistral/(Wavecrest).

If the devs don't forget it, Brightshine should be incoming for Everlux, but it's unlikely to affect my plans. I'm kind of set on having Paradise and Glitch, and I prefer line-breaking tertiaries that interact with the dragon a bit more.

Colonnade Hatches

Plus this beb that I'm keeping for now.

It turns out I just hatched my first XXX, as I got the achievement. I thought I had already hatched a Cyan one from my unwieldy project pair.

Pleased with the variation in primary and secondary genes, but this pair can only produce more Pink Koi, a characteristic not uncommon in my clan. And all the fun is in the various accents of Koi. Nonetheless, a nice change of pace!

More Dragon News

Put Oncocerid x Polyelas on the nest for some randomness. I crave novelty. (Uh-oh)

Finally updated the breeding schedule. I desperately need to stop keeping it in a text file, these tables are becoming ridiculous.

I think I just unintentionally put 2 and 2 together and found the perfect scry for my custom Progen while having a quick glance at my previous scries, which didn't include this combination?

This? Like, hello? The way Boa and Jester match, and the secondary doesn't look obnoxiously dark? Yellow-range Flecks, one of the genes I wanted to introduce to my gene pool, anyway?

Facet is pretty neat too, though. Oh, and Flair. Oooh, wow, Noxtide.

Hey, I'm getting somewhere with deciding which secondary gene to use on Arysa, and it might not even require Gems! Through comparing which genes are already represented in Caribbean on my dragons and scrying the M Tundra pose, I narrowed them down to Noxtide or Peregrine.

(+) matchy yellow accents

(+) sea creature vibes

Peregrine:

(-) empty space in the middle (but could be fixed with Skins and apparel)

(-) does the blue match any other part of the body?

There is a crucial lack of aquatic site Accents for Tundra F. Do they ever get Skins for Wavecrest, especially in recent years? Even water-hating Ridgebacks have more aquatically-themed Skins to choose from.

Thoughts of Action

I should lurk on the AH once I'm less busy and Light Dom is over (ergo: I know how much Trrrreasure I needed). Maybe do some gene rankings beforehand, to ascertain favorites and underrepresented genes. Also, Cirrus scrying once gene corrections have gone in (almost forgot about those).

Speaking of achievements: I'd like to dedicate some time to completing those that aren't long-term efforts.

Hey ho, a pink parade out of my lair! I narrowed the amount of dragons that will be thrown into den Den down to three, and all of these are free to leave and explore the world.

Sartaemisia left through the AH and is now a beautiful Nocturne, to my surprise.

Scrying

Scrying time! G1s are up, and I'd love to use the incoming Dom discounts to move the Everlux along. Subject: Everlux F.

Ugh, the turquoise primaries are all either without accent colors or with weird accent colors. And how am I supposed to make it fit the secondary color, twilight?

I want line-breaking tertiaries and genes unique to Everlux.

Colonnade Hatches

Pretty dragons, but not the kind that I'd like to keep.

They couldn't be any more different, in terms of color patterns. Malax is almost an XXX, Caxygno is matchy, but far from it.

Breeding

I chose Leah x Anclyotin. Oncocerid x Polyelas and Poterio x Beaches are ready to breed as well, but I enjoy the novelty of this pairing, and I'd like to breed Anclyotin with Corrosion again, too. Four eggs, hoping for some benevolent RNG.

Breeding combo sheet done, as grueling as ever. I still need to take them into account and make a new schedule.

Cleaning

Worked my way through some of the pink offspring in my lair before reaching the end of my definitive decision-making. I have a nest to hatch today, so I'd prefer to post them tomorrow. These three here are ready to go, so far.

Buttoning

I decided to paste whatever WIP I had into my About Me, then went through some of the button spreadsheets again, before losing myself in a maze of labels. Ahem.

Colonnade Hatches

Tapegen feels very familiar, but I haven't hatched the same combination before.

The Pool

Astarnei left through the Auction House.

I chose to go for Histioteu x Adelaide, a fun pairing with some range.

I need to finish updating my breeding combo sheet and make a new calendar. Dragons I adopted recently are coming off their cooldowns now, so I could scry their offspring directly at the nests.

Progress in Lore?

I feel up to the task and compelled once again. Picking up where I left off, I researched how to create fictional philosophies that are unique, not re-skins of real world philosophical schools. I think I'll post what I found in a dedicated post, once I'm done.

I made it through those out of my... 4427 open tabs (digital doom pile) that pertained to creating fictional philosophical schools - not too many resources hit the mark of what I'd like to read up on -, but stopped midway through a quick look a real world philosophies because of overwhelm. I shall avoid a deep dive into philosophy.

Difficulties exacerbated by: It seems I have forgotten all the FR lore I read in February. And: the inherent relation between worldbuilding and the characters inhabiting the world; I need to dress my dragons first, to know who they are, and then let them be the guiding forces behind events and specific groups.

More Thoughts

I want to scry, I want to sort through the hatchlings I put aside, I want to go do lore things...

I'm considering starting a collection of Ancients. The Everlux are hatched, but I need to gene them first before I can breed them (if they mesh well) and look for more. Dusthides are the only other G1s that I have, but I haven't hatched them yet. I'd love to think about some Cirri, since they're the most recent, and list gene and color combinations that I find desirable (goals!). My favorites, however, in addition to Everlux, are Sandsurge and Aether. Scrying for specific genes is fun, but I could also lurk on the AH.

I'd like to participate more in the hype around breed releases.

Dragon Movements

Gohaptor left through the AH, Jenlisea departed from the Colonnade.

Presentation

I began fixing my signature. I know what the end result is supposed to be, but I haven't made the graphics yet and most links would lead to empty pages.

I still need to make buttons in different colors, and the placeholder image could do with having a border, but... it's a placeholder, c'mon, you've got better things to do.

There are some aesthetically unpleasant empty spaces along the sides. While I could find more buttons, I expect to have more important things to link to in the future. Alternatively, before I happen upon such "more important things", I could fill the gaps with interests, although I couldn't decide - I don't have that much space, excluding anything makes it feel incomplete. Only Yes, surely; but that alone wouldn't encompass nearly enough.

Anyway, I spent the evening collecting more buttons and throwing them at my very WIP About Me.

Le Grind

Grinded for some more meat.

Finally got the Death's-Head Stag (multiple, actually), and... a Water Egg?!

Ergo: Two Den slots unlocked, now I need one more Centaur Berserker.

Final results: about six stacks of Salted Game and 96 Bundles of Haunchmeat. The final grinding session was very lucrative.

Colonnade Hatches

Yes, I'm ready to give this pair a break. Opal x Koi is nice, but I've had enough of Pink Flair and its black accents.

Anyway, one more nest of relatively good-looking Ridgebacks not too closely resembling previous hatches!

It is now time to decide which ones of the limbo'ed pink dergs you want to keep. Go on. Do it.

This pair came off the nest, now we're giving Taino and Eodero a try. Not the most promising combination, but different nonetheless.

Graphics

I want buttons and banners and badges NOW. I don't really know how to go about constructing them, and these sketches didn't really clarify the process, and I'll still have to decide which version I want... Yes, I could make all of them, but I have to start somewhere.

Coliseum Grinding

Because this is what we're doing now, apparently.

Started out in Crystal Pools, realized that I can make it through encounters in Harpy's Roost, then the Ghostlight Ruins, and actually the Mire, too. Donele and Eledona reached level 24, Schindleria 22, and I beat every venue at least once now (achievements!).

Should I... continue? Is 25 in reach before the end of Sunparched Prowl?

Eek, I did. Progens to 25, Schindleria to 23. I... trained my Progens all the way up to 25, without any builds, stones, etc. That's... remarkably, uh, cumbersome? Kudos for stamina, though, I guess.

Ugh. So many beautiful Soapy dergs up for adoption.

Hm. Will there be any updates next week? It's been a busy couple of days, and Brightshine is coming up, but the week would be empty, otherwise. I'm not begging for MORE, though I'm eager to see what's next.

IT IS DONE! The first project (a G1, specifically)! Meet Eosaph, named after Eoscaphites, while trying to avoid having more Spirals with -scaphi- in their names.

This is a momentous occasion - someone left my projects page. Much wow.

I can't get enough of Caribbean Noxtide.

Will you be bred? Should you be bred? Do I need more Runes in the gene pool? Nah. You'll stay denned for now, I don't want to tackle my breeding spreadsheet.

Dragon Movements

Holdagon and Pothocan left through the AH. They seem to be destined for life in other clans, and I wish them well!

Scrying?

Today I shall scry.

Okay, I'm not really in the scrying mindset. G1s, from the ground up, are overwhelming; I still can't decide on a secondary gene for this G1 Bogsneak; and Arysa is still gorgeous, and Noxtide looks fantastic on her, but I just gened another dragon with Caribbean Noxtide and the other genes look amazing, too.

Coliseum Grinding

So, instead, I grinded for EXP. Donele and Eledona reached level 23 in Rainsong Jungle, then Schindleria jumped to 21 in Boreal Wood. It's much easier to grind in the latter venue, and unless it's an encounter of four, I usually make it through Crystal Pools - which, if I'm not mistaken, grants about 1700 EXP per victory in my current situation, so I might, maybe, MAYBE try to get to level 24. I need Foo's Eye for an Irregular Nekomata, anyway.

Colonnade Hatches

Hatchlings from the project pair:

We've seen it all before. Another close XXX, having had XXXs before, we've had Multigazes, the same color combinations four times and more, but not a single Grapefruit primary.

Lemon is close, but ultimately not what I'm after. Harlequin looks good on them, but I shall not keep them.

These names are getting ridiculous.

I think I'm single-handedly driving up the populations of these color combinations.

Speaking of colors, I had a blast recently checking the rarity of each of my permanent dragons, and I might start doing so for my hatchlings, too. Not for bragging rights, but for wonderful, glorious statistics.

Another, albeit very tentative thought on the matter: I'll have to check the qualifications and formalities first, but I could send some of them off to the Rare Recovery Program.

Breeding

Pair rematch #1: Maxuro and Aulameta. Expected results: Some dark blue Imps with Koi - nice, yet too similar to other dragons of mine; still, some variation. A tentative two eggs.

Baldwin

Argh, I need Silver Muck, but all I get is Copper.

There we go, finally. At least one Nekomata, before we embark on a quest for Gold Muck.

Baldwin level 20!(!!) Finally, Pinstripe for my beloved ...unnamed... dragon!

...aaand I don't have most of the ingredients. Got some Snail Husk off the AH (hungry dragons won't let me scavenge), currently working my way up to Imbued Sulfur, then questing for Gold Muck, so that I can let Baldwin work for ten hours while I'm offline and asleep.

Sunparched Antics

Coliseum fighting to get my fighters to level 25. This is going to take a while. I managed to get through an encounter in Crystal Pools, but only one; it relies too heavily on luck and requires too much strategy to be sustainable. Harpy's Roost is nigh impossible.

Grinded the Training Fields for the Vista and food (and one additional Death's-Head Stag for the Den, unsuccessfully), and I. Got. It.

Completed the Den task, sent Hadelte (the hatchling I kept after all) off to slumber, and now I'm stuck with the Breed Change: Tundra task. Thank the Eleven they're not too expensive, I might try to grab one during Light Dom. And the Guardian one, too, I just saw that I still need to complete that one.

Now I can spend the rest of Sunparched not getting wiped out in Rainsong Jungle.

Assorted Thought(s)

The moment when you see dragons up for adoption that remind you of dragons you hatch, and then find out that they're offspring of dragons you adopted out. I hope my dragons are proud parents, seeing how far their children have come, paving their own ways all across Sornieth!

Adopted out Pescriptur and Peliece. Very beautiful dragons, very pleased to have found new homes for them. That means the whole nest of four has conveniently left my clan now, considering that their parents Prentice and Bonnie will be breeding again sometime soon.

Excitement for Sunparched Prowl: Rising. This time will be different, I promise. I'll really make an effort towards level 25...

At any rate, I don't have any to-be exalts to level, and I'm in desperate need for some meat. I'm looking forward to not having to spend gathering turns on hunting for the foreseeable future - my dragons don't need a lot of meat, but I find it rather hard to come by.

Ha! My chance to get rid of the HibDen task. Which absolutely didn't work out for Springswarm, but I already participated in Sunparched once. Checking... yup, I need one more Vista.

I think I'm done scrying the G1 Everlux M. I don't remember where I left off (I know I had stopped before trying to work with some other primary genes), but it's quite intimidating, I have a very lengthy list, and it seems fine.

On another note, I might not scatter the G1 Fathoms, they have rare colors that seem workable enough. Plus, some challenge! I don't need them for breeding, anyway, so the genes won't matter.

Mmm, yes, Berry primary is a bit inconvenient, but there are some good combos hiding in that Fathom F. I never knew Sand primary looked that good.

Dragon News

Adopted Dinothe.

Love at first sight. I don't normally fall for XXXs, but she is PERFECT. She looks so unique, just... the perfect Snapper I've been waiting for. I love the moment when such a dragon comes along.

I mean, please, please consider the blue-purple-teal accents? And how perfect the Snapper pose is for these genes? She reminds me of some neon dinosaur franchise (which might not exist, or maybe it was a dress-up game, but it's there, in my pool of references... I'd love to go down that rabbit hole, but I can't take my eyes off of heeeeer~).

Name: Since she's only my third Snapper and the previous two came pre-named, I needed a new group of cephalopods for this breed. Not wanting to overthink it to much, I aimed to find a species of large cephalopods (kraken-esque) and picked an alternative name for Architeuthis, Dinoteuthis - not too formulaic, and it relates to her lizard aesthetic.

March 30 birthday, too, which is neat and new.

I might breed her in the future, but chose not to add her to the schedule for now.

Both Maize primaries; it's that odd RNG coincidence yet again. They really do look like siblings.

All the Spirals from this pair had Blend so far, and I don't like it on them too much.

Pastel eyes parent -> Pastel eyes child. Very matchy!

Maize Ribbon is neat, it wasn't on my radar at all.

Further Shenanigans

Bits of the next breeding schedule in the works. I'm mixing up some stale pairs for this round (mainly the pink ones, although Bolitaena is breeding with Shuma again because I don't have a good match for Bolitaena). This should also allow for more variation in the breeds I hatch.

It seems everyone is coming off their cooldown right now. I'm considering opening up a fourth nest, not to be used continuously (because of space, but mainly food). Alternatively, I'll breed available pairs whenever I have a vacant nest, regardless of their cooldowns.

Continuing to brew familiars; Amphitheres, Serpentas...

Very grateful for the EXP and unawakened familiars, it makes bonding and brewing feel a bit more worthwhile, and I'm moving closer to Level 20. I need Pinstripe, I want to finish my first G1!

Sophie Ponderings

Yeah for more NPCs; I love her design, too. Everlux! I adore seeing dragons in action, it fills Sornieth with life. I want more lore on her!

I'm getting the odd Animal Crossing vibe or two, but that's probably just me. Gracie?

Admittedly, the mechanic itself isn't terribly exciting. But hey, more stuff to advance in! More sources of apparel! And apparel I like it is.

Misc. Thoughts

My perma lair pages are getting a bit crowded; I might move some that won't be bred into the den (ASAP) or claim page 3 for permas as well, ergo, change the code everywhere and remember to use the new version going forward.

I need to fix my signature. I also need to make hatchery graphics, but I'm still working on that "quick", "low-effort" piece of horse art that was supposed to introduce me to digital coloring and shading (it's a black horse, too, so... well done, brain). I want to be more active on the forums.
