One of Best lectures of Shaykh Hamza Yusuf | Finding Balance in life
youtube
This was a very knowledgeable lecture. But it was also really funny.
So at one point the real Mark Hanson really showed. Cuz he was like some people have faces that should be covered. So that was kind of funny. That wasn't very Islamic but it was funny.
And then another point he said that we are aliens. And I just feel like that's really something that my husband could relate to.
There was one other point that I wanted to know but I forgot it now so and now I'm tired so I'm just going to post this

Allah created:
1. Angels- innocent and sinless
2. Satan and his progeny- evil
3. Jinns- evil dominated over good
4. Mankind- the best of creation; equally mixed good and evil, try to conquer evil within themselves and to grow in goodness to seek and attain pleasure of Allah

Those who show patience, Firmness and self-control; who are true (in word and deed); who worship devoutly; who spend (in the way of Allah); and who pray for forgiveness in the early hours of the morning. “if man meets failure, then coupled with the displeasure in his reaction he also tries to blame fate, and thus in the guise of fate, he actually casts a blame on Allah-swt. In contrast, if the Qalb is Zakir, the effect is different: he is content with his personal effort but assumes that some of his weakness may have caused the failure, and even if his effort was complete, the result would certainly not have been favourable for him, because of which it was averted by his Master. He is convinced that he will be rewarded for his effort and hard work by Allah Kareem; so, even in failure he sees a degree of success and therefore never falls in despair nor loses hope. He regards his effort and labour as well as the peace and comfort, as grants from Allah-swt. Consequently, his life becomes serene and comfortable.” A wonderful reminder and beautifully written #treasuresoftheheart #kanoozedil https://www.instagram.com/p/CliZUYROlo4/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

This is such a good reminder. Sometimes we beat ourselves up thinking we are humbling ourselves, but too much victimization of yourself is another form of narcissism. We are still drowning in thoughts or us. We need to drown in thoughts of Allah and his creations. Giving, in any form is healing. When we do something for someone else, we also real the rewards as well. It's really beautiful. Subhanallah https://www.instagram.com/p/Ck_nfl_vcAG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

“O Changer Of Hearts, Keep My Heart Firm Upon Your Religion” Ya Muqallibal qulub, thabbit qalbi Ala dinik. Shahr bin Hawshab said: “I said to Umm Salamah: ‘O Mother of the Believers! What was the supplication that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said most frequently when he was with you?” She said: ‘The supplication he said most frequently was: “O Changer of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion (Yā Muqallibal-qulūb, thabbit qalbī `alā dīnik).’” She said: ‘So I said: “O Messenger of Allah, why do you supplicate so frequently: ‘O Changer of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.’ He said: ‘O Umm Salamah! Verily, there is no human being except that his heart is between Two Fingers of the Fingers of Allah, so whomsoever He wills He makes steadfast, and whomever He wills He causes to deviate.’” https://www.instagram.com/p/Cga4Sd1NVyL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

So much wisdom in just a few lines. It's miraculous that the entire book is like this. Sometimes during tilwat I'll end up stopping to sit and meditate on the words of our Lord. These ayats spoke to me today so I wanted to share them with anyone who might come across my simple posts. In other religions its said that we are born with the sins of our ancestors, but in Islam, we don't bear the burdens of another. We hold on shoulders only what we are capable of, and that is judged and dealt to us by God. We are all unique and incomparable, and our strengths and weaknesses are as different as the leaves on trees. Our problems and struggles all vary person to person. So we shouldn't judge others for what they're having troubles with. And we shouldn't judge ourselves if our issues are overwhelming us but we minimize them or think they're not a big deal. Validate yourself- your burdens, your emotions, your feelings are given by Allah. If our Rabb has validated us then how can we not give ourselves that comfort and peace? We were given these burdens intentionally, and we will be rewarded accordingly to our efforts and endeavors. He knows what we're feeling and our struggles. He knows how hard it is to overcome certain things. He knows, He sees, and He hears. We're not alone. We'll get through it. This too shall pass. "O my Lord! Grant me that I may be grateful for Thy favour which Thou has bestowed upon me, and upon both my parents, and that I may work righteousness such as Thou mayest approve; and be gracious to me in my issue. Truly have I turned to Thee and truly do I bow (to Thee) in Islam." 46:15 #quran #quranicdua #surahahqaf https://www.instagram.com/p/Cc21qaRPACH/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Rabbi Inni Zalamtu Nafsi Faghfirli, “My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me." This dua has been on my mind for a couple days now so I thought I'd share it. Sometimes if we've done something wrong or bad it can feel like saying astaghfirullah is just not enough, and we want to say more but we don't know what to say or how to put it. Of course our Lord doesn't need us to utter words because he is As Sami, he is All Hearing and he knows the words of our hearts. But if we struggle to say a dua, its good to refer to the duas our prophets have used. Our Rabb considereed several duas to be important enough to include in his final word (the Quran). This dua in surah qasar was said by Musa as. And he was forgiven because Allah is All forgiving. If you're being called to it then perhaps this dua can bring you some peace of mind too. May Allah forgive us all during this month of Ramadan. Adam and Hawwah blamed themselves when they disobeyed God and ate from the forbidden tree. This is the dua they used to seek forgiveness. With Ramadan coming soon, it's a good time for us to focus on where we have wronged. Let's follow the guidance and ask for forgiveness in a beautiful way too https://www.instagram.com/p/Cbpgc1NvFIM/?utm_medium=tumblr

Sometimes the only way to achieve what we want is to focus on the now, instead of the craving. If we want to be at peace, then we need to stop thinking about that goal, and just be. Just breathe. Just feel the moment. Some simple things only come in stillness, and we're not still when we're chasing things. Meditation is important for spiritual growth. I want to be closer to my Allah, but I can't get lost in always focusing on doing the next salaat, the next rakaat. I need to take a breath and notice my current prayer. Notice the words my tongue is reciting. Notice the stillness of my body. Notice the calming effect of this moment that I am closer to my lord. It's very important to keep in mind the activities that we aim to do: prayers, fasts, charities, etc. But we must not get lost always searching for the next activity. We need to cherish every second of the action we are doing as we do it. And I believe that mindfulness will bring us closer to Allah, if that's what he wills. #mindfulness #mindfully #presentmoment #murakaba #thepowerofnow #thepowerofnoweckharttolle #eckharttolle https://www.instagram.com/p/CbPH5KPPrEz/?utm_medium=tumblr

So stay patient, dear soul, because your Lord has said He will not grieve you more than you can bear. And He has undoubtedly placed good in this as well, no matter how dark or painful it may feel.
