another update!!

sorry i haven't been posting, i've been registering for college these past few weeks and i've been stressed out at all the stuff i have/need to do. but don't worry, this blog isn't dead just yet!! i'm still working on the requests i have

It’s been two years. Two years since Tobio held hands with him. Two years since he embraced him while watching the sunset. Two years since the last time he told him that he loved him while cuddled up in bed, remembering the smell of lavender candles.

It’s been two years since Tobio had seen Shouyou. They both went to separate universities after high school. They promised to keep in touch, sending almost thirty messages a day until it eventually dwindled down to zero a day. Of course it ended up like that though, university was taking up all their time leaving absolutely nothing for each other. Tobio had no time to even miss him, he was to caught up in trying to actually get better grades than he got in high school.

One night, while he was studying, he had received a text, one that honestly surprised him:

hey tobio! i hope this is still ur number, otherwise this is super awkward… but would you like to meet up sometime? – shouyou

He actually looked at the screen for a solid ten minutes before replying that he would very much love to meet him.

So, here he was, in a coffee shop that was in between their two schools. His stomach was a wreck, had Shouyou changed? What if he had changed? He ordered a black coffee and waited at one of the tables, his mind a whirlpool of questions. He almost didn’t realize that the chair in front of him was moving, then he saw him. Shouyou.

Shouyou’s hair is a lot more fluffier than it was in high school. A lot more. He wanted to bury his face in it, it looked cozy, almost like a warm blanket. His smile and eyes, god, he missed his smile and eyes. The way they were bright and warm, he could feel his cheeks redden, but damn, he had so much love for this boy.

“Hi, Tobio.” His damn smile.

“Shouyou, hi.”

Shouyou cocked his head, “You seem upset.”

“I’m not… To be honest, quite the opposite…” He turned his head away, “I missed you, Shouyou.”

In the corner of his eye, Tobio saw a slight smile form, “I missed you too, Tobio.”

“So, how come you wanted to meet me?”

Shouoyu furrowed his brow, “Um, well, Tobio, I don’t know how else to say this, but, I love you. I haven’t dated anyone these past two years… It didn’t feel right, knowing that you were still here, I want us to work, I want us to try more. We gave up, what, after a few days? No, I believe in us, in our love.”

Tobio laughed, he loved this part of him, the way all his feeling pour out at once, he missed it, he really did, “I want us to try too. So, back to being together even though we never really broke up?”

Shouyou nodded, his smile showing. And this time, they really did try, visiting each other almost every weekend or so, studying together, and sleeping until noon wrapped up in each other’s arms.

The last set of an important match. The air is tense as the ball tosses into the air and the rally begins.

Sweat drips down to the floor, shoes darting across the floor, and all eyes are in deep concentration. They’re so close to winning. One rally after another, only speaking when needed.

At least that’s what Shouyou thought was happening since he was being held captive inside a hospital room since the beginning of the last set. He had accidentally landed weirdly after spiking and his ankle is broken. Luckily, if he rests, he’ll be back to playing volleyball in no time (he’s dreading it, but at least he can research other teams while he can’t play).

“Argh,” he ruffled his hair, “Yachi, how do you think they’re doing?”

She looked up, startled by sudden question, then her eyes retreated downwards, “I don’t know Hinata… But, what I do know is that I trust them to win for you. I don’t think they’ll let you down. They’ll win it for you, Hinata.”

He huffed and laid back down on the pillow just as Hitoka’s phone dinged.

“Oh! Hinata! The match ended and they’re coming here right now!” Excitement clearly on her face.

“Did they win?! Did they win?!” He raised his head quickly, looking back at Hikota.

She looked down at her phone again, “…It doesn’t say. But, I’m sure they just want to tell you in person so they can see how excited you are!”

Shouyou slumped his shoulders, “But if they didn’t text it, I’m sure it’s gonna be because they lost…”

Just then, a knock was heard and in entered a bunch of balloons carried by his teammates.

“Oi, what happened?! Don’t keep me in suspense.”

Daichi looked around the room, avoiding Shouyou’s eyes.

“Well, we–”

“WE WON!” Tobio entered the room (he’s the one who suggested the balloons and running, but he also lagged behind because of the amount of balloons he bought).

He quickly made his way towards Shouyou’s bed, and he put the balloons there… Until they floated up to the ceiling, but by then Shouyou had already pulled Tobio’s neck down so he was closer. Both of them were teary eyed, they won. They won an important match. They couldn’t stand it anymore, they brought their lips towards each other. It was slow, burning, and warm.

“Ahem.” One of the members said, neither of them caught who, as they broke apart. As they both looked towards them, they immediately turned red. Everyone else’s face was in shock.

“I told you, Tsukki! Give me my ¥1,100*!” Tadashi pulled his palm out.

Kei rolled his eyes, fixed his glasses, and gave Tadashi his money, “Wow, I thought they’d be too focused on volleyball for anything else. But Hinata, Kageyama,” They sucked in a breath, “I’m happy for you, really.” And exhaled.

The others nodded, “To be honest, I kinda saw something going on, but I’m still a little shocked that both of acted on it. But, I’m happy for you, I’m sure the whole team is, but we love and support you.” Koushi said, “But focus on getting better, okay?”

“ARGH, DON’T REMIND ME!” Shouyou slumped back into the pillow, very happy (but still sad about his injury).

Pairing: Kageyama Tobio / Hinata Shouyou

Oh god, oh god, oh god, Shouyou repeated in head. He really shouldn’t have gotten on this boat. But of course, he wanted to see some dolphins up close, yet all he was staring at was the floor of the boat, his hands clenched and sweaty. Who knew that he’d get seasick?

He’s sitting in one the chairs near the side of the boat outside, trying so hard to not look at the moving water, his stomach doing flips every time he even tried to. The seats were filling up quickly, and then someone sat beside him. He looked up to see a man, his blue eyes looking quite angry and his hair blowing in all directions. And, for a second, he completely forgot about his stomach, forgot about where he was and that he was surrounded by miles and miles of death in the form of water.

“Hi, I’m Hinata Shouyou!” He shined a smile at him and the man raised his eyebrow.

“Kageyama Tobio.” That was all he said. Tobio looked the other way, a hand propping his head up, and stared at the ocean over people’s heads.

The captain made his introductions, Shouyou felt a lot better, and he was super excited to see the dolphins.

He remembered a specific memory of his childhood where his parents took him to an aquarium. When they saw the dolphins, he remembered running right against the tank so he could take a better look at them. His eyes shined brightly and he stared in awe as he watched them gracefully swim laps around the tank. And then, something magical happened with one of the dolphins, he still remembers her name, Nami.* Nami had seen Shouyou, whose face was glued to the glass and she approached him. He moved his face away to see her better, and slowly, she touched her nose against the glass and Shouyou placed his where hers was. It was one of his most special memories.

His mind went back to reality and realized the boat was moving. The boat was moving a lot and now so was his stomach. He held his stomach and looked out at the sea, hoping that staring at the water could calm him down (and he wanted to make sure to not through up on the cute, angry guy next to him).

It worked... For a second, but staring at a moving ocean on a moving boat made his stomach feel so much worse, he could feel his lunch creeping up his throat, he should not have eaten those extra fries, but damn, they were delicious.

Then, of course, the worst possible thing happened. The cute guy tapped him on the shoulder.

“Hey–” He started to talk, until Shouyou completely threw up on him, (thank god no one else noticed, they were too busy looking at the dolphins). Why did things like this always happen to him?

“I’m so sorry.” He looked angry... At least Shouyou, thought he did, he couldn’t tell. Luckily he still had some napkins left over from his lunch and started wiping his shirt. Which didn’t really help, it more so just spread the puke around. And kinda made him want to throw up again.

Luckily, the hour passed by pretty quickly and he did not throw up on Tobio again. At the terminal to get off, they both went inside the bathroom to clean it all up (Shouyou insisted he help). 

Shouyou was using some lightly wet paper towel on his shirt, rubbing it so most came off, “Again, I’m really really sorry.”

“It’s okay.” Tobio replied softly, “It gave me a reason to talk to you more...”

Shouyou blushed, “Really?”

Tobio nodded, his face extremely red and he turned away.

“Um, actually, Shouyou, before this happened,” he gestured to his shirt, which was pretty clean, expect for the smell, “I wanted to ask you on a date... I usually don’t do things like this... But you’re so adorable, I couldn’t help it.” The last part was mumbled but Shouoyu didn’t care, he was extremly happy and said yes to the date.

“Just nothing on water, though.”

Tobio laughed, “Deal. Also, if you were feeling sick, you could’ve told me. I had some motion sickness medicine on me, just in case.”

Shouyou rubbed the back of his neck, shyly smiling, “Whoops.”
