No acknowledgement came from the parasite after it had worked its way through the ear canal and settled itself. It stretched lazily into all of the crevices, tendrils smoothing around the base of the brain. It's awareness traveled down through the nerves and muscles, and then once synchronized with its host, began flitting through memories. Like a stack of datacards, the parasite began with what was most recent, scoffing as it saw how Loran wasted his precious hours of freedom to sit next to a man not conscious enough to appreciate the gesture.
From there there the parasite worked back, skipping over what it deemed boring, unimportant, and focusing in on what it considered useful. Still, it was silent.
The scroll of memories stopped. Two weeks prior had been the last conscious moments for Klivian and the parasite stopped there, on Loran's memory of the day in the lounge. The day was first rewound, and Loran's point of view examined, his thoughts as Klivian woke up from the brain-dead stupor he had been kept in, the near fight, the time in the lounge itself ... and then the final memory. The one of Kilzan snapping the threads to decranialize the elder pilot directly in front of Loran. The memory was savored, examined repeatedly.
<You mourn an awful lot over someone you don't even know> The voice sounded nearly like Klivian's, with none of the warmth. It was cold and reptilian despite the near-perfect resemblance. The parasite straightened Loran, removing the modified helmet and accepting a cloth to wipe away the sludge. "Make certain Brava understands why it has been transferred." Kilzan spoke quickly, clipped authoritative tones that faded into Loran's own melodic cadence toward the end of the statement. The parasite looked at the still form of its usual host. "I'll evaluate it at the end of the next scheduled basking period." Kilzan didn't wait for a response, it strode briskly for the door of the Pool, stopping to grab the small collection of Loran's personal items.
Klivian's com was there, Kilzan flipped that on as well and transferred all the required files over to Loran's, then set the comm back in its slot.
<I don't require anything of you.> The parasite informed its host in the same detached tone, the voice that was Hobbie's but not. <Brava is weak. It has given you far too much leeway and whatever game you have been playing at will end now.>
Tumblr media
@red-flight / @sundanceofapache liked this for a starter!
Face rubbed the back of his neck. It had been almost two weeks since his and Hobbie's single day of freedom, since he watched the light fade from his eyes, dying right in front of him. Even Ton hadn't died in front of him like that.
The slug, Brava, insisted he wasn't dead, that he couldn't be any worse than he was before Kilzan set him up with Loran to visit the Lounge. Neither of them had been there beforehand, the area having been reserved for willing hosts to engage in entertainment and recreation while their Gastropoda handlers basked.
Face wasn't sure he believed him, but he believed the threat Kilzan posed in giving Face to someone else if he didn't cooperate with his slug. So he did his best to get back on routine; sit with Hobbie, talk a bit, holding his own bedside vigil until either he or the older pilot finally gave out. The Lounge held no temptation for him, not when his fellow pilot was languishing.
Finally, one of the pool guards signaled and Face sighed. "Well, it's time to go," he said dismally. "Hopefully Brava will have better news today. Anyway, I'll keep you updated if anything happens." He reached over and gave the unconscious pilot's shoulder a squeeze before pushing himself to his feet and glumly striding to his seat where Brava was no doubt waiting for him.
Face sat down at the booth, gazing at what looked like a modified Rebellion Starfighter helmet resting on a small stand. A thick, black tube sprouted from the top of it, connecting to the side of the Kandrona pool where he knew the slug would come in from.
Face sighed heavily and hoisted the helmet onto his head. He grimaced as the helmet activated, the suction cups inside pressing against his head as warm liquid filled his ears. In moments, he felt his handler and winced, gritting his teeth as the slug traveled from his ear to his brain. Usually it didn't hurt, Brava was good about that, using its natural numbing agent to make the transition as quick and painless as possible. But this time, this time it did. Was Brava angry? Had something happened in the pool?
He felt the rippling sensation along his scalp that came with the slug settling in and he acknowledged the slug.
'Welcome back,' Face said cordially. 'Everything go alright? You're not usually this rough on entry.'

𝐏𝐈𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐁𝐁𝐄𝐀𝐍 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐓𝐒  (a collection of prompts from the Pirates of The Caribbean movies, feel free to adjust phrasing and gendered terms as necessary)
Tumblr media
“Why fight when you can negotiate?”
“If you were waiting for the opportune moment, that was it.”
“I do that quite a lot yet people are always surprised.”
“This is either madness or brilliance.”
“The code is more what you’d call ‘guidelines’ than actual rules.”
“Crazy people don’t know they’re crazy. I know I’m crazy, therefore I’m not crazy, isn’t that crazy?”
“You lied to me by telling me the truth?”
“What a horrible way to live.”
“How did you get here?”
“Dying is the day worth living for.”
“Better mad with the rest of the world than sane alone.”
“Fortune has clearly brought us here.”
“I should have told you every day from the moment I met you. I love you.”
“[name], there is more to you than meets the eye, isn’t there? And the eye does not go wanting.”
“This is madness.”
“You’re off the edge of the map, mate. Here, there are monsters.”
“Speak up! Or do you fancy a swim with Davy Jones?”
“This is barbaric!”
“Everything you said to me, every word was a lie!”
“What’s in your head, boy?”
“You cheated!”
“Do you fear death?”
“Life is cruel. Why should the afterlife be any different?”
“That’s very kind of you.”
“Think you can outrun the world?”
“How dare you do exactly what I would do if I were you.”
“I’m disinclined to acquiesce to your request.”
“You’d best start believing in ghost stories, Missie. You’re in one!”
“The world used to be a bigger place.”
“Did everyone see that? Because I will not be doing it again.”

Dialogue prompts taken from Star Wars: The Old Republic *change pronouns and gendered terms as needed.
❝ Destiny is merely the conduit for our will. ❞
❝ C'mon, you know how I feel about corpses in my workspace… ❞
❝ I didn’t know there was some kind of time limit on daring rescues. ❞
❝ I was thinking that I might hire an army of wookiees. ❞
❝ I believe in the democratization of fear. ❞
❝ The force is a weapon, I will show you how to wield it. ❞
❝ Yeah, I love you. Tell anyone I said that and I’ll bite your tongue off. ❞
❝ There is no death. There is only the Force – And I am its Master. ❞
❝ I am dead… and reborn, over and over. Jedi… Sith… many lifetimes. ❞
❝ I have an excellent Sabacc face… That was a joke, I hate sabacc. ❞
❝ When the last living thing in the universe finally dies, I will enjoy peace and wait for the cycle to begin again. ❞
❝ I am the Emperor’s Wrath, my word is law, and you will obey unto death. ❞
❝ Let the world tremble and tear itself apart. I am Sith, and I endure. ❞
❝ Just so you know, I’m here for the long term. ❞
❝ It is good to have you by my side, (name). It always has been. ❞
❝ You too, oh sweetest of Sith Lords. You too. ❞
❝ Bounty hunters work best alone, and we don’t take orders from anyone. ❞
❝ I knew I was attractive, but this is ridiculous. ❞
❝ Beware of destinies. They’re rarely what you expect. ❞
❝ Liberating is what I do best… next to blowing things up. ❞
❝ I wasn’t planning to live forever anyway. I’m in. ❞
❝ I’ll find you. I always do. ❞
❝ Let’s show this bastard what we’re made of! ❞
❝ You are made of bones that break and blood that spills. ❞
❝ There’s incompetent, and then there’s you people. ❞
❝ I don’t like to brag, but… oh, who am I kidding. I love to brag! ❞
❝ Have you seen what the Sith are wearing? It’s like every fashion designer in the galaxy has gone over to the Dark Side. ❞
❝ I like assassinating assassins. They always look so surprised. ❞
❝ You and me, working together. Taking down the galaxy. What do you think? ❞
❝ What? Er, well, of course… me and my buddy the Sith. Nobody’s going to pick on me at school! ❞
❝ I’m sorry, the galaxy can only hold so much stupid. I’m not contributing. ❞
❝ I am not cute. I am deadly! ❞
❝ Actually, I was having this amazing dream. There were these relics, and each of them produced a different flavor of ice cream. ❞
❝ Hmm. I never get the good dreams. It’s always flesh-eating Jawas or Hutts in bikinis. ❞
❝ Hutts in bikinis? Sounds like an improvement. ❞
❝ Never lie to a professional liar. ❞
❝ I killed three knights to make sure they weren’t lying, and three more because I hate odd numbers. ❞
❝ Fancy titles and arrogance won’t stop me from cutting you in two. ❞
❝ How did I know this operation couldn’t run smoothly? ❞
❝ Maybe you’d prefer I stay buried? ❞
❝ Five minutes. Can we please go five minutes without you two at each other’s throats? ❞
❝ Perhaps it is merely the nature of a son to surpass his father. ❞
❝ I’d still take a drink and a story, anytime you feel like it– no need for anything more. ❞
❝ I’m too old for head games. I could twist you around my finger, but … it’s not as fun as it used to be. ❞
❝ You poor stupid, stupid, stupid man. ❞
❝ All of us here, we know about loss, don’t we? We’ve lost loved ones, friends. We’ve been beaten down time and again. ❞
❝ They’re looking to you to guide them to greatness, as only you can. Take them there. ❞
❝ A life without regret is a life well-lived. ❞
❝ Hate standing around. Never know what to– hey, a coin! ❞
❝ And to think I was going to sing for you all tonight. ❞
❝ And no, you can’t experiment on my brain. ❞
❝ I didn’t run all the way back here to watch you die. ❞
❝ I wouldn’t disappoint you with a sad ending. ❞
❝ It’s more romantic if I come back almost dead. ❞
❝ Bravery in the face of certain death is only attractive when you survive. ❞
❝ Your lack of intelligence is insulting. ❞
❝ That’s Captain Fat Fingers. ❞
❝ I take it you’re King of the Crazy People. ❞
❝ You really need better security. ❞
❝ I don’t see anyone. Are they invisible, or very small? ❞
❝ Has the meatbag bickering finally exhausted itself? ❞
❝ One thing that hasn’t changed in five years– and I doubt it ever will: meatbag bickering. ❞
❝ They say powerful sith can come back from the dead and appear to the people they had strong connections to when they were alive. Will I wake up some day and see you? ❞

Jango: I mean, if I went around sayin’ I was Mand’alor just because some aruetii had lobbed a beskad at me they’d put me away!
Satine: Shut up! Will you shut up!
Jango: Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system.
Satine: Shut up!
Jango: Oh! Come and see the violence inherent in the system! HELP! HELP! I’m being repressed!
Several years later…
Jango: -and that was how I lost my Mandalorian citizenship.
Boba: wtf dad.

STAR WARS: EPISODE IV - A NEW HOPE (1977) PROMPTS *  assorted dialogue from the film, adjust as necessary
uh... everything's under control. situation normal.
this will be a day long remembered.
in my experience, there's no such thing as luck.
i have you now!
let's blow this thing and go home!
great shot, kid, that was one in a million!
look, a few minutes ago you said you didn't want to just wait here to be captured. now all you want to do is stay?
he doesn't like you.
it's a wonder you're still alive.
no reward is worth this.
i'm surprised that you had the courage to take the responsibility yourself.
the more you tighten your grip, the more star systems will slip through your fingers.
screaming about it can't help you.
i see your point.
i wonder if he really cares about anything, or anybody.
what is it? some kind of local trouble?
i have the death sentence on twelve systems.
this little one's not worth the effort.
i sense something.
should i have your ship standing by?
you don't believe in the force, do you?
i've flown from one side of the galaxy to the other. i've seen a lot of strange stuff.
there's no mystical energy field that controls my destiny.
the force will be with you, always.
how did my father die?
if there's a bright center to the universe, you're on the planet that it's furthest from.
i don't know what all this trouble is about, but i'm sure it must be your fault.
you watch your language!
we seem to be made to suffer. it's our lot in life.
either i'm going to kill her or i'm beginning to like her.
aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?
the force is strong with this one.
i fear something terrible has happened.
we had a slight weapons malfunction, but... uh. everything's perfectly all right now.
we're fine, we're all fine here now. thank you. how are you?
we're sending a squad up.
we're doomed.
it's not over yet.
i ain't in this for your revolution, and i'm not in it for you.
i expect to be well paid. i'm in it for the money.
use the force, [name].
i find your lack of faith disturbing.
this bickering is pointless.
hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side.
look, your worshipfulness, let's get one thing straight. i take orders from just one person: me.
give us a few minutes to lock it down!
who is this? what's your operating number?
[name], we're gonna have company!
you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. we must be cautious.
let me see your identification.
you can go about your business.
move along.
my ship has fallen under attack.
this is our most desperate hour.
you're my only hope.
i've gotta get home! it's late! i'm in for it as it is!
i'm getting too old for this sort of thing.
look, i can't get involved. i've got work to do.
it's all such a long way from here.
evacuate? in our moment of triumph? i think you overestimate their chances.
we have no weapons!
you're far too trusting.
i recognized your foul stench when i was brought on board.
marching into a detention area is not what i had in mind.
that's what i'm afraid of.
this is all your fault.
i don't know who you are or where you came from, but from now on you'll do as i tell you, okay?
surely he must be dead by now.
i have something here for you.
there was nothing you could have done.

The clans were scattered, the planet was glass, and Tajur had watched his own boys do it. Plenty of nat-born troopers, as he'd heard some Clones refer to non-cloned sentients, had taken part but even under the helmets and the new dehumanizing armor designs he could recognize a Clone Trooper. From Mandalore he'd watched the holonews as Jedi were gunned down and the Republic seemed to implode on itself and then had seen those same boys glass the surface of his homeworld and Tajur couldn't understand why.
As the Empire solidified its power the Rim held more appeal to Tajur. His whole life had been spent on Mandalore and Kamino and now, even as an adult, he found himself often looking around like an awestruck child. Thank the Force for his bucket.
Here on the Rim, inching closer and closer to Wild Space, there was work for those who didn't have too many scruples. Tajur was finding that as someone who did have scruples ... work didn't come quite as easily. It was during one such negotiation that he spied a flicker of familiarity in the passing crowd. The black and gold armored Mandalorian stopped and turned toward the movement. Was the Empire extending its reach here?
Was it hunting the Mandalorian refugees ... was it trying to erase anyone who knew about where the Clones came from and how they were trained? Tajur drew his blaster and waded into the crowd after the familiar shape.

Thinking about my Mando OC Tajur. He was a trainer on Kamino, raised with the troopers by his father and eventually taking over training his father's troopers.
And just, how heartbroken Tajur was to see his troopers turn on the Republic and never knowing why.
Yup I'd love for Tajur to meet some of the troopers who've made it out of the Empire.

People liking your personal OCs is still such a crazy feeling, I've been doing this for years and ppl asking about them still fills my entire heart with warmth and idk how to handle it
You enjoy this fictional guy I made up for fun?? Whose only content is random artwork or writing made by me and a handful of other artists at most? They have no show/book/game with a large fandom, it's just one person with an art blog?? I love u

😴 😨 ~ both dreams for Mathafew @sundanceofapache
For a Dream & Nightmare with Mathafew!
The night was filled with a mist of glittering stars, the color of them shifting in the atmosphere of Esverr. Darius grinned broadly up at them as if experiencing them for the first time. "Can you see it, Mathafew?" He asked squeezing his son close as he pointed up at the sky. "Can you feel the flow of Clarr'Proviiden?" They were so beautiful, and he felt so wonderful he thought his chest would burst! He glanced down at Mathafew whose pupils were wide and round with wonder. Starlight danced on his scarlet irises and his face looked like the child he should have been this entire time. A Scourman could only see a bit less than Truemen, but he knew it was a sight. But what made this all worth it was seeing Mathafew's face... A 10-year-old boy seeing the world, the Force, for the first time with his new sight. Darius beamed at his ad'ika and gazed back up at the rainbow-studded sky... When the atmosphere shifted and pain sizzled through his chest... something... red... entered his view as brilliant light hummed from his chest and withdrew. Everything was muted. Darius fell back, stunned, Mathafew grabbing for him as black-gloved arms pulled him back. The Mando tried to grab him, to hold him, to stop the Dar'jetti from taking him! The boy slipped from his fingers, but he could still hear his son screaming for him. "Mathafew!" he rasped, trying to breathe with the hole in his chest. "Mathafew!!" Darkness surrounded him, the very darr'thumbra of their souls were blocking out the sky "He wasn't yours to begin with, Mando," came a smooth, silky, oily voice. "You should have given him to us when you had the chance..." He knew that voice... it was the one that belonged to the first Darr'thumbrian he'd ever met... the boy's handler... a dark trueman... "Now you're going to die, and he's going to return to the thumbra where he belongs..." "No!" Darius choked out, feeling his vision fading and fearing the loss of his son to the Dar'Jetti. "NOOO!"
The Mandalorian jerked bolt upright, his hand still grasping in front of him where Mathafew had been in his dreams. His hand jerked to his chest, clutching the spot he'd felt the Lightsaber in his dream. He let out a choking sound as he leaned back into his bed, pressing a hand against his eyes as he breathed through his horrific nightmare.
