it  feels  like  he's  been  everywhere  already  ;  traversed  every  inch  of  this  daemon  infested  world  .  eos  falls  to  ruin  ,  collapsing  in  the  scourge's  stain  ,  and  ark  has  one  a  single  light  amidst  the  years  of  darkness  behind  them  ;  a  purpose  that  he  fears  he's  lost  .  him  and  lilli  went  separate  ways  after  an  argument  born  of  his  own  rage  ,  and  now  he's  scared  to  feel  anything  at  all  .  soul  as  cold  as  ice  ,  feelings  freezing  with  the  descent  in  temperature  that  makes  itself  at  home  here  .

❛   i've  tried  there   .   .   .   ❜   he  admits  with  an  irritated  hopelessness  ,  but  looks  up  to  the  hunter  with  a  sense  of  determination  beneath  the  ice  of  his  spirit  .   ❛   but  it  was  awhile  back  .  i  wanna  look  again  .  i've  got  to  find  her  .   ❜   and  he's  not  sure  at  all  which  direction  to  start  heading  .  he's  been  wandering  in  the  shadows  for  too  long  now  ,  and  his  stomach  growls  from  emptiness  ,  and  his  feet  ache  from  walking  ,  but  he  can't  be  bothered  to  give  a  damn  .

prompto mulls over the brief description for a moment, though it conjures no images of familiarity. most of the time, he simply went through camps and towns to restock his supplies and turn in hunts without stopping to chat much. still, he could see how much his sister met to him, and prompto wanted to help him all the same. he pauses the thought as ark speaks again, and his own gaze lifts to observe the darkness around them before looking back at the other.

❝ yeah, there's some monsters giving the locals some problems, as well as an increased number of daemons. i've been trying to track them, but i haven't made much progress. ❞ the smaller monsters had been easy enough to deal with, but finding the leader while also trying to fight the daemons was certainly no easy task. especially when finding the trail was, predictably, challenging to do in the pitch black with only a flashlight as a source of light. ❝ i can follow you back into town, if you want. we'd have more of a chance learning about your sister there than out here. ❞

crystalline hues gaze at the woman a moment longer, seeing if he could figure out the shift in her demeanor. it's only fair that @sundies doesn't trust him fully yet, and he could hardly blame her for not. as much good faith he showed and for all of sciel's attempts to bridge the gap between them all, it was something that couldn't be forced. with the weight of a ticking clock, the future they only had a chance at seeing, and the abyssal hole left behind by gustave's death, forming a connection with a man they've only known for a month at most wasn't on lune's top list of priorities. he got it, he really did. so verso just sits by the campfire, watching as the flames danced into the night sky. if she had nothing to say, then he wasn't going to push it.

not  many  people  just  go  with  his  icy  personality  in  the  way  this  guy  seems  to  ,  so  it  takes  ark  by  surprise  .  he  stops  for  a  moment  ,  offering  a  decently  long  stare  ,  but  not  so  long  it  becomes  too  uncomfortable  for  both  of  them  .  everything  out  here  is  dreary  and  depressing  ,  and  his  sour  personality  certainly  isn't  doing  him  any  favors  .  besides  ,  he's  been  alone  for  what  feels  like  weeks  now  ,  and  he's  certain  he's  not  handling  it  well   .   .   .   may  as  well  treat  the  guy  with  a  shred  of  grace  .  for  now  .  yet  ,  when  he  speaks  with  his  version  of  ‘  grace  ’  ,  it  sounds  more  like  he's  annoyed  he  has  to  explain  in  the  first  place  ,   ❛   kinda  like  me  .  shorter  .  longer  hair  .   ❜

he  casts  his  gaze  along  the  expansive  darkness  and  sighs  .  he  once  thought  he  hated  the  sun  on  skin  ,  but  he'd  give  anything  to  feel  it  these  days  .   ❛   what're  you  doing  all  the  way  out  here  anyway  ?  are  you  on  some  kinda  hunt  ?   ❜   must  be  paying  decently  ,  if  that's  the  case  .

even after all these years, prompto's first instinct is to explain himself. not that he needs to, not that it matters, these days. so the blond clamps his mouth shut, letting the other man speak. certainly a little bit prickly, but he was just happy to see an actual person after so many days ( weeks ? time slipped through his fingers like sand without having the sun to indicate what time it was ) with daemon's as his only company. perhaps prompto shouldn't give the other any of his information giving how some used the endless darkness as a cover for crimes, but something about the mention of his sister and end of the rope desperation has him feeling . . . somewhat bad for the other.

❝ yeah, i am. i haven't seen another person besides you since i've been out here, but i'm more than happy to help you look for her. what's she look like ? ❞

❛  try to keep up . ❜  her feet shift ‘gainst the rocky ground until she manages connection enough with the air to lift herself into a subtle levitation , pushing herself forward at a jogger’s pace as to not expend too much energy ( or more realistically , to not leave ichigo behind ) . it's with gentle grace that she stops herself , bare soles touching the dirt with the subtlest stumble as she reconnects with nature . her eyes glance upward in a mesmerized and silent excitement toward a tree blending with crystal and multi - colored blooms .
