Talking with the kids (identical twin boys) about fanfic tropes and I mentioned body-swap.

And we realised that the idea of identical twins swapping bodies is HILARIOUS, because no one would believe them. They regularly try and confuse people by giving the wrong name.

It would backfire on them so wonderfully...

And now sitting in the car doing some handsewing for a bit before I change over to writing...

Dinner is in the oven! Hubs is now on tidying the kitchen and doing all the dishes (it's carnage), while I go post a chapter and then harry the boys along to get ready for Jia Jitsu...

Okay... 4.35 and I'm home from work. Make dinner and post a chapter and do some writing. Take kids to Jia Jitsu, do some quilt sewing and then come home and watch an episode... And then hopefully do some more writing. 🤞🤞🤞

I wrote 18,534 words over the last four days. Now it's Monday and I am at work and I have to do some work... I do like getting paid. And I do also like my job, even if I wish I could just write fanfic all day.

Morning routine (shower, dressed, teeth, hair etc.)

Work emails under 20 (started at 49)

Figure out Postgrad notification in Excel

I just finished watching S1 of Young Royals. People who know me know that I consume media at a glacial pace. However I watched an episode a day for the last 4 days, which for me is binge watching.

Yesterday Hubs watched Ep5 and I had to give him the back story and history of Eps 1-4.

Tonight my 13 year old twins watched Ep6 and have stated they want to watch Eps 1-5 now. (I wasn't planning on them watching it but actually am fine with them watching it).

I think me sitting there swearing at the TV in Swedish was definitely part of their entertainment.

I just had a thought... attention spans and WIPs.

Colleagues at work were talking about their teenage kids and their lack of attention span when learning to drive a car, getting bored with driving and wanting to check their phone etc., and I wonder what effect things like TikTok and Reels etc have had on people (and the harm that's causing or going to cause).

I remember waiting months and years for books to come out. For TV series episodes to air week-to-week.

Now it seems like people won't engage with fandom/s in the same way because they either can only expend the energy on short little snippets or incorrect quote style posts, or they are afraid for some reason, or their attention span to follow a WIP is just not there at all?

Media consumption has changed, and it's obviously had a knock-on impact on fandom, because also people seem to flit in and out of fandoms and I'm still sitting here, all my fandoms clutched to me like I'm a dragon and they're my horde...

Also being in a fandom where there are writers who expect (?) people to pay them for their fanfic... I feel SO OLD when I see that stuff.

65.6% of the way through that ridiculous list, where I said if I get over 75% I'll feel accomplished. Well on track to get that done.

13, 11 and 3 years ago... One of the reasons I haven't deleted FB is these memories.

Balancing out wanting to write with necessity to do chores. I will go and do three chores when I have written 2k first.

Okay. Almost 8am on Saturday. Have already done the cutting on my Cricut machine I needed to do and had breakfast. Te Ka joined me in bed this morning because he is missing Max that much. Now some chores I guess and then some writing time...
