sure, i COULD sit down and write. but i could also, and hear me out here, lie in bed thinking about writing for five hours and wishing that i had written it already so i would not have to go through the intense torture that is opening microsoft word and converting thoughts to prose

She’d been laying across her bed, a book held open above her face. The cool afternoon sun was sending shafts of lights across the room, and the only sound for some time had been the soft turning of pages.

Clint didn’t make much more noise when he slipped in, though she’d still heard his soft steps through the apartment. Even more telling was the soft wave of his scent that proceeded him into the room, carried forward in the air current.

Her eyes stayed on her book as he climbed on to her bed, his head coming to rest against her stomach, even though it put his legs half dangling off the end of the mattress.

The book shifted a little higher as she looked down at Clint, a brow twitched up in question even as her lips curled into a small smile.

“Comfortable?”

“Oh. Didn’t you get the memo? This is my favourite spot.” Clint replied with a bright grin, shifting to find the optimal cosy position.

“That so?” She asked, setting her book down. Her hand shifted over to rest against his head, her nails scratching lightly at his scalp as she flexed her fingers through his hair. “Can’t remember getting that memo. Did you send it through the inter-office system? That thing’s so unreliable.” She teased, fingers keeping up a steady rhythm. “Should stick to post-its.”

Clint’s eyes had drifted shut, a peaceful smile on his mouth at the touch.

“Mmm, would, but they keep sayin’ no when I ask for purple ones.”

His head rocked a little bit as the motion of her laughter travelled through her body.

“How dare they,” she said. “You’re an Avenger. You want purple post-its, you should get purple post-its.” Actually, it was an incredibly stupid requisition denial - office stationary was office stationary, even if it was special colours.

“S’what I said. No one gets specialised stuff, apparently. Accordin’ to the woman in charge of the stuff anyway.”

Darcy let out a small huff. “I’m pretty sure Cheryl gets off on saying no to people. Probably a pretty good power trip, saying no to you. I’ll have a…a chat with her, if you want.” Darcy’s tone made it clear it wasn’t going to be a particularly pleasant chat. For Cheryl at least. 

“M’hero,” Clint mumbled, “fightin’ for us downtrodden folk and our office gear.”

She gave a snort of laughter and gave his hair a little tug. 

“Dork,” she said affectionately.

The quiet little tit-for-tat was interrupted when Darcy’s stomach gave a loud grumble of hunger. Clint’s eyes popped open and he twisted his head a little to see her face. 

“I think I actually felt that,” he said, as Darcy flopped back with a groan.

“Ugh, shuddup. Let me up, I gotta go grab a snack or something.” If she didn’t the rumbling would only get worse. It always did.

Clint gave a small laugh before pouting. 

“Aww, but pillow.”

“Your pillow’s just gonna get louder. Mini earthquakes, right under your head,” she cracked back, walking her fingers down over his forehead to tap a fingertip to his nose.

He was still pouting, even if it was clearly just put on, his eyes lit up with amusement giving the act away. But he lifted his head and wriggled a bit to let her sit up and shift over to the edge of the bed.

Getting to her feet, Darcy tugged at her rumpled shirt and made for the doorway. As she reached it though, she paused, one hand going to the frame as she turned her head back. Clint hadn’t moved any further, and his eyes had closed again. 

Her face softened at the sight, taking the scene in like it was a piece of art. The stillness, and the soft play of light, if she thought it could be captured properly Darcy would have pulled out her phone to take a picture. But moments like that were made as much by the feeling as they were by the view, and a photograph couldn’t capture her emotions right then.

“Hey Clint?”

He gave a hum to show he was listening.

“You haven’t been on my bed before. Since when’d it get to the top of the spot list?”

One eye cracked open to look at her, and Clint shifted to bring his arms up, lacing his hands together under his head. 

“New development,” he said, settling in again with a satisfied smile. “Plus it’s got the best pillows.”

Darcy’s hand went briefly to her stomach as her pinks cheeked, but inside she was just as pleased as Clint looked.

“Dork,” she said again as she slipped from the room.

use comic sans to write

i hate this so much but this knowledge is too powerful to keep from you all.

last night @phaltu discovered that setting your font to comic sans in google docs improves writing speed and creativity by an insane amount. “no” i said and “die” but then i tried it and god. i wish it wasn’t this way. i wish it wasn’t true. i wish i could protect you all from this but it’s real. 

something about this font is so disarming. something about this font lets you look past the shape of the words and into their soul. i’ve never written so much as i did last night, on my phone, at 2am, in comic sans.

if you have writer’s block. if you lack inspiration. if you need this. don’t be afraid to use it. sometimes the things we find most horrifying are also the things we need the most. trust me. let comic sans into your life.

The 2020 Hawktion is a go!

You’ll find the posts for all our fabulous creators on this blog, tagged by the type of work they’re offering and the pairings they’re willing to work with. Please have a browse and see if something catches your eye. All the posts for this year’s auction are tagged Hawktion 2020.

Bidding is super-simple and easy. Just check the creator’s spreadsheet to see what bids they already have, then use the bidding form to make your bid, making sure it’s higher than the last one. If you’re making the first bid on an auction, the minimum bid is $5. All bids should be in US dollars.

You can bid as many times and on as many auctions as you like, just please remember that you should be prepared to donate for every auction you are the highest bidder for when the Hawktion closes.

Bids must all be made before 22:00, UK time, on Saturday 20th June. UK Time is currently British Summer Time, which is UTC +1. If you want to know what time that is where you are, please look HERE.

Hello and welcome to Darcy Lewis Bingo! This is a fanworks challenge to celebrate our favorite taser-wielding intern Darcy Lewis, as played by Kat Dennings in Thor, Thor: The Dark World and in the upcoming WandaVision series on Disney+

What’s bingo? (”Is that how you say it? ‘That’s a bingo’?” - “You just say bingo”)  It’s a fanworks event that works like a regular bingo with each square containing a prompt related to Darcy and other cool things. In this challenge, there are 20 or 25 squares to fill, including a free space.

Marvel Collab Cupid - Interest Check Survey

Marvel fandom creators: Do you enjoy collaborating with other members of fandom, but don’t always want the structure of an event like a big bang?

We’re in the process of setting up a Discord server and small tools that would help interested authors, artists, podficcers, betas, and other creators find each other.

Take our anonymous survey to have input on what you would find most useful!
