things I almost remember

i know i havent been super active lately, but i had an idea and i just had to share.

i was thinking, that for the next scooby doo reboot (i know theres currently an active reboot and while i like it, the reboots always last a few seasons) we could see more bonds in the gang other than " we just run around and solve stuff " and we dont have any interests other than stuff that can help mysteries. like, show me daphne and shaggy being besties since they were young (its canon that both of their parents are rich and wanted them to marry, for their companies to join/alliance) show me velma and fred meeting at chess club in middle school (i bet that velma would like the logic challenge and that fred would like that you can set traps in the game) show me shaggy and fred being forced to room together on the schools freshman trip and geeking out over a tv show they both watch. show me velma and daphne meeting because their boys dragged them to an amusement park and were busy on a ride the girls bonded over a hobby they share; period costume/cosplay. give me all of the gang bonding with scooby; he spends a night with velma, fred, and daphne each week, and the other four days he spends eith shaggy. when hes with velma, they go to a cooking class then watch star trek or something. when hes with fred, they work on embroidery and read classic lit novels before switching and making fun of them. when hes with daphne, they make flower arrangements and go mountain climbing. together the gang plays dnd and goes treasure hunting (non cursed, hopefully) they also go to cons together.

and their other friends. show me that they have other friends, and show me them having real relationships with their families and when they dont, show me why they dont. when the gangs in russia or japan or where ever, at least mention them now and then, if velma has a friend from russia and they go to russia, talk up that trip, show velma shooing someone away because shes chatting with said friend, and i swear, give them an accent, even if they speak english, give them a slight accent, because its a common thing since english is a hard language to learn.

show me slightly different dynamics. show me fred only trusting velma in the front seat // driving the van. (if he cant drive it, the dog legally cant, shaggy isnt great at driving, and daphne drives like a maniac plus hes closest with velma) give me the gang at a ball with daphne and shaggy looking bored, but comfortable. show me shaggy and velma playing the same video games and being competitive, show me fred and daphne going to spas and doing skincare together

fandoms act like pedophiles don’t watch tv, read books, or use the internet. “fiction vs reality” all you want but predators consume content that aligns with their interests. real, actual predators ship adults with minors, possess child porn of both real kids and fictional ones, read stories that show csa in a positive light, etc.

like I can see a predator watching how y'all justify minor / adult ships and feeling validated. they don’t just enact violence outside of the internet. they are real people who consume media just like you and me. those of you who ship children with adults share a space with actual predators

it’s also wild to me that y'all don’t think a pedophile could ever be an artist or writer. I guarantee you they are content creators you enjoy on social media. you’re giving them a space to safely express their interests and you validate their inclination to hurt real children when you promote “hebephilia” as healthy. every time you say “the technical definition of pedophilia is 13 years old and younger”, some adult freak feels better about being attracted to a 14 year old. saved by the bell huh!

you’re harboring actual predators, making them feel great about themselves, giving them a platform in fandom & the ability to harass minors into silence with that platform. it isn’t just desensitizing kids, it’s also desensitizing predators

just like white people felt justified in thinking of black people as all sorts of stereotypes (monkeys, mammies, pickanninies, unintelligent, biologically predisposed to being enslaved, etc) thanks to racist cartoons, justifying pedophilia in fiction is a gateway to them excusing harmful behavior in real life and actually doing it. if that should bother you
