Last November, at the TAPS convention in Colorado Springs, TAPS family member Lauri M Turner met Michael and Claire from the Almost SunriseTeam.  She shared the story of losing her son Jacob with them, and found herself so moved by the journey that Tom and Anthony had set out on and the documentary that we're making, that she wanted to offer support in any way possible. Lauri - and her family, Team Hope - have put 110% of their passion and energy into spreading the word and helping raise funds for this Kickstarter campaign. They set up booths at Armed Forces Day and other local events, handed out flyers, connected with people and raised money for Almost Sunrise, all over Kansas City, Missouri. Everyone at Almost Sunrise is so grateful to you, Lauri & Team Hope for everything that you've done to support us and our fundraising effort.

We were so thrilled the moment we hit our Kickstarter goal, but we were even more thrilled (and touched!) when we found out the story behind it.  Chuck Taft, an 8th Grade US history teacher and his students from University School Milwaukee organized an on-campus walkathon - 'March to the Memorials' - to raise money for three great causes, on of which was Veterans Trek and Almost Sunrise.  They monitored the donations ticker closely because they wanted to be the ones to help us hit our $70k goal. Sure enough, six days before the campaign deadline, they seized the opportunity and pushed us over the finish line to $70,121! THANK YOU SO MUCH Chuck Taft and the students of University School Milwaukee, for believing in and supporting Almost Sunrise!
