hi we updated TMIA again and I’m so crazy proud of it!!! this is the first time we’ve posted a fic on this kind of scale and I’m so impressed with how well it’s going even if we took two months to post this update shhh 

and on this topic: we are accepting any and all DMs that wanna talk about stardew fanfic or our fics in specific or like, writing at all. actually in general say hi if you ever want to but specifically none of our friends are super into stardew fic and we wanna talk about it??? we love our fic so much we wanna infodump abt how we write these characters and then hear input on what other people think about it 

also if we have more writer friends we might update more often... it’s so easy to convince us to write something we take inspiration so well askjdhaksjdh

we alternate whether Sam, Sebastian, or both of them are disabled anytime we're writing sambastian. we can't bear to write a story that doesn't include at least one physically disabled character so it's always present, and we embrace them both in cathartic ways

a chronically ill Sebastian who uses a metallic purple cane, to try and help teach himself to be visibly disabled even in public places. he finds joy in the shiny colour of it, and it's a good reason to use a cane that's his favourite colour. he's kind to himself, and tries not to push himself too far, but oftentimes he's so adjusted to his daily pain and fatigue that he doesn't even notice he's pushing himself until it's too late. he'll cry out of frustration at being forced to stay home a day or three to rest, but still he'll lay in bed or watch movies with Sam to avoid pushing himself. he's open about his disability, referencing it early if people can't see his cane outright, because he has so little energy that he refuses to spend his time with people who won't care about his well-being

Sam we instead characterize as restless and almost in denial of how bad things are - not quite, he does know how bad his flare ups get, but he'll sometimes choose to ignore it and accept the consequences of it getting worse later. there are times that he'd rather saddle his future self with extra pain if his present self can skate when it's a nice day for it, even if the energy isn't quite there. he struggles to use a variety of mobility aids because they tempt him to leave them behind, but when he leaves the house in a wheelchair he puts focus on the ways in which it helps him. he's still in the midst of coping with it all, still unfamiliar with how to grieve the type of life he no longer has access to, and so sometimes he ignores his own needs in desire of the blissful ignorance of forgetting about it for a few hours. he's getting better at things, he's learning to listen to his body when it asks him to stop, but he's still figuring it out. it's hard

when both together disabled sambastian, they are tired and aching in tandem. they trade bad days when possible to help when one of them is feeling better than the other - Seb will push Sam's wheelchair since it helps keep his balance, and Sam never lets his boyfriend leave the house without his cane. some days they lay together exhausted, thankful that the other understands them and is comfortable with spending an entire day resting. even on days when they both stay home, unable to so much as reach their boyfriend's house, they sit in voice chats or sync the music they listen to or simply text in between hyperfixated distractions so that they don't feel so alone

we really need to making this a proper au and write about it, if only to use a lyric from Tell Me I'm Alive we failed to use as a chapter title, so that I can post a homoerotic supernatural oneshot titled "Kissing Vampires"

help I want so BADLY to write inverse supernatural sambastian it sounds so fuckin sick I love thinking about it

broody werewolf Seb who spends long nights out in the woods even if he isn't expecting to transform because it's the only place he feels his animalistic blood truly calm down, roaming in the moonlight wary of any sign that he might turn unexpectedly. ever since it first happened he's become so protective over the people in his life, gained this kind of fierce confidence so unfamiliar to everyone he knows but now written in his bones by the transformation that plagues him once a month

anxious vampire Sam desperate to keep any sign of his infection under control to try and keep it hidden until he can figure out any possible way to cure it. he starts taking gigs in the city just so that he has an excuse to leave town and get away from the kind of people who'll notice how much he avoids sunlight, a place where he can roam around outside in the dead of night without feeling like the monster he desperately fears turning into. pretending to eat food his body will no longer accept and throwing out entire meals so that nobody notices the fact that he's stopped eating altogether

and both of these boys so entirely preoccupied with their own curses that they hardly notice that anything's happened to the other one - only that they find it harder and harder to see each other, that each one is more hesitant to be truly open with the other when they spend time together, each deeply fearing that their own monstrous nature will turn the other away

OKAY IT'S REAL

we literally finished this like a month ago but then the fic entered developmental hell (see: too mentally ill to be creative) but last night I went back and finished it up so now IT'S DONE AND REAL

I'm actually so proud of this, tysm for a tumblr reblog convincing us to write this fic kajshdkjahd I'm so glad it exists I love it sm

help we have like three fics we're supposed to be working on, another like five or so that we've emotionally bookmarked should we ever return to write them - but here I sit thinking of a oneshot meetcute where Sam's 100% clocked that the guy who lives in the mountains is fucking gay as hell and he needs to befriend him, but the guy is so hard to track down that he literally hasn't even been able to introduce himself yet. and it's only while trudging home from work in the rain that he finally spots Seb out in the rain, hair and clothes soaking wet, knees tracked in mud because he's been hunting frogs. and by god Sam falls in love on the spot

sitting on the bus listening to high by arrows in action and thinking about a sambastian dynamic with an especially confident Sebastian, the kind of cocky hot shit who playfully bosses around Sam, who feels powerless to resist the charismatic games of a guy who finds him attractive enough to do this in the first place but remains guarded enough that Sam can tell there are layers he isn't seeing. maybe this paradoxical slowburn, where the two of them are simultaneously so open and explicit with how attracted they are to each other yet struggle to reach levels of true intimacy, until they're willing to start chipping away at the defensive walls that this game makes up
