I’m currently faced with the task of forming my own study plan for the summer and beyond. Here is a gathering of templates and links that I’ve found. These are all just suggestions; I’ll be using them to inform my studying plan, but there’s no need to limit strictly to one format or another.

my korean has reached a level where i know most things but i'm not exactly fluent. this makes it hard for me to find the motivation to continue advancing my language learning. i’ve stalled it for months. now i’m just slowly picking it up again. goal setting for learning korean is something i should really get behind. but more on that later

for august, i planned to do vocab lists from shows i’m watching. there’s always more to learn with vocab and slangs. it’s never-ending. felt like a good place to start. also learning an ost for august from 알고있지만 even though i sound absolutely horrendous when i sing, it really helps with vocab and spellings

NEW Masterlist

안녕하세요 여러분! Hi everyone! I reorganized my masterlist so that it’s a little easier to navigate my lessons! The only change I made is that instead of organizing my lessons by numbered levels, I’m organizing them into levels based on how advanced they are. The numbered levels contained a smaller number of lessons in them, which was nice since it looked less overwhelming, but I think this new list organizes the lessons less arbitrarily. Also, I think it would be good if you’re new to my blog are unsure of where to start!

Also, don’t worry so much about the order of the lessons within each level. If any grammar structure has “prerequisites,” I’ll probably mention what you need to know in that given lesson if that makes sense. Just browse the list and see what you’re curious about!

All of the lessons that I have already posted will keep the level numbers in their titles (it would take me a while to change every single one of them!), but you can just ignore those. My future lessons, however, will be labeled with the proper difficulty level. I hope this new list is a more helpful way of navigating my blog!

Gay & Lesbian

同性恋 / tóng xìng liàn - literally: "same sex/nature attraction", used for "gay/homosexual" or gay person; formal!

同志 / tóng zhì - literally: "comrade" but colloquially means "gay"

啦啦 / lā lā - lesbian (borrowed from English word)

弯 / wān - literally: "bent", colloquially means "gay" or "queer"

Note: Many Chinese will just say "gay", the English word.

Bisexual

双性恋 / shuāng xìng liàn - literally "both sex/nature attraction"

Transgender

变性人 / biàn xìng rén - literally: "change sex/nature person"

Straight

异性恋 / yì xìng liàn - literally: "different sex/nature attraction", formal!

直 / zhí - literally "straight"

Extra

出柜 / chū guì - literally: "come out of the cupboard/cabinet", which means coming out of the coset

人妖 / rén yāo - literally: "monster person", used for transgender people; NOTE THAT THIS IS AN OFFENSIVE TERM

Musical Monday submissions are now open!

Hey all, I hope everyone is doing well!

So, I've decided to bring back Musical Mondays and I am opening submissions and requests for songs that are either in Korean or English.

I'm changing the format of Musical Mondays slightly, this time it's a mini version. So I will be picking 10 vocabs from each song and will be creating sample sentences from them.

This is where I need some help. I would be so appreciative if anybody could recommend me some songs to kick start this new series of Musical Mondays. Like I said before they can either be in Korean and I will translate them into English, or they can be English songs and I will attempt to translate them into Korean.

I think studying should be fun, not a chore, so I say let's learn and throw a few shapes and sing at the top of our lungs whilst we're at it!

finally started learning chinese again. i did it back during undergrad and got good grades even. but 5 years later i can’t even recall the basics of the basics. lately, my mum’s been obsessed with the untamed and dragged me down that rabbit hole too. we’ve both decided to learn chinese now. dragging my sis too in this mess soon.

started off with tones because it's always been such a daunting part when learning tonal languages. just wanted a refresher and get my basics right with the tones straightaway.

i’ve also set up a tracker on my bujo to do chinese every day through august alongside thai. am i being a bit too enthusiastic? yes, but let's see how my brain handles two tonal languages at once
