I have a habit of writing on the last page of my notebook - like it is for me the first page. Thinking that I'll be taking notes of whatever substantial info on what I'll be learning, I got my new notebook. Then I read that story written above. I was in a moment "the proudest mama" ever. Why? Because I am definitely nurturing a future author/writer and a brilliant man of my life.This is my son's first written short story, and as a seven years old boy, such would be commendable! Ironic it is, but we often appreciate things, places and people when we allow quiet distance and spaces between. I grew up in this tiny coastal barangay, living a very simple life. The truth is, I was never been appreciative of what I had because I had this idea that life will be good outside. That people in the city were privileged, and If I will live there, life will be easy and happy. Then maybe the sea god heared my utmost desire that things happened, actually unfortunate events that sent me away. I was 15. Aften then, I can only visit this place twice or thrice a year. Fast forward, I have a kid now, make a few wonderful friends and got a convenient job. It took me a long time to realize but believe me I was never been happy and fulfilled until I decided to go back. When I wake up in the morning and bring my coffee with the sun on face, I always travel back - a trip down memory lane. There are times when we want to take a break from reading a book. So we leave it marked by folding the corner of the page to read it later on. These past days, I've been so sleepy. I think it's my body saying "give me a break, I've been so stressed these past few years". Indeed, I have been struggling in all aspects of being alive. A fair share of doubts, insecurities, anxieties and of course broken heart and broken trust. Maybe it's my body saying "give me a break this time, a new year has yet to come. Surely, it will be bloody".Well how do I prepare for it? I've got plans, a lot. and whether or not I will accomplish them all as I planned them - it's as blurry as an old mirror. But maybe today, I will just sleep.

A few years back, I told myself to let it flow and see what happens. For someone like me so rational and skeptical, it was my altering ego that I hanged in the verge of death. All for my hope to be happy. But I didn't. Happiness is only a shadow in this lifetime, always unknown. The only certain is pain along with the inevitable changes. Therefore, not in control with your own emotions is your demise.

I thought things will be clearer as I get older. But the complexity of each stage was never been understood, more so it piled up as the level of difficulty rises. I become more resilient and stubborn to accept my defeat. I don't want to submit myself in this torment. I will and must continue to study my own existence.
