Eddie was un happily married, many gay guys in the closet do that for fear or non acceptance of themselves. Other thing the “I fucked your mom” was an internal joke, he knew he will die so he tried to don’t make Richie sad and have a last happy remember about him, also those weren’t his last words to Richie, they had a time together, so maybe in the extended movie we will see this. You need to watch the first movie to see that they are in love (even in this one there are certain moments)

I don’t think Reddie is canon

It’s obvious that Richie had a crush on Eddie but seems like it was unrequited love.

Eddie got married while Ritchie stayed single, which doesn’t entirely prove anything but I think at the end, while Eddie was dying, Ritchie wanted him to say something powerful or sincere from the person he loved but got friend zoned with “I fucked your mom”

Him saying that on his death bed was him putting their friendship and squabbling over any romantic feelings. You can tell Richie picked up on it to from the way he reacted to the joke.

“I fucked your mom” was a friend zone and Ritchie felt that. It was written on his face.

I might have missed something. It was a long movie, but was there any any scenes that made it obvious besides them arguing?
