Like, I've always thought that the silence that Toranosuke fell into during the last years of his life was similar to Kiyotaka's own catatonic state and that the two remaining Ishimarus had to take care of him. So picture it. Taka was watching over him one day, and some completely preventable deadly circumstances occurred. Toranosuke starts choking, perhaps. And Taka sees this and just... lets it be.

In that one moment alone, Kiyotaka decided something actually wasn't worth his effort. And Toranosuke, ironically, had struggled more in that moment than he ever had in his life before.
