Friendly reminder that most clones didn’t know about the inhibitor chips. It makes Cody’s ”we make our own decisions, our own choices, and we have to live with them too” hit a bit harder.

Strike Me Down With A Feather
“If you choose to face Vader, you will do it alone,” Ben warned Luke. “I cannot intervene.”
Luke paused halfway through getting up.
“...what?” he asked. “Why not?”
Ben blinked at him.
“I’m dead, Luke,” he said.
“That wouldn’t stop you showing up to distract him,” Luke replied. “I imagine you’d be quite distracting – you’re still able to give me advice right now.”
He pointed. “And Master Yoda over there was going on and on about how ‘cannot’ is a word that shouldn’t exist.”
“A point, he has,” Yoda said, nodding.
“Oh, don’t you start,” Ben muttered. “What do you expect me to do, exactly, Luke? Use the Force?”
Luke looked back at him.
“...actually, is that possible?” Ben asked, curious. “I’ve never tried.”
R2-D2 rose slowly into the air, then dropped again, and Ben examined his semi-transparent hands.
“...hold on a minute, please,” he requested, and faded out.
Several thousand light years away, the pitch-black rock ceiling of Emperor Palpatine’s office creaked, then came free and mashed him absolutely flat.
“Well, well,” Ben said, fading back into view on Dagobah. “It appears that what I told Anakin was literally true, I have become more powerful than he could possibly imagine.”
“...what?” Luke asked. “Did you say Anakin?”
Ben looked put out.
“Whoops,” he said. “Oh well. Leia’s your sister. May as well get it all out there now.”

sometimes I’m like “god I wish I could just steal my favorite fanfiction author and stick them in a house and pay them to write fanfics as their full time job” and then I remember that’s basically what art patronage was

things you might not know about ao3 but seem obvious in hindsight:
ao3 = archive of our own (three o’s)
the logo is “ao3” stylized
orphan_account isn’t one author but rather the name all accounts are given once they’re orphaned
bookmarks are public by default
once given, kudos can’t be taken back
drafts get automatically deleted quickly so use a different drafting platform to avoid that
you need an ao3 account to view locked fics and it doesn’t take long to apply & get one
ao3’s archive software is open source and free to use
you can change the way the site looks on your phone/computer
ao3 is run entirely on donations
no really, read why here

a feel like the new generation of fanfic readers NEED to understand that clicking on a fic (interaction) does nothing. ao3 has no algorithm. your private discord discussions of fic do not reach the authors. if you do not actively engage with writers they will stop posting. this isn’t social media this is community.

but actually the idea of Gotham being eldritch-y or like American Gods where belief/fear/prayers = power means there’s a world where Bruce came home from one of his first successful weeks of patrol high as balls literally stumbling all over the Manor with a concerned Alfred trailing behind him because Gotham’s fear and belief in the Bat is so unexpected and heady that it takes him — even someone as superhuman as him — time to adjust.
…which also means there’s a world where that same Bruce gets to watch every new Robin “get” it as they come home to the Manor after their first patrol. he gets to see Dick’s confusion morph into wonder and into something ageless, leaking out at the edges of his mask. he gets to hear Jason’s choked-off breath as Gotham’s love for Robin hits him the first time.

one of those time travel AUs where Vader goes back into his body as Anakin before he fell to the dark side and fixes everything. Palpatine is dead, the Jedi are alive, and everyone's happy. He never found out who Luke's twin sister was, but that's fine because this time around he'll get to know both of them from birth. The twins are born and Padmé says she wants to name their daughter Leia! :) And Anakin thinks, Hmm. Looking back I can see that Princess Leia was a good person, and we were only enemies because I went and became a Sith. Okay we can name our daughter Leia :)
Years pass and Leia starts growing older. The Organas adopt a completely different girl. Anakin's looking at his daughter like no, it can't be. No way. Do NOT tell me that Princess Leia was Luke's twin all along, but time keeps passing and it becomes increasingly apparent that this is indeed the case, and now he's having a Crisis
