Little Light Chapter 2
Lucy was furious, but she hid her emotions well. She went over to her suitcase and pulls out her laptop and medical supplies. She presses the power button and goes over to the bathroom while Barry looks around the big room in curiosity.
When she takes off her black tank top she is relived and pissed at the same time. When it is off of her body she can clearly see that it is in tatters and her body is marked with two different types of wounds, flesh wounds and bullet grazes. The grazes she quickly cleans up and bandages, but when it comes time to deal with the flesh wounds she stops. There are two flesh wounds, one in her left arm and one in her left leg. As she inspects and feels them while wincing she finds that the bullets went through clean, without hitting and major arteries. Lucy throws on a random red tank top and calls in Barry.
“Do you know how to sew?”
“Yeah why do you- Oh god you’re bleeding!”
“Yeah. I can see that. Can you help me stitch up my arm?”
“I suddenly feel light headed.”
“That should be my line.” Lucy then grabs some floss and a needle. “All I need you to do is hold my arm steady and hold the wound shut.”
“Is that floss?”
“Yes. It keeps my wounds minty fresh.” She then directs Barry how to hold her arm and the wound, then she begins.
“Doesn’t this hurt?”
“Yeah, but after a while you get used to it.” Barry then looks at Lucy with concern but she just brushes it off as she continues to pull her skin back together. Barry looks very queasy while Lucy look calm, unaffected by what she is doing.
After she stitches up her arm she pushes Barry out of the bathroom and handles her leg a lot quicker and with less interuptions. When she is done she discards her tattered jeans and slips on black sweatpants.
When she leaves the bathroom her computer is started up. She flops onto her bed and types in her password and instead of the normal desktop appearing a database appears. She moves her cursor to the search bar and types in inhanced humans. The moment she hits the search button multiple documents pop up with different sections highlighted. They keep popping up until they fill up the screen and start overlapping each other. Lucy sighs and Barry comes to lay next to her, looking over her shoulder.
“Whatcha doin’” Barry asks as he looks.
“Trying to figure out who is trying to kill us.” As Lucy reads over the documents she pauses. She then goes up to the search bar again and adds to it and hits search again. About half of the results go away and all that remains is relevant information. What remains is info on Superman, a woman named Diana Prince, an “Aquaman”, a boy grew up in Gotham, and the man of the hour, Barry Allen.
“Who is Amanda Waller?” Lucy then pull out her phone and scrolls through her contacts.
“The woman who about to be on the recieving end of an angry phone call.” Lucy then gets up and walks out to the hallway but is stopped by a man with her pizza order, who she quickly gives money to and hands the pizza boxes to Barry as she shuts the door in Barry’s face. She then glares at the delivery boy who quickly scatters out of the hallway. When he is gone she goes through her contacts until she finds Waller’s number, dialing it.
“What do you want Lucy?” Lucy controls her voice as she responds.
“Oh, nothing much, just asking a few questions.”
“Such as?”
“Did you dispatch a team to a hospital to attempt to take in an enhanced named Barry Allen?”
“I am not allowed to say-“
“So, I’m going to assume the answer is yes. Here’s how this is going to work Waller. You are going to observe the target, but if I hear so much as sqeak of a boot I will be all over your ass.” Amanda tries to talk buy gets cut off. “I have the assets, money, and power to take you and your little Suicide Squad project down, so don’t even try me! Lay a hand on Barry and you are as good as dead! Are we clear?” Lucy hears a harsh whisper of an agreement on the other end. “Good. Have a nice day.” Lucy then hangs up and opens the door, just for Barry to come tumbling out with a shocked face.
“So, I’m guessing you heard all of that?” When Barry looks away meekly Lucy sighs. “Let’s talk about this while we eat pizza.” She then reaches down and pulls him up. Then, they walk inside.
Lucy stares at Barry as he starts his second box of pizza. “So...where should I begin?”
“How do you know her?” Barry asks between bites, making her wince slightly.
“I come from a very influential family, having their money in many organizations, with some good and some bad. Waller’s program is what I would call a necessary evil ever since Superman showed himself. When that happened all of the enhanced people showed themselves, and not all of them are good like you, so countermeasures were introduced, such as the Suicide Squad. My father helped them with funds and they help us by sharing info when needed.”
“So you don’t know her directly?”
“Nope. That makes threatening a dangerous woman a little bit easier. Especially when I have you here speedy.”
“What are we going to do now?” At this point he has finished the pizza and stands in front of Lucy.
“I know a place here in Central City so that we can continue to go to school and you can still see your father.”
“Where is it?”
“You’ll see. One of my brothers and I used to crash there when we would travel out here.”
“I thought you grew up in Gotham?” Barry gives Lucy a confused look.
“I visited Central City from time to time when my brothers or my father had business here.” She then paused and realized something. “So, how are we gonna deal with the elephant in the room?”
“What do you think I should do?” Barry asks Lucy, looking at her with the Puppy Eyes, but she stands her ground.
“It doesn’t matter what I think. This is your powers and your life Bar. I’m just here to help you when you decide what to do, but if you need a special suit for running around with your powers let me know. I know a guy.” She then puts her hand on his shoulder and gives him a small smile.
“It seems like you know a lot of people.” Lucy then laughs.
“It sure seems like it, huh.”

Little Light Chapter 1
A girl sits at a long dining room table by herself. The sound of silverware scraping against her plate echos through the room as she swiftly eats.
Again, her father was gone while she was home and when she was gone he was at home, sleeping.
She was tired of this routine.
Her phone goes off when she is almost done with her food.
“Are you by any chance Lucy?” A feminine voice questions her.
“Yes and this is?”
“My name is Claire. Your-“ She pauses and Lucy hears papers shuffling in the background. “Close friend Barry Allen is currently in the hospital.” At this point Lucy stops eating and stands up.
“Where?” Lucy then immediately hangs up when she gets the information and leaves the room to pack.
—————————————————————
When she arrives at the hospital she shoves her friend’s door open. Barry lays on the bed looking peaceful in his hospital gown. He, unusually, seems to be in his head thinking through something, so Lucy waits for him to finish his thoughts, sitting next to him on the bed.
Lucy then looks on his bedside table internally sighs as she spots a glass of water and pills. She pick them up and finally speaks.
“Barry?” Her voice comes out soft. He jumps, snapping out of his thoughts and looks over at Lucy with happiness, then disappointment when he sees the pills in her hands.
“They got the wrong room?” He states more as a question than a statement, looking at her with guilt. Lucy grabs the cup of water in the other hand and just stares at him, saying nothing. Barry looks back at her, seemingly unaffected by her gaze at first, but as time goes on he looks more uncomfortable. When he can’t take her gaze anymore he quickly pops the pills and downs the water. “I hate it when you use the Death Stare on me!”
“And I hate having to use it. Now that we have gotten the most important thing out of the way...” She goes and hugs him tightly to her, to which she freezes. “I was so worried when I got the call. What happened?” She releases him so she can get a better look at him. He then looks at her again with guilt, brushing the back of his head.
“I may or may not have gotten struck by lightning.”
“Barry?!”
“Also, it may or may not have came through the window you told me to keep shut when it rains.”
“Barry! You dummy! You had one job!” She give him a judgemental look. At this point a blonde woman walks in.
“Lucy?”
“Yes, and you are?”
“Claire, now I need you out in the hallway for a few minutes.” Lucy then looks over at Barry.
“I’ll be right back. Do me a favor and try not to break anything.” She then steps out in the hallway with Claire and immediately notices the emptiness of the hallway. She moves her hand behind her back, gripping the nightstick in her right back pocket. “So, what did you need me out here for?”
“There is something what you would like to call inhuman going on with your friend, so some special people want to bring him in, so no hard feeling, right?” Claire then pulls out a syringe. This makes Lucy pull out her nightstick and flick it down, extending it.
“Barry! Get ready to go! We need to leave!” Lucy then launches forward with her nightstick raised. It hits Claire’s hand, sending the syringe flying. Lucy then tries to hit Claire’s neck, but she blocks. Claire then winds back for a punch, but Lucy knocks her feet out from under her. Claire falls to the floor. Lucy then picks up the syringe and straddles Claire. She then stabs the syringe into Claire’s neck and presses down the plunger.
Lucy holds Claire down until she stills. When Claire stops moving Lucy starts to stand, just to be greeted by a bullet wizzing you her head.
“Really?!” She yells as she ducks behind a piece of medical equipment. She glances over to Barry’s door and then scrambled towards it, praying her friend was stupid enough to not lock it. When she gets over to it she swings it open then slams it shut. When she turns around she is met with a shirtless Barry. Lucy then looks to the side, finding his shirt and throwing it at him.
“Barry! Put your shirt on! We need to move!” Lucy whispers harshly.
“Why are we whispering?”
“Armed men are outside. Five are coming down the hall and the rest are scattered around the building. Basically we are surrounded.”
“Why do you sound so calm?”
“Because slowpoke I have an idea.” She then opens the window and turns around. “Barry, do you trust me?”
“Of course! I made you my primary emergency contact. We went through some crazy stuff in college and-“ Before he can continue Lucy picks him and throws him out the window.
The door bursts open and men start to open fire. She throws herself out the window as glass and bullets scatter around her. Unfortunately for her quite a few bullets graze her on her fall towards the trash below.
She winces when she pops out of the trash and almost sprints off, but she stops. In front of her stands Barry, unmoving.
“Barry.” He stands still. “Barry!” She exclaims as she moves to his front, revealing his shock. She sighs and tries to take his hand and drag him off. He takes her hand easily and they walk off, but Barry is dragging his feet, making the process a lot more difficult and slower. Lucy looks over at Barry again and sees a far off look. She sighs and stops moving, positioning him so that she was the only thing he could focus on. “Let’s make this not as scary. Let’s make it a race and the loser has to buy pizza! First one to the hotel wins. How does that sound?”
“There are armed men shooting at us. They are going to-“
“Barry please! Run now. Talk later.” Lucy then turns around just as she starts to hear the faint sound of boots slapping against the ground.
She runs across the street to the nearby alleyway. She jumps up to pull down the ladder for the fire escape and climbs up, then quickly pulls the ladder back up. She then scales the building and stands over the ledge, scanning the buildings up ahead.
At this moment the power surges, but she doesn’t pay too much mind to it, focusing instead on the opposite rooftop. She then turns around quickly when she hears panicked breath behind her, revealing Barry with his clothes looking like they were ripped or possibly burned.
“Wow Barry, I’m impressed. Normally I beat you by a few minutes. I guess I need to increase my training.” At this point Barry’s stomach then growls. “We need to hurry up.” Bullets then start flying upward towards them.
“Get on my back.”
“I don’t think a piggyback ride will help-“
“Earlier you asked me to trust you. Now I am asking you to trust me.” Lucy sighs as she hops on Barry’s back.
“Here is the address of the hotel. It is about thirty minutes away.” She hands Barry her phone with the address pulled up. He looks over it a couple of seconds as footsteps pound closer.
“Whenever you are ready-“ She then stops herself as she sees that the scenery has changed to the rooftop across from her hotel. She gets off of his back and he opens his mouth about to speak, but she places a finger over his mouth to silence him. She then beckons him along.
“We will talk about this in the room.”
When they get to the hotel Lucy guides Barry to her room. When they shut the door Lucy uses the phone and dials a number.
“Hi, is there anyway I could order four pizzas for delivery?”
