Every time I advocate for voting people are like "no you shouldn't vote! Read this literature, it'll totally change the way you view voting!" genuinely curious what the guys running boeing think the problem with boeing is. bad press blowing up safety concerns out of proportion? revenue-maximizing ideas were sound in principle, but they were failed by their underlings? i certainly doubt it is genuine self-critical remorse. but i would be curious to know where they think they went wrong.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth almost has *too much* video game in it. It’s demonstrating the limits of the LAD formula.

To their infinite credit, they carefully reuse assets and mechanics - it allows them to turn out large games with lots of stuff to do in less time than other games. It keeps the games feeling like a cohesive universe without feeling cheaply made. They’ve also been responding to how people like it when the minigames have their own little campaign.

The downside is that in Infinite Wealth, those campaigns are so long that they almost feel like a game unto themselves, and when you try to do them all alongside the main story, it ends up feeling… overstuffed.

It’s like they need an editor somewhere to clip their excesses, both in plot and mini games. It’s hard to say, because I don’t want them to strip out all the ancillary stuff, but maybe they need to shift it towards quality over quantity. The story beats sometimes take forty sentences to reveal five sentences’ worth of plot, and the Animal Crossing game has too many little checkboxes for how deep the actual game is.

Like, don’t get me wrong, none of it’s bad! I just think that, like, they need to maybe not go bigger than this. You’ve found the upper limit of where it’s still enjoyable before it becomes an Ubisoft game, so stick with this!
