Hi everyone, I’m so sorry I disappeared for the last month.

My exams got really stressful on top of starting the job interview process that I honestly felt too overwhelmed to post. I’ve also been exploring my gender identity and obv I already realized I’m a trans man before I was gone but I’ve been processing what being a man is to me and how I express myself so I just needed some time to do that. I’m still figuring myself out, I mean that’s what college is for right?

To update on my Billy paper, my prof changed the assignment to just a class presentation, but I still wanted to give back to the Billy fandom so I do still want to write out my analysis for my presentation, I just need to reformat my notes and edit more.

I’m honestly really insecure in my writing ability (thank you junior year English teacher) so Ive been working at improving my confidence in that area, but as a result, I haven’t made much fandom content in the past month or so.

So, for this week since my new classes haven’t picked up much yet I will work on my Billy analysis and try to have at least part of it up by the end of the week <3

condemn a dead fictional ass person (y'all are ridiculous for this) for how they reacted to their trauma when you bully people online, dox them, tell them to off themselves, call them slurs and then use the "I was abused too and I didn't act like Billy" card, you yourselves aren't reacting very healthily to your trauma. You're also such fucking hypocrites.

Victim blaming is a really horrible belief, and I hope you all unlearn it. I really do. That's the thing, isn't it? We all have the power to unlearn beliefs. But saying people deserve to die because of a belief, especially when you're barely an adult, is really fucked up. We change. We grow up. We get away from negative influences if we have the power to do so.

Billy Hargrove isn't real. A lot of people like myself relate to him, not Will or Jonathan because we didn't have a support system. We don't pick and choose who we relate to if we've been abused. We don't choose to be abused.

Another thing: if you assume off the bat that liking an abused character means you have been abused and you want us to "convert" "see the light" and "get well", I urge you to go to the congregation closest to you, because that shit is straight from extremely toxic church values.

Stranger things is just a supernatural version of the Goldbergs at this point but people actually watch it

So much of the storytelling in Stranger Things since season one has evolved around the consumption of official fan gear which has irrevocably damaged their ability to write a coherent and meaningful story with characters who exist beyond their exaggerated and shallow descriptions without being beholden to their collaborations with brands and musicians. Furthermore, characters and plotlines that can't be capitalized on are thrown out and sidelined. Their in universe red-scare-esque villains and unironically expressed love of capitalism cements the fact that profit over storytelling has been informing Stranger Things for a while now. billy physically moves steve’s hand to his head when he wants his hair played with. like, he’ll try to be subtle at first. just snuggle up close. act all cuddly. pretend to fall asleep because he knows steve gets extra affectionate when they’re both all drowsy. usually steve gets the hint, can figure out what billy wants and will gladly oblige, but sometimes he’s too tired or too distracted or too oblivious to pick up on billy’s cues. and that’s when billy grabs steve’s wrist, refusing to let steve hold his hand because the man is on a mission, and places steve’s hand on head, holds it there until he feels steve thread his fingers through his hair and start playing with it. and when billy decides he’s had enough? he will swat steve’s hand away as if he’d never wanted steve to touch him in the first place. will move to the opposite end of the couch or steal all the covers and roll into a blanket burrito at the other end of the bed. billy is a house cat, is what i’m saying.
