“If you need to talk we can do it here.” Gareth responds, tone sharp as he addresses the wolf before him. He appears to bristle with unease--an air of energy about him as he shifts his weight, observing their surroundings with a steely gaze. He didn’t trust the wolves--maybe it was his vampire half--maybe it was because he seldom had good run-ins with them, but his usual cool demeanor is faltering with each second spent in the library. He finally turns his gaze to the original, sizing her up. “Something’s got your feathers ruffled and I doubt it’s me.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
╰ °✧ ☾ stepping behind the LIBRARY’S counter she greets her guest with a dip of her head. ariella isn’t her usual lively self. brow is creased, wrinkles etched into her skin, telling a story of worry & distress. ‘ if you can follow me please… ’ the original wolf begins, mind occupied. she was more so going through the motions than thinking. back turns to them beginning her walk ahead.

When Gareth turned on his heel, his mouth was open-ready to fire off some sarcastic comment or threat, but once he noticed the keys, it promptly shut again, the heretic feeling his pockets. “Oh. Um---thank you.” He took them with a flicker of a smile, clearly a little surprised by the scenario. “Sorry--I’m more used to people taking things in this city. So--thanks, miss...?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Excuse me!” her words were soft and quiet and when she got no reaction, she attempted to speak a little louder, “Excuse me— sorry,” she waited until the stranger turned around, “I think you dropped these.” her hand lifted up; a set of keys within them. Liliana had been minding her own business when she had seen the keys fall to the ground and she couldn’t not ignore it.

“Clearly.” Gareth mused, brow raised as he turned his attention from their surroundings to the man speaking, gaze almost immediately dropping to the bloody nose--it appeared healed. “Do tell me how that works out for you because you seem to have missed a spot. Or several.” His head cants to the right slightly, expression verging on amused. “Do I want to know?”

“So I’m tryin’ this new thing where I try to be organized.” He looked up. Alasdair was sitting in a chair that wasn’t his within a home that was neither his nor the Erikson manor. He had a list of names hastily written down a piece of crumpled paper with spots of blood against the white colour. He had a bloody nose from earlier which had healed faster than he had managed to clean himself up. “An’ways, it’s been a real challenge.”

“You know, there is this new invention called the internet.” Gareth mused in response, not even looking up from his book--it wasn’t his fault the other man was speaking loudly--it was practically begging for a sarcastic response. “I hear it answers all sorts of fun questions like that.”

Despite there being a multitude of priorities that Tadgh should have put first, he had decided that he could put those on the back burner for today.  In fact, even though Tadgh already had a weird feeling about the air of seriousness in New Orleans, he decided to push all of that aside.  Today, he only had one thing that riddled his mind.  He sighed loudly and groaned, “Where can I get the best donuts in New Orleans?”

she hadn’t noticed him stepping around her arm until it had all ready been done, and angelina reflexively reached out, dainty hand fumbling, but then wrapping around his hand. “ please, ” she said, voice dropped to almost a whisper. she didn’t know the kid, but she also didn’t want to see his body on the local news that evening. “ that might be something more than a big dog. ” she very gently tugged back, like a small child would. “ c’mon. you too. ” he seemed smart enough, but he’d moved beyond her barrier, so he wasn’t that smart, in her opinion.
Tumblr media
And back to the judgmental glances, directed at the hand that was suddenly wrapped around his. He sighed, even rolled his eyes, but made no effort to shake her off. If she wanted to think she was helping-let her. “It most likely is. But I’ve dealt with this particular manner of beast before.” He scowled, finally setting aside his curiosity to listen to the other, taking a step back when she tugged at him. “Very well.” He still stood in front of her, sharp gaze fixated on the tree line, hair standing on edge as he watched for any sign of aggressive movement, magic bristling with anticipation. But it was quiet as they moved away. “You don’t have to be so concerned about me. I can handle myself you know.”

Nicolette resisted the urge to roll her eyes when Gareth told her that she was no fun-but she pouted a bit playfully as she watched him yanking the girl’s head to the side and sank his fangs in her flesh. A grin tugged her lip as she heard the small yelp, easily catching her and sinking her own fangs in her neck, the sweet, hot blood filling her mouth and almost draining her, not making a single drop. “I can be fun,” she  said once she pulled away from her. “Just a bit bored of the waiting and the begging to spare her life.”
“She’s human, you can hardly blame the young thing.” They almost always acted the same way--now the fighters? The ones who thought they stood a chance? They were fun. Falling back against the wall, the heretic simply observed the hybrid--if he felt any sympathy for the young girl, it never registered on his face. Just cold amusement. “Oh, can you now? I wonder just what your definition of fun is, my dear.”

Luckily someone did stop or else she would have had to compel someone in order to get the most basic information out of them. Of course, as always, Nwe Orleans remained busy, almost untouchable for tourists as New Orleans had its own mind, heart and soul with all citizens looking out for themselves. So, as google didn’t really help, the first somewhat approachable-looking person had to suffice in order to get her desired information. Luckily it did. “I remember sneaking in and getting my drinks without an ID, so – I’m all for that. Now, with 24, she still looked young and always would be – a different curse for her, most definitely. “I’m Katherine by the way and you are?” she didn’t recognize him at all, but maybe he was just a tourist, who knew more about New Orleans than she did, apparently – impressive, actually.
“I’m miserable, thirsty and bored, so that’s not a combination I’d like to uphold, so drinking it is. Besides I just feel like losing control today, again,” Katherne raised her left eyebrow. “I could use a partner in crime.”
Tumblr media
Well, she was chatty. Not that he minded--he’d rather deal with that instead of someone who was an intolerable bore. He offered a smile in response to her little story, dipping his chin in a small nod. “Gareth. Pleased to meet you, Katherine. Coming back to the city then?” She knew of Obrien’s and had even mentioned sneaking in years ago, he was mildly curious about this one.
“That is a dreadful combination, I can’t blame you.” He added with a laugh, smile widening at her offer. “You seem like a troublemaker--I’m in.” He gestures for her to walk beside him, moving to their destination. “Do you ask strangers to drinks often? Seems like a bad habit.”

It wasn’t a ghost that Nova saw, or at least he didn’t think it was. But he couldn’t believe what his ears were telling him. He curiously held up a potted plot with a look of awe and terror. “…This plant just told me it was my father, and I’m not sure what to believe.” Little did he know that this new plant he had adopted was previously decor for the hallways of the movie theatre and often recited movie lines.
Gareth blinked, eyes bouncing between the plant and the other man, a brow slowly arching. “Uh-huh. Well, I wouldn’t believe the plant but---that’s just me.” He gestured to the other. “You seem to lack the usual--plant-like features. Does the plant say anything else interesting?”

Now that was certainly a new one. All the times they met before, she barely found his presence tolerable, but here he was with the dearest tacked to her name. ❝I wasn’t going to kill her, if that’s what she’s worried about.❞ No she was passed that stage. It was like this reality gave her an allergy to murder, but that made things a little bit more creative. ❝I needed to borrow her eyes. I’d give them back eventually.❞ Probably in a jar though.
“Her eyes?” His usually calm demeanor wavered for a moment, giving way to shock. “Now I heard through the rumor mill that you turned off your humanity, but that still hints at darker magic. Just what are you up to?” His eyes narrowed slightly at the other heretic--almost wary of her. Her humanity was turned off--that added an element of chaos that he would typically appreciate. Not so much when he was standing against it. After a moment of deliberation, he huffed, taking a step between the witch and heretic, effectively separating them. “Not this witch, Jenny. I’ve grown rather attached to her and I doubt she’d talk to me if I let you mutilate her. Go find some--hedge witch somewhere.”

Lisa believed that she had grown out of the vulnerable states in her life. She was no longer the type of person to be afraid and was now the type of person to instil fear in others. It fit her quite nicely, in her opinion, and she enjoyed how she was now even better than the men who had originally introduced her to this life style.
“He owes me money.” She began. “And this is the first time that I’ve come to collect in person. But he might be scared of you too.”
“If you’re here he must owe you a substantial amount.” Clicking his tongue with disapproval, he half turns to face the other, grinning widely. “Scared of little old me? Can’t imagine why. And I haven’t even done anything yet.” Outside of his usual tricks. “No--I think he’s scared of you.” Which was fascinating.
“How much does he owe you anyway? I’d offer to assist but--you seem to have the situation under control.”

With the way Gareth spoke sometimes, she wondered if he was talking to another plane of existence. Considering what he was, it wouldn’t surprise her really. “I’ll cry when I’m dead.” She rolled her eyes. “I thought asking an asshole would shed some light on why another one is being a dick, but I was clearly wrong. And no, it couldn’t have been her shoes…. I don’t know. I did get drunk some nights ago, so I might have casted something. Who the fuck knows? Drunk magic is the worst.”
“Hmm--that’s a healthy mentality to have.” And this was coming from him--clearly the expert on healthy mindsets. His bottom lip stuck out in a small pout--but he waved off her comment quickly enough. “Oh hush, you know how much I hate disappointing people." Sighing deeply, he shifted his weight from one foot to the other--actually trying to think of some advice to Mohana. “She’s turned off her humanity, love. Even I can’t rationalize a mind like that. My advice? Steer clear until she decides to fix herself....I would notice if you were to disappear.” He rested a hand on his chest, feigning offense. “Drunk hexing and you didn’t invite me? I’m hurt.”

Rosemarie was distracted, trying to make out the quiet, steady whispering in her head. She had decided if she could just decode what the voices were saying, it would be the key to finding out what was wrong with her and how to stop it. “I’m sorry, what’d you say? I didn’t hear you. Well, I didn’t even notice you.” Her eyebrows were furrowed in confusion.
That was an unfamiliar feeling---going unnoticed that is. Gareth simply hummed in reply, head tilting as he observed the strange woman. She did appear rather out of it, he was surprised he didn’t notice in the first place. “Nothing worth repeating.” He finally responds with a sigh, almost sounding disappointed. “Besides, you still seem a little---off. Distracted?”

age: twenty-two/347 orgin: andover, massachusetts species: heretic sexuality: bisexual pronouns: he/him
past
Growing up as the only witch in his family was difficult–the fact that his family moved to Salem mere months before the infamous Trials made things all the worse. Raised to hide and ignore his abilities, Gareth was a black sheep among his family, and when the Trials started and accusations were being thrown, he overheard his father planning to turn Gareth in. Running away that very night, the young witch ran into the hybrid who would turn into his savior.
It was only a year before the hysteria and paranoia faded away and Gareth was able to return home, a year spent training and building upon his craft, finding his tether in the volatility of fire. Upon returning home, Gareth’s family only shunned him further–having thought that they put all forms of witchcraft behind them–as far as his family was concerned, he was no part of them. Days later–a fire claimed the lives of several members of the Dane family.
Years passed and Gareth found immortality to suit him as he bounced from coven to coven, city to city, learning the ins-and-outs of witchcraft. While he excels at manipulating the elements-fire in particular-he has become rather adept at communicating with the dead–taking a page from his vampiric nature, he draws upon the life force of others to power his own magic.
present
Drawn in by the power and knowledge New Orleans has to offer, Gareth has finally made his way to the city, eager to learn whatever secrets the city has to offer. He has also heard rumors of other hybrids living in the city–something else that has caught his interest. He currently resides in the French Quarter and can often be found at the warehouse or herb shop.
personality
It is fitting that his focus element is fire as Gareth is passionate and vivacious, if not reckless and volatile. Gareth’s charm is rivaled only by his ambition and desire for power, the hybrid constantly searches for ways to expand his abilities–even if they are considered ‘dark magic’. Despite being a hybrid, he feels more at home with witches and has spent most of his immortal life bouncing from coven to coven, both teaching and learning what he can. He is protective of witches and hybrids alike and isn’t above taking a life to protect his own–or get what he wants.
connections
CASSANDRA CLINE, For centuries Cassandra has been on his tail and he knows it. He also knows just how powerful she is, and that she has the ability to kill him. He knows she’ll do so without mercy because she’s killed past aquatints of his. Gareth just hopes he can stay behind the line of safety as long as possible. Though he figures if he does run into the huntress he can talk his way out of it.
AUSTIN SMITH, He senses the darkness within Austin. It puzzles him and allures him, he’s hopeful to make his acquaintance. He’s approached Austin in NOLA’s french quarter a time or two, but the witch simply shrugs him off or ignores him. Gareth believes it’s all in good fun and is down for the game.
MARCUS, He’s decided to make a plaything out of Marcus. Marcus approached him one evening offering a joint in greeting and Gareth gladly accepted. Since Marcus had an appearance the two have fooled around time to time, but he can’t quite place Marcus’ madness. Often Marcus starts ramblings that not even Gareth and his age can decipher. However he figures he can with time. Plus, it helps Marcus is a tasty bite to eat.
gareth is portrayed by CAMERON MONAGHAN and his face claim is NON-NEGOTIABLE. he is currently TAKEN.

Nicolette stared at the cowering human as she leaned on the side, her heartbeat thundering in her ears. “Gareth just kill her and get it over with before I do,” she snapped. “The more she whines, the more I want to rip her tongue out of her useless, whimpering mouth.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Nicolette--” His tone is almost disappointed as he addresses her, as if he is scolding her. “--you’re no fun.” Gareth mutters, running a finger down the cheek of their chosen victim, tracing the trail of a tear. “You would rush the hunt. You take the fun right out of this in your desire for a quick kill.” But the human’s whining was grating. Moving swiftly, he yanked the girls head to the side, exposing her neck. He hesitated for only a moment before sinking his fangs into the exposed flesh, a small yelp coming from the human before she slumped in his arms. He left her alive, pulling away and pushing the girl in Nicolette’s direction. “Try not to make a mess.”

staring into the shadows that slunk through the nearby tree grove, angelina kept her arm out in front of the boy, protecting him. “ dog, ” she replied, brown eyes still wide, spooked. “ big dog. ” werewolf, maybe. but the witch wasn’t aware weather he knew of werewolves, so she kept it vague. “ i wouldn’t go any closer. it’s still in there. ” she could hear it, the heartbeat of an animal, the staticy thoughts of something feral, beastly, lurking just behind the foliage.
Eyes dropped to the outstretched arm to the Angelina’s face, back to the arm, a brow arching in an unspoken ‘really?’ before he stepped past. “In New Orleans? Well, I wonder what that could be.” Finding a wolf wasn’t anything entirely out of the ordinary--but one so close to town? That was cause for some concern. “I wasn’t planning on it.” He mutters in response, keeping his eyes on the nearby treeline. “Back up and just--don’t move too quickly.”
