"Hey!" Sutton called, lifting herself from where she'd melted into the couch as she heard her best friend speak. "I was beginning to think you got lost." she joked, though she wasn't necessarily kidding. She herself felt like the cabin she'd made her home once she arrived to Kismet was out in the middle of nowhere. "Though now that I see you have coffee, you're forgiven." she smiled, taking the coffee from her best friend and leaning in to give her a hug, letting it linger for longer than she'd anticipated; she needed it. "I'm curious to see what you brought me but I also don't want to let go of you just yet." @blakewest
Who: @suttonmjames Where: Sutton's House.
Blake knocked on Sutton's door softly with a coffee in one hand and a bag of vintage baby clothes she had picked up while she was in Seattle with Sorel. She didn't understand how her daughter would be going off to college in a couple of weeks. It honestly blew her mind to see how beautiful a young woman her daughter had become. "Hey." Sutton said, lifting both her coffee and the large brown bag in her hands as she spoke. "I come bearing gifts, and no, you can't stop me." Blake said quickly to her best friend, loving the fact that she gets to spoil her and her baby now. "This is low-key revenge for when you got Sorel that annoying monkey toy when she was five." @suttonmjames

"If they can change my life I will eat them every day for the rest of my life." she stated. An innocent enough one in the moment but not something she was necessarily kidding about. If this plate of fries could make her life back to where it was just a few months ago now, she'd do it with no question. She had expected silence after that, yet the other's voice had her glancing at him instead. "I'm beginning to think I should have." she sighed, shaking her head. Though, she knew regardless of how much she wanted to retreat back to Philadelphia she just couldn't bring herself to it. It was too painful and the more she thought about it the more her heart ached. "Mediation doesn't feel like something people do around here." she admitted. "Maybe I'm wrong but I don't know. Cult vibes I can see, but meditation I'm not sure I do." @knoxwallace
"Just moved here then? I get it. Took me awhile to get settled too," he said, though admittedly he wasn't sure just how settled he really was. He'd fallen into a routine of sorts, was working on rebuilding a relationship with his family, but the surprise run in with Maddox had brought his itch to run right back again. "See? Good plate of fries can change your life, that's what I've always been told." Knox took a few bites of his own plate, swigging them down with his beer for good measure. The beer was really the main star of the show for him, but he was never going to turn down good food either. "Oh, yeah, definitely get out before you finish unpacking. The people here are too nice, you know what I mean? Gives off those small town cult vibes." On the whole most people he'd met had been incredibly kind, something Knox didn't know what to do with. He'd never been the guy to sit and chat about his life, but people in the small town loved it. "If you can't drown them with alcohol, definitely hard drugs, grand theft auto, maybe a good dose of larceny. Or, you know, people go out on the water a lot. Nature walks. You could probably get into that meditation shit, go zen out in the woods. Lots of options."

"Thanks for that." Sutton sighed, slightly smiling at the other's words. She wasn't one that loved being grumpy, but, being this miserable didn't exactly make her feel very chipper either. "I'm just trying to adjust to everything." she admitted, though left it at that. If the other wanted to know, he'd ask. She'd decide then what to tell him. "That's reassuring." she stated, eyes focusing on the fries. She lifted one, bringing it to her lips and taking a tiny bite. "They're not bad." she admitted. "That seasoning they have is pretty good." she admitted with another shrug, taking another small bite before sipping on the ginger ale. "Also good to know this place is terrible. Guess it's a good thing I haven't finished unpacking yet." While the idea of starting over here wasn't great knowing what she was getting into, it certainly wasn't as painful as staying in Philadelphia had been. “What do people do around here when they don’t want to remember why they’re here but also can’t drown their sorrows?” @knoxwallace
The attitude didn't bother Knox at all, he'd been there himself more than his fair share of times, a dark cloud on the people around him. It was something he'd been working on changing, though, putting himself in a better mindset. "No, by all means, you're good, dude. Totally entitled to be rude if you want," he shrugged. As long as he had a beer in his hand and a plate full of fries, the company next to him could be anyone. "Best fries I've found in town so far, they hit every time." Mostly because he was usually a few drinks in by the time he got to them and at that point any fries were good fries, but even sober they were still pretty solid. "But, no, absolutely not. This town is a backwoods hell space and a piece of my soul dies every day I'm here. Run while you still can."

Exhaling, Sutton offered him a small smile. "Thank you." she sighed, wiping at her cheek again as another lose tear fell. "Being a single parent was never in the cards for me." she stated. "Or it wasn't supposed to be, but now I guess I don't have much choice." she stated before she looked at him again. "How'd you do it? I mean, I love this baby so much already." she stated. "But knowing I have to do this alone -" she paused. "It's not easy. And I know I can do it." she nodded. "I just don't know where to start." she exhaled. "I know the basics, diapers, wipes, bottles, a crib." she shrugged. "But that's about it and it doesn't help that I moved away from family." she explained further, though looked at him. "Congratulations on your new baby. I bet you guys are excited." @emrexerbay
Emre's heart ached for the woman, though he knew nothing about her beside what she just shared with her. "You're welcome," he offered in return. "I - I can understand how difficult that may be." Emre started, his heart sinking into the pit of his stomach as the memories came flooding back of Azra. "I navigated raising a newborn on my own, so I can't speak to being pregnant, not ever," because it could never happen to him, "My wife and I - we're expecting again so I'm getting back into the swing of things," he spoke softly, "I can try to help, if - if you want. I don't want to overstep." @suttonmjames

"That's at least one thing that Mom and Dad taught you that you actually listened to." she winked, looking up at her brother, offering him a smile. As he approached, reaching out to hug her she followed suit, arms tightening whenever she was standing. One of the many things that Sutton was thankful for was her brother; she knew that he had always been protective, always found a reason to be there for her even when he'd lived in Chicago and she'd been married and she was thankful for it. She knew that having him in Kismet Harbor with her was a godsend; she needed as much support as she could manage. "Maybe not Superman, but stronger than me." she laughed. "I don't think they're heavy. The moving guy moved it by himself." she stated, a shrug of her shoulders. When he said he wasn't fully settled in yet she looked back at him. "Well I'll help you, just let me know when you want me to come over." she stated. "Glad at least Huck is settled, I was going to scold you if you'd told me otherwise." Her hand rested on her stomach when he asked about what she was craving. "I'm not really sure. I could eat nearly anything." she shrugged. "Pizza sounds good, but so does a good plate of veggies." @griffinxreed
Entering the home, a cabin once owned by his brother-in-law, and now owned by his sister, he stepped further inside and looked around. "Hey I'm just checking," he put up his hands, "I was always taught to make sure. Ya know knocking before entering." He flashed her a grin, but he knew she probably didn't want to hear his jokes, the sound of exhaustion in her voice. So he pivoted and went into helpful and protective brother mode, going to give her a quick hug, and then looked over at the boxes. Rubbing his hands together, he nodded, "okay. Got it, though what do you think I'm superman or something and I have super strength?" He only chuckled lightly, and nodded to himself before she asked him a few questions. "Uh," he snapped and pointed at her, "let me get back to you on that. And I mean Huck is all unpacked and settled in, his toys and bed all set up. But me?" He asked with a shrug, before shaking his head, "not yet. Not really sure what's good here. But let's order. I'll buy what you craving?" @suttonmjames

Something about the others cheerful attitude nearly took her out, but she realized quickly that it wasn’t his fault that she was in such a terrible mood. “Well at least one of us will be.” She exhaled, eyes focusing on him when she finally felt okay enough to sit up straighter. “I’m not trying to be rude. Just not feeling well.” She exhaled, lifting a fry from her basket and chewing it, eyes closed. “I will say these fries are hitting the spot.” she exhaled, looked up at the television and then returned her attention back to the other. "Does being in this town bring the cheeriness eventually or are you just one of a kind?" she offered him a small smile. Despite the fact that her hormones had her emotional and the pregnancy had her miserable, Sutton was normally a really cheery person. She just had to get out of this funk first. @knoxwallace
The unexpected confrontation with Maddox had very quickly sent Knox into a spiral, not sure what to expect of the threat or whether he should even be worried about it at all. The larger part of him was ready to pack his shit and leave town, fleeing elsewhere in the world to avoid his past, but something had tethered him there to Kismet with enough force to find himself still there. There, but ready to drink his night into a black hole where there was no chance to worry. Heading into the bar far earlier than he usually would, Knox found a seat, brow lifting towards the woman next to him. "Well, thank god I happen to be excellent company because otherwise, that'd be a shit night," he grinned, not bothered at all by the dreary attitude.

“That’s me.” She nodded, though a pang in her chest at the last name made her smile falter for a second. She hid it well, though, letting her attention return to him, a smile forming on her face again at the mention of his husband. “Sounds like you guys are quite the pair. It’s sweet that he helps out.” She nodded. Though for all she knew he was employed here. “I’m not due until next March.” She admitted, though she was sure by the way she wasn’t even showing yet that it was obvious. “I just want to get an idea of what’s around so I know what I’m looking at. I’m excited to see the place.” she exhaled. Truthfully she was dreading it, having to put her child in daycare. It had been a discussion between her and her husband anyways so it wasn't like this was sudden. Though, the idea of doing this alone wasn't exactly her favorite; but she didn't have much of a choice at this point. "How long have you owned the place?" she questioned. "It's a beautiful and welcoming place you have here." @tomasxcooper
Tomàs did love his daycare; he loved being around the kids and the families. He had seen many kids come in and grow up to become teenagers and a few into adults. He was at work today, checking people in, doing this and that, not as much of the childcare at the moment, as he did most of the day. Hearing someone come in, he got up from his desk and walked up to her with a smile. "Hello," he greeted her and looked down at the list for today. "Ah, Sutton James?" he asked as the name was written on the time slot. But seeing the handwriting, he smiled, hearing what she said. "Yes, that would be me. My husband sometimes helps out here," mostly taking calls or talking to parents and the kids. "But welcome, I would be glad to show you around," he smiled. @suttomjames

"Ooh that one looks tasty." she pointed, eyes scanning the display case at Seaside Sweets, doing her best to figure out which goodie looked suitable to take to the station. It was her first say on the job and while she didn't have to be a suck up, something about treating her new co-workers in her new town made her feel comforted; not to mention the idea of biting into a tasty cupcake was making her mouth water. "What can I get two dozen of on the spot?" she questioned. "Or at the very least what can I do to leave here with two dozen treats and that strawberry cupcake?" she asked. "I should've called ahead, I'm sorry." she exhaled. "Last minute craving."

The sound of her brother's voice made her exhale, looking up over the pile of boxes in the middle of her living room. She exhaled, a stream of air blowing her hair from her face as she stood. "You know I'm not doing that Griff." she exhaled, exhaustion in her voice. If he were listening close enough he'd catch the slightest bit of pan in it as well, but, Sutton wasn't going to dwell on that. There were entirely too many projects she needed to focus on to fall into another episode of binge watching 90210 and eating her weight in ice cream. "But I'm glad you're here. I need your help moving both the fridge and that box over there." she pointed at the giant box that was stuck in front of the doorway to the downstairs bedroom. The one she'd been meant to sleep in but had been unable to get to it. "Did you get everything unpacked? Settled?" From the looks of the cabin, you'd think she'd have just moved to Kismet along with her brother, not having been here for two weeks already. It just hurt too much to unpack all of the memories. "And did you eat lunch? I'm in that 'I can eat nearly anything for the next hour' window so we need to think fast if you're hungry." @griffinxreed
Who: @suttonmjames and Griffin
Where: Sutton's home
When: August 2, 2025
Griffin had just finished unloading the last of his boxes into the home he was renting in a neighborhood called Emerald Mist when he got tired of doing so. So he hopped into his rented car, something else he decided to rent, not sure how long he was planning on staying in town, to meet his sister at her place. Having a key, he gave a swift knock and then opened the door and called out for her, "Sutton, it's me!" He then closed the door behind him, "better not be doing anything your little brother shouldn't be walking in on."

She hadn't realized she'd been joined - nor that she was still standing in the aisle - when she heard the 'excuse me'. Turning her head, she wiped at her cheek, offering him a small smile before she shifted where she was standing. It was only once she moved and he continued talking that she realized she wasn't in his way; his statement making her exhale. "I was hoping it wasn't obvious." she explained. "I'm just-" she paused. She definitely wasn't okay. She couldn't even pretend to be at this point. "I was hoping it wasn't obvious." another pause. "I'm just navigating my first pregnancy alone." she admitted. "I just didn't realize how hard it would be." She kept it short, eyes meeting the stranger's for a moment. She didn't want to get into all the details; breaking down in a store wasn't on her to do list for the day. "Thank you for checking, that was really kind of you." @emrexerbay
Emre and Beyza had started stocking up on things, though they didn't need to. The village of people they'd have looking out for them would be more than Emre could ever ask for. When he had Seyda, it was supposed to be him and Azra. Yet, she was taken from him too soon. His parents and his brother did what they could to help, but Emre was drowning in his grief, buried in his work. Now? Life was different. His grief was still pronounced, the year anniversary of losing his brother coming up quicker than he realized, but it didn't mean he couldn't celebrate the wins in his life. Emre had filled the cart with some essentials, making his way to the diaper aisle when he spotted a woman standing there. As she wiped at her cheek, his heart sank. "Excuse me," Emre slowly approached, calling out softly and gently so not to spook her. "I don't want to presume you don't know what you're doing," now he didn't know what to say, "but I couldn't help but notice it looked like you might be crying and well," Emre paused, "I just wanted to see if you were alright." @suttonmjames

She had nearly knocked over her drink as she'd darted to the bathroom moments prior, not to mention she'd nearly ran into the man leaving the men's bathroom on her way in. It was a few minutes later before she returned to her seat at the bar, a crisp ginger ale and an order of french fries placed in front of her as she returned. She let her head rest against her arms that were lay on the bar, doing anything she could do to get her stomach to stop turning. She was thankful she'd made it this far before the sickness became an issue, because this was anything short of brutal. She had heard someone approach, but didn't open her eyes as she cleared her throat. "You can sit, but I won't be great company."

"Excuse me, sorry." Sutton spoke, shifting through the aisle at the local grocery store. She'd tried to make it in and out in record time, but, anyone that knew anything about Kismet knew that that was nearly impossible these days. She had made her way to the next aisle, bending to grab something from the bottom shelf and dumping the entire contents of her basket, one of which was a jar of pickles that rolled under someone else's cart. She sighed, standing a little straighter as she turned to look at them. "I'm sorry to bother you." she exhaled. "But can I just-" she pointed towards the ground. "That jar fell out of my basket."

Since moving to Kismet Harbor, Sutton had spent more time planning out her finances then she had doing well, anything else. Her home was still full of boxes to sort through, all things stored away from her life in Philadelphia. It felt odd. Starting over in a place that she'd once spent summers in; without the person that she was supposed to share the rest of her life with. It was surreal, and while she were still very early in her pregnancy, one of the places on her to do list to visit today was the local daycare. She'd always heard that slots filled up fast, especially for newborns, so, she was ticking something off her checklist and making her way to the daycare in town. She walked in, a weight of decision making sitting on her shoulders and she approached the front desk, a man standing there. "Hi." she smiled, her voice soft. "I'm not sure if you can help me, but, I called to make an appointment for a tour and a potential spot?" she sighed. "I think the man said he'd talk to his husband. I don't know if you know anything about that.."

The weight sitting on her chest was overwhelming, and while her body was screaming at her to walk away her feet were planted on the ground, unmoving as her eyes scanned the price tags. She wasn't supposed to be doing this alone, and while she had the support of her younger brother here in Kismet and her parents back home, the person she so desperately wanted to be doing this with couldn't be doing this with her. And that made her heart hurt more than she cared to admit in the middle of the diaper aisle at the grocery store. Her fingers gently touched each brand, trying to figure out which brand would be the best. She'd not done a ton of research; and despite being a news anchor for years that reported on the day to day on recalls, her brain was lacking the appropriate information to remember which ones. None the less realize that they'd likely been removed from shelves until they were fixed. Wiping at her cheek she exhaled, grabbing the first - and smallest pack - of newborn diapers she could find, cradling it close to her chest as she took a step back. "This will do." she admitted, though looked at the pack as if to second guess it. "I hope."
