Hey so who wants some angst fic about Teen Titans-era Tim Drake and the crushing weight of grief and fucking up real bad via accidentally actually cloning your dead best friend based on some very nice fanart by @fraudue? 'Cuz if you do I got you, friends. Like very much so do I got you.

"I didn't actually mean it." Tim walks into the basement lab after being away for a week on an incredibly miserable mission that none of the Titans meant to be on for so long and the computer announces “subject complete.” The bottom drops out of his stomach and crashes straight through the floor.

Hello, friends! What is a "Pocket" in the context of damian getting one?

It's a variation on soulmate AUs that @bucky-boychik-barnes came up with; basically you just get a little autonomous version of your soulmate called a "Pocket" that just, like, hangs out with you and is your lil' buddy!

There's a little primer for it on AO3 here for more information, and @pocket-soulmates collects and reblogs examples of the AU.

It’s 11:59 somewhere and I hope it is where you’re at because I desperately need to see more of Kon’s clone and Tim having a breakdown.

Tim doesn't know how bad a sign that is, but he knows he has to call somebody. Knows he has to . . . has to . . . 

His hand is bleeding. 

He must’ve cut it on the glass at some point, he thinks vaguely, and watches the blood drip into his empty lap.

Sliding in at 11:57 to ask for more of Tim facing the consequences of cloning Kon

Tim sees a crimson spark of heat vision in the back of Thirteen’s eyes, and then the other vanishes in a blur of super-speed. He hears the glass case shatter and the door slam open at the top of the basement stairs far above, the sound of it more than loud enough to carry back down. Which–makes sense. Thirteen is . . . older than Kon was born, physiologically. And Tim . . . he fed solar energy into the cloning tube. Lit it up with it. So Thirteen's powers should be . . . 

Thirteen only took the jeans out of the case, Tim observes, distant and clinical. 

He didn’t touch the S-shield T-shirt.

Thirteen’s face twists, and it occurs to Tim too late that he told him everything Kon should know. And Thirteen just said it himself. Thirteen knows his name. Thirteen . . . 

Thirteen knows him. 

So he might know what he’s thinking right now.

Honestly hadn’t even considered Tim going down a dark road and killing 13 and suddenly I am foaming at the mouth over what his contingency plan entails

He didn’t think about that, when he started all this. He didn’t think–he didn’t think he’d need a contingency plan. He didn’t think he wasn’t making . . . 

He needs a contingency plan.

Because this isn’t Kon. This is a stranger.

The alchemists disappointment how r we not all begging for more of this I need to know I’m crying

To be fair its beginning is a bit obtuse and confusing to get in three-sentence increments, so I can see why people didn't engage with it as much? Buuuuut since you ASK, friend . . . 👀

The hand grips the disappointment’s jaw; tilts it up a little. It sees the dark-cloaked figure’s face, but doesn’t let its eyes focus; doesn’t presume to actually look. 

The figure is a stranger; a tall, broad man in a dark mask, his eyes concealed by strange white lenses that shine even in the unlit laboratory. 

“Bruce?” the other voice asks. “What are you–hell! Who’s–?!” 

“It might be more a ‘what’s’,” the dark-cloaked man says, letting go of the disappointment’s jaw. It keeps its face where it’s been put. 

That’s the only reason it sees the shining man float down to the dark-cloaked one’s side. 

The shining man is larger than the dark-cloaked one and bright as the sun even in the barely-there light from the stairs, tall and handsome and strong, and in what little light there is the disappointment can see he has smooth and perfect skin and sleek, curly dark hair, and also very bright eyes and an engraved breastplate almost as bright, and he’s wearing a long red cloak of his own.

The only armor he’s wearing is the shining, engraved breastplate. 

Is that . . . normal? That seems . . . 

The shining man leans in a little, staring at the disappointment’s face. It doesn’t know what its face looks like, but it knows its master hates it, and its gut roils uncomfortably. This man . . . 

“Is he . . . ?” the shining man says. 

“Breathing,” the dark-cloaked man says, something glowing momentarily in his hand. “Heartbeat’s . . . well. It’s not a beat. It’s a thrum. Body’s functional, but . . .” 

“But?” The shining man glances towards him. The disappointment doesn’t know what they’re talking about. There’s no one down here. It definitely isn’t a person, so who’s the “he” they’re talking about? 

. . . it’s not supposed to think, it reminds itself, and just stays–empty. Impassive. Still. 

Its master will be angry, if it doesn’t. And when its master gets angry . . . 

It stays empty. 

“It has your blood inside it,” the dark-cloaked man says. 

The shining man looks repulsed, and recoils. 

The disappointment didn't look at him. Didn't even let the eyes that its master hates focus on him or any expression cross its face. 

But it's still a disappointment, so of course the shining man was still repulsed.

He looks like the sun. Shining. Strong. Regal. The disappointment . . . 

Well, the disappointment doesn't know what it looks like. Its master never showed it. 

But it knows it doesn't look anything like this man.

Not to be the “buying knives for people” anon, but Billy having no money and no fixed address is the only thing keeping him from having to figure out how to search web stores for Pocket knives instead of pocket knives for Pocket!Damian. Fighting for his goddamn life.

Fortunately for Billy, Pocket!Damian definitely showed up pre-equipped. There is just no possible way that he did not. 😆

The Poly Core Four pocket names... Are they references? They're so cute...

"Ringer" is a reference to the kryptonite ring that happened the first time Tim and Kon met, and also a pun on the fact he's a "dead ringer" for Superman. "Favor" is for Cassie getting her powers via godly favor, and "Warning" is because there's a version of events where Bart got the name "Impulse" from Batman as, explicitly, a "warning". I assumed they all got named before Tim knew any of the others very well, so he went with fairly straightforward options.

I miiiiight change Favor and Warning in editing if I think of something better, but Ringer I really like, so that one's probably sticking.
