JINAE: that’s okay … maybe that’s something we should do soon. or, better yet, we can each bring some of our favorite ones and have a marathon of decent horror flicks ? that sounds like more fun JINAE: yes !!! honestly, i think those are some of the worst movies, but in the best ways. that one gave me nightmares, tho. which is, oddly, exactly what i look for. i mean, what’s the point otherwise, amirite ?? JINAE: stooooooooooooooop. i would be a horrible movie director. BUT if i ever /did/ make a movie, i’d probably end up doing something like the blair witch project bc i think the paranormal / occult stuff is much scarier, especially when done right. JINAE: not that i was the biggest fan of that movie or the paranormal activity ones either, but still the way i would go. JINAE: maybe i could even recruit you to help with casting and critiquing ?? you seem to be the person i can trust most the help ensure i make the biggest hit.

SANGWOO: that sounds like such a good idea !! i've always wanted to have a marathon of horror movies because it sounds like it’d be so fun SANGWOO: honestly that’s so true. i always get so paranoid after watching really good ones like i have to check if theres a monster or something in my bathroom before i go in but that’s how i know it was a good one SANGWOO: you’re right tbh. and also horror movies where it’s told through found footage are usually the most terrifying SANGWOO: i’ve never seen the paranormal activity ones were those actually good? SANGWOO: not to toot my own horn but i think i might be good at that job too. i always like when movies have characters with like an archetype but maybe there could be a twist to it

     “it hasn’t been that… long.” his eyes narrowed playfully, gaze locking onto the wall as he thought. had it really been long? he doubted it had been months, but most likely a pretty long time. “i’m absolutely whipped, aren’t i?” daeseong broke into a laugh, his hands moving to rub at his face. he just always enjoyed sangwoo’s company, they were good friends and someone dae knew he could trust and absolutely lean on whenever he needed to. of course he was one of his first thoughts on who to call when he knew he needed a little time for him and his boys. “you know i don’t drink all the time though. if i say that.. just give me a glass of water, yeah?” he grinned, reaching forward for the controller he had moments before. it was definitely something to keep in mind; daeseong never liked the thought of bothering somebody, but if they were offering? he’d surely take him up on that. “if you put your mind to it? i bet you could. you just need to settle down with someone i think. get yourself tied down.” he winked. “it’ll keep you out of trouble.”

      “ yeah ,  you  kind  of  are .  but  that’s  a  good  thing ,  right ? ”  a  chuckle  left  his  lips  as  he  spoke ,  amused  at  how  into  jinae  the  other  was .  it  was  nice  to  see ,  though ,  especially  since  he  was  friends  with  both  and  could  tell  they  really  made  each  other  happy .  “ i  don’t  know  if  i  can  promise  you  that  i’ll  only  give  you  a  glass  of  water ,  but  i’ll  try , ”  sangwoo  joked  playfully ,  doing  the  same  as  dae  and  reaching  to  grab  the  second   controller .  he  figured  that  if  he  was  there  to  spend  time  with  the  other ,  he  might  as  well  enjoy  himself  and  play  a  couple  of  games  with  him .  “ yeah ,  i  agree .  that’s  actually  why  i’m  trying  to  stay  out  of  trouble ,  because  of  a  certain  someone . ”  his  mind  flickered  to  rory  and  he  wondered  if  he  should  even  bring  her  up .  he  knew  that  the  two  were  close  and  that  was  exactly  why  he  was  so  hesitant  to  say  anything  ,  but  he  also  felt  like  he  really  needed  to  talk  to  someone  about  her .  “ let’s  say  that  this  person  i  was  trying  to  fix  myself  up  for  was  someone  like  rory ,  what  would  you  think  about  that ? ”

         ` + * ⋅﹒、there  was  not  a  bar  bogum  visited  like  he  visited  sangwoo ’ s.   this was for obvious reasons . namely that sangwoo and him were good friends . bogum also quite enjoyed going out for a drink or two a few nights a week . it was one of the only times he could tell his mom where he was going and mean it . sangwoo probably usually expected him anyway with how frequently he showed himself there anyway . times were tough and a drink always seemed to ease bogum ’ s mind , even if only for a little while . perhaps that is why an unusual calming feeling washes over him as he walks into the bar . without a word from his lips , he places himself exactly one seat away from the edge of the bar to keep to himself . his eyes are now searching for sangwoo . could he have had the night off ?

       it  was  a  slightly  busier  day  for  sangwoo  at  the  bar .  not  to  mention ,  he  had  a  customer  that  was  very  picky  and  asked  for  drinks  that  seemed  like  they  were  from  another  century .  which  only  added  to  the  already  busy  day  that  he  was  having .  as  soon  as  the  customer  left ,  he  decided  to  take  a  break  and  go  to  the  backroom  for  some  time  to  himself .  there  wasn’t  anyone  else  working  that  night ,  but  he  figured  anyone  that  wanted  a  drink  could  wait  .  once  he  felt  ready  to  get  back  to  working ,  sangwoo  went  out  to  his  usual  placement  behind  the  bar .  it  took  him  a  moment  to  realize  that  bogum  had  been  there  waiting  for  him  at  the  edge  of  the  bar .  “ bogum !  i  didn’t  know  you  were  here ,  i  would’ve  gotten  here  sooner , ”  he  greeted ,  a  smile  on  his  face .  “ what  will  you  be  having  tonight ?  please  say  something  simple  because  i’ll  lose  it  if  i  have  to  serve  another  complicated  drink . ”

JINAE: it saddens me, tho, bc it diminishes the fright factor — which is supposed to be the whole point of /scary/ movies, so i don’t get why they do it … JINAE: actually, i do, and i know i don’t have much right to complain considering i don’t think i could do a better job since i lack the know-how regarding the making of a decent film, but i still stand by what i said 😤😤

     “dude, i so appreciate you coming over.” daeseong mumbled as he closed his apartment door behind sangwoo, pointing down to the slippers that were resting just beside his door. “– the pink ones would definitely suit you.” he added quickly, his smirk growing as he moved through his apartment and immediately threw himself down on the couch just where he had been resting moments before, playstation controller tossed to the side, pizza on the table and cans of juice to wash it all down. “i love jinae with my heart and everything, but i just need a lil bro time.” trust him to get all bro-ish and american on his friend. “don’t tell her that either.. tell her the love part, not the bro part.” he’s rambling. he knows that. he just can’t help himself when he’s comfortable and around someone he actually likes. sangwoo is definitely high on his list in terms of friends. “how’re things with you though? staying out of trouble i hope?” dae questions, reaching forward to hand a tin of juice towards the other man.   @svngwoo

         “ it’s  about  time  you’ve  invited  me  over !  it’s  been  like  five  months  since  we’ve  hung  out , ” he  mused  as  a  greeting  as  soon  as  he  walked  in ,  his  overly dramatic  nature  making  it’s  appearance .  a  quick  glance  to  the  slippers  that  daeseong  had  pointed  to  made  sangwoo  snort  in  amusment  and  shake  his  head .  “ i  don’t  wear  anything  that’s  not  black ,  so  i’ll  leave  them  for  you  to  enjoy . ”  he  didn’t  waste  time  in  plopping  down  beside  dae  on  the  couch  and  realizing  into  it .  dae  was  truly  a  very  relaxing  presence  to  be  around .  “ i’m  always  up  for  a  little  bro  time .  you  just  need  to  come  around  to  the  bar  and  say  something  like ‘i  need  bro  time’  and  i’ll  immediately  give  you  a  free  drink  just  for  saying  that . ”  a  laugh  left  his  lips  as  he  spoke ,  but  he  was  being  completely  serious .  he’d  definitely  enjoy  spending  more  time  with  his  friend .  “ i’ve  been  trying  my  best  to  stay  out  of  trouble .  i  think  i’m  ready  to  live  a  trouble-free  life . ”  at  his  own  words ,  sangwoo  couldn’t  help  but  burst  out  in  laughter . but  really , think  i  could  pull  that  off ? ”

sangwoo’s parents never really got along and had very different views on almost everything. they ended up divorcing when he was seven years old and he chose to stay with his father instead of his mother because he was much closer to him.

they were much happier without his mother in the picture since she had a tendency to make them both unhappy and so they had a lot of happy times together for a few years.

when sangwoo was thirteen, his father suffered a heart attack attack  and that was something he didn’t take very well since he was so close to him and felt like that was the only person he had in his life.

the way sangwoo let out all his grief over it was by acting out in school and really not caring about anything. what made it even worse was that he was forced to live with his mother and her new wealthy husband who really hated the fact that sangwoo had to live with them.

the man hated sangwoo and found every opportunity to get him on his mother’s bad side.

eventually, he convinced his mother to kick sangwoo out, telling her how much trouble he was at school and at home and how she was better off without him

that’s how sangwoo ended up living on the streets at age fifteen.

it was tough living with no money or a home. the people he could beg for money would turn the other way.

being young, desperate, and foolish, his only option was to resort to a gang he had heard of and join them in the dangerous life of crime.

all of it was very hard to handle. the crime, violence, danger was something he had never experienced before. thus, he turned to anything that could numb reality and that included drugs, partying, intimacy, etc.

his use of drugs developed into an addiction. he could barely go any amount of time without using them.

after three years in the gang, he decided he wanted a change and deserted the gang in the middle of the night.

it was a very dangerous move and so he had to move to daegu to get away from their threats.

his life now is slightly more stable and his addiction is something he still deals with.

         ‘ oh yeah, why don’t i just tell the most important person in my life and the one who has always felt like my soulmate completely that i’m madly in love with him and that i haven’t even wanted to look at anyone else the entire time since i’ve known him or had any kind of romantic relationship because he’s all i want and need or care about. because that wouldn’t make me look like a complete fool at all. especially knowing that you were totally fine on all those fronts this entire time, you could still be with other people, even with me right here. sangwoo, i look pathetic right now ’ aza unloads, tears falling more steadily now as she swallows thickly, head downcast as she chokes back the more powerful crying and intense breakdown her body wants to allow herself to unleash. ‘ just because i’m special to you, doesn’t mean i’m the one for you though, there are all kinds of love out there, how was i supposed to just assume that the one you held for me was equally romantic ? and if you loved me… don’t you think you would be sure, so sure in what you knew that you wouldn’t need or want anyone else ? i just don’t understand how you can love me and yet be with other people romantically at the same time. ’ the female mused, words harder to get out through her weaker voice due to the tears streaming, it was the kind of crying where she felt as though her whole body was partaking, like a waterfall had built up inside of her all this time and now the dam had burst. ‘ you never say where your head is at. not when it comes to me at least, now we’re stuck here and i can’t help but feel second best. i deserve better than that, you’re right. but i never once thought you wouldn’t be enough for me. i’m confused and hurt sangwoo, i want to understand but i just don’t. this is a lot for me to process as well ’ the girl rubbed at her eyes, swiping away the relentless tears as her eyes sharpened more at his next words, slight scoff of shock escaping her. ‘ i can’t believe you’re making this about that. i have never, ever been with daeseong in that way and i’ve always told you i don’t feel those things for him. you’re jealous over nothing, it is not the same. ’ the female paused and took a heavy breath, flipping her own hair away from her face as she finally met his gaze. ‘ look at me. please, look at me okay ? ’ she whispered, voice stricken with grief as she took the others face in her hands and stepped into his space, gazing into his eyes as though she were searching for something, allowing herself a moment to soak in before she looked down and braced herself to speak again. ‘ i love you. i love you so much, but we need time apart. we need to be away from each other, i know my head is spinning right now, and yours must be too. we both need to figure this all out, on our own terms, separately ’ 

         “ you  ...  you  love  me ?  this  whole  time  that’s  how  you  felt ?  how  was  i  supposed  to  know  you  felt  that  way ?  i  didn’t  think  someone  like  you  would  love  me  in  that  way .  you’ve  seen  me  at  my  worst ,  how  could  you  still  have  wanted  me  after  all  of  that ? ”  it  was  more  of  a  question  out  loud  to  himself  rather  than  directly  to  her .  aza  had  always  seemed  so  loving  and  gentle  towards  him  and  so  he  would  never  have  thought  that  she  saw  him  as  anything  more  than  a  close  friend  she  had  stuck  with  through  all  the  hard  time .  or  maybe  he  hadn’t  allowed  himself  to  think  of  that  because  he  felt  like  he  was  a  lost  cause  and  being  around  aza  made  him  think  of  happy  endings  that  he  didn’t  deserve .  watching  the  very  obvious  tears  falling  from  her  eyes ,  sangwoo  wanted  so  badly  to  be  able  to  reach  out  and  comfort  her ,  but  he  knew  that  at  that  moment  he  couldn’t .  he  didn’t  know  where  he  stood  with  her  or  how  their  relationship  would  end  up  after  everything .  “ it’s  not  that  easy  for  me ,  aza .  i’ve  never  been  with  someone  that  i’ve  truly  had  feelings  for .  being  with  you  would  be  on  another  level  than  what  i’ve  had  with  anyone  else  because  there  would  be  feelings  and  so  much  more .  and  that’s  always  scared  me , ”  he  explained  in  some  attempt  to  try  to  get  her  to  understand  that  the  reason  for  him  never  pursuing  anything  for  her  past  friendship  was  his  own  fault  and  not  hers .  “ i  know  i  don’t  tell  you  what’s  going  on  in  my  head ,  but  i  just  don’t  know  how .  it’s  just  so  hard  for  me  to  talk  about  what  i’m  feeling .  i  hate  that  i  hurt  you  by  doing  that  and  i  hope  you  know  that  it  hurts  me  to  know  that  i  did . ”  letting  out  a  deep  breath ,  he  desperately  ran  his  fingers  through  his  long  hair  in  desperation .  “ you  still  told  him  where  you  were  going  while  i  was  left  in  the  dark  about  it .  i  can’t  help  but  feel  jealous  about  it  even  if  there’s  nothing  going  on . ”  despite  his  words ,  he  knew  he  was  just  coming  up  with  things  to  deflect  from  what  they  were  actually  talking  about  and  that  he  really  shouldn’t  be  projecting  his  jealous  like  that  at  that  moment .  feeling  her  hands  gripping  his  face ,  sangwoo  looked  back  into  her  eyes  and  felt  his  heart  tug  at  the  sadness  he  saw  in  them .  “ i ...  yeah ,  i  think  you’re  right .  i  think  that’s  best  for  us  right  now , ”  he  agreed ,  his  voice  faltering  sadly  for  a  moment .  he  then  grabbed  her  hand  in  his ,  giving  it  a  small  squeeze .  “ no  matter  what  ends  up  happening ,  remember  that  i  care  about  you  and  there’s  no  one  that  could  take  your  place , ”  he  spoke  softly ,  letting  her  hand  go  in  the  same   way  he  had  to  let  go  for  now .
