Pleasant and unpleasant experiences will necessarily take place whenever there is a contact between the senses and the objects. This is the law of nature. Hence, do you have to specially try for sukha? Will not interactions automatically produce sukha and duḥkha? This being the case, can you avoid duḥkha?
Then, what should you do? Nothing! You do not have to court sukha or eschew duḥkha. Simply forbear them, understanding that interactions will produce them and they both will come and go. They are transitory - āgamāpāyinaḥ. Remain stable and firm in your own within.

Spiritual wisdom has the sole aim of focusing the seeker’s attention on the spiritual Presence within, in place of the gross, physical world around. The distinction between the seeing Subject and the seen object is that the Subject is subtle, spiritual and inner, whereas the object is gross, physical and outer. How to dissuade the mind from the objects around and to bring it to the Subject within – the very source of all objects, nay the entire world? Philosophical thoughts and reasoning have the intrinsic power to reveal how the Subject, the Spirit, is not only superior to the gross, physical world around, but also sovereign in every way.

Self-realization is realization of the very Self. The Self is not a second or another product; it is yourself. You remain yourself throughout, whether you sleep, dream or wake up. Whether you are miserable or peaceful, joyous or dejected, you remain yourself. It is realization of this Self, which constantly is there, that you should aim at. It is not that the seeker produces a Self and then realizes it.
Your body produces heat. Just as you say, “I feel heat; I am hot”, you must be able to say, “I feel the Self, I am the Self”. The power or presence within you that causes radiation of heat from your body and also that from which spring forth knowledge and doubt, thoughts and emotions – that power or that presence is the Consciousness, the Self. It is to be felt.

The word vāsanā generally means latent desire. Desire in any form. Expectations, ego, possessiveness — all these are forms of desire. Even the desire for mokṣa is a desire! Any expectation, any desire, any kind of an ego, any note of possessiveness — all are results of vāsanā. When the mind is freed of vāsanās, that mind becomes absolutely free.
A vāsanā-free mind, is a free mind. It is a pure mind. So the purity we are talking about is not a one-faceted development. Purity means, the mind becomes vāsanā-mukta, expectation-mukta, ego-mukta, possessiveness-mukta and also mukta from any other traits. The purity of the mind itself is Self-realization! Purity represents, manifests and reveals Self-realization.

Acceptance of the world is acceptance of plurality. Acceptance of plurality means being influenced by it. And to be influenced by dvandvas (pairs of opposites) means to be afflicted by desires, ego and possessiveness. These notes alone and nothing but these very notes of your own mind are the source of your afflictions. Their disappearance contributes to spirituality. When these notes begin to fall one by one, the worldliness dissolves and godliness shines forth.

By chanting the holy name, everything around becomes divine. Nothing seems non-divine any more. The mind, which was scorched by worldliness, becomes calm and cool by the singing of His name. As the cooling radiation from the moon makes the pure white lotus blossom and reflect the cooling rays all around, singing Lord’s name makes the inner lotus bloom and radiate purity and auspiciousness all around.

When the Lord’s name is repeated with a lot of fondness and love, to the exclusion of all other worldly allurements and enjoyments, one is able to feel the presence of the Universal Lord in one’s own heart. As one sings, the mind and heart become full, eyes get filled with tears of joy and the voice gets choked with loving emotions. One feels completely secure and fearless, as if one is on the mother’s lap. Nāma-saṅkīrtana (chanting the holy name) of the Supreme Lord cleanses the mirror of the mind. In a clean and polished mirror alone, we can see our face clearly. In a similar manner, for God to be revealed in one’s own within, the mind must be free of all impurities. When we chant God’s name fondly, relying on Him completely, His presence is felt within the heart. With the Lord’s presence in the heart, all evil thoughts die down. The more we chant His name, deeper becomes the love for Him. As love for God deepens, attraction for worldliness recedes naturally. While carrying on with the worldly activities, fulfilling one’s duties and responsibilities, with every coveted possession that man acquires, he also gathers the burden of discontent and non-fulfillment. The mind becomes scorched with affliction, tormented by lack of hope and confidence.
Every human being seeks unbroken peace and bliss. In order to have everlasting peace and happiness, one must withdraw the mind from the distracting worldly objects and focus it at the holy lotus feet of the Supreme Universal Lord. That is why when we go to temples, or we worship the Lord in our own pooja-room chanting and singing His name, we feel relaxed and relieved, as if all burden has been removed. As much we sing His holy name, so much our love for Him increases. Proportionately, the mind also withdraws from worldliness.

Spiritual pursuit is a call to every human mind, whichever or wherever it is. So, heed it. Arjuna heeded it at the intensity of the plight. You need not wait for a Kurukshetra battlefield or a similar calamity. Rather, you should not wait for such a plight or a confrontation. Be wise and be prepared in advance.
My dear souls, right now you can imbibe the spirit and the knowledge. And the sublimity and enrichment can be your possession from this moment onwards. Don’t deny your mind and intelligence their rightful growth and evolution.

You know that perception always proceeds from the perceiver. Whatever may be the object-dimension of the universe, when an individual begins to see it, it simply becomes the perception of the individual. And in that perception you can bring about such a great revolution that ‘everything and all’ will become equal to or alike the Self.
Whether you experience something inside or outside, it should constitute the worship of the all-enfolding Presence. Perceptions, when instrumented by senses, indicate external objects. When effected by mind and intelligence, they are referred to as internal objects. The two do not make any difference, when it comes to the question of worshipping the Supreme all-enfolding Presence.

A devotee wants to think of God unbrokenly; wants to remember God with all fondness without fail, but he is not able to. His thoughts and worries regarding his house, family, property, profession as well as his own body engage and overpower his mind so much that he forgets God most of the time.
However, when devotion for the Lord in the devotee’s mind becomes intense and deep, when his yearning for the Lord’s association ripens and maturates, he no more waits for specific moments of worship. He is not satisfied by such occasional time-bound worship. Naturally and spontaneously his whole life turns into a worship. He sees divinity in everything around. He worships Lord not through particular devotional actions, but through all actions that he performs.""
