Oh wow, this is gorgeous! I'm so glad you like that fic so much. It was a sweet one to write :)
Day 13. Favourite fanfic.
I used to read a lot of portal fanfiction in my native language. But the Unknown Number by @sweet-christabel takes the cake even among them. Love that work. So so glad it exists.
I recognised him right away, and I may have let out a little “yay”!
JUSTICE FOR AHMED BEST!! JEDI MASTER KELLERAN BEQ!! SHUT UP I’M NOT CRYING ABOUT AHMED BEST GETTING TO BE IN STAR WARS’ LARGEST SERIES AND GETTING TO BE BADASS, YOU’RE CRYING ABOUT JUSTICE FOR AHMED BEST!!
fic writers who make Mace Windu the bad guy in their stories for no reason could at least have the decency to make it funny, like turning him into Sister Michael from Derry girls:
Mace Windu: “I know how daunting Council reports can be, so if anyone is feeling anxious or worried or even if you just want to chat, please, please, do not come crying to me.”
or
Plo Koon: “If that isn’t clear, feel free to say so.”
Mace Windu: “But know that you will be judged.”
top 3 films: I’ve somehow managed to barely watch any new films last year! But I did watch Matilda, (highly recommend), the latest Downton Abbey movie, (recommend less: it’s full of things that almost happen but don’t, and it stole plot from Singin’ in the Rain!), and Spencer (recommend if you like psychological movies or have a crush on Kristen Stewart)
top 3 shows: Stranger Things, Kenobi and Andor
top 3 books: Unnaturally Green by Felicia Ricci, I just started Caraval by Stephanie Garber, and I finally finished The Lady in the Tower by Alison Weir that I started an embarrassingly long time ago!
top 3 biggest improvements: Confidence at work, being less anxious in crowded public spaces (for the most part), and getting out and doing stuff again
top 3 resolutions: Not sure how I’m going to achieve this yet, but hopefully being in better health, since 2022 was not great (thanks, Covid), continue learning to sew and hopefully progress beyond skirts, and do more art
favorite song: It varies, but right now I’m really into Get Down from Six the musical, but specifically Brittney Mack’s version. She’s absolutely hilarious, and kills it with her vocals
favorite quote: Bravery is to possess fear but carry on regardless
Thanks for coming up with the bonus challenges, they were fun! Looking forward to seeing what other costumes you post.
Happy new year!
Plans for the next few months
I have had a great time doing these challenges over the last year and a half! Thank you so much, @mygreatadventurehasbegun and @sweet-christabel, for participating in the bonus challenges. Getting to see what you folks came up with made the challenges even more fun.
For the next few months, I plan to revisit the color challenges that I didn't cover in full the first time. That means the color for January will be red.
Anything Goes December
Emerald City - East (Florence Kasumba)
I haven’t seen this show, but stumbling across this costume has sparked my curiosity. It looks so cool in motion! The feathers around the collar look great and create a dramatic silhouette. I’m not sure if those are gloves or jewellery, but they look amazing.
Anything Goes December
Bridgerton - Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley)
Kate’s riding habit is probably one of the more subtle costumes in Bridgerton! I just think it looks really chic, and the hat is great. I love how coordinated the colours of the dress, spencer, hat and gloves are. The spencer has some nice details on the lapels and at the back, where there’s also a pretty bit of pleating on the peplum.
I couldn’t do a month of anything goes and not include OG Lara! I’ve loved this outfit ever since I was a kid. It varied in small ways over the years as the animation changed slightly, but it always remained similar enough to become iconic. The vest, shorts and boots look so cool, and they seem fitting for an adventurer. I was always so happy that she had practical footwear and that her hair was tied back. She was sometimes sexualised in her promotional material, but like I said with Angelina’s version, she’s still respectably covered in the games and the box art. And no, I don’t consider her to be sexualised just because she has big boobs. Some people have big boobs. Get over it!
