Sweet Tooth
Now to anyone else this wouldn't be a big deal but to those that knew her, they knew she wasn't one to get very confused. After all, they don't call her the brightest witch of her age for nothing. She was always trying to find a logical explanation for everything she encountered and dealt with it accordingly.
But this had her stumped.
Every week her parents would send many sweets to her to share with her friends. While they were dentists and protested excessive amounts of candy, they trusted she was responsible enough not to use them in excessive amounts. They also knew that Hermione's friends enjoyed sweets very much so they felt no guilt in sending so much. It was a sweet gesture that Hermione looked forwards to every week but this week, however, she had put the sweets in a bowl in the Heads Common Room so that others were free to have some and the next morning they were gone.
She hadn't even had any of her friends in the Common Room since putting this week's batch there. So where could it have gone?
Hermione was contemplating this staring at the empty bowl when the Head Boy came out from his room. His blond hair still wet from just taking a shower as he cheerfully bounded down the steps.
"Good morning Hermione," Draco Malfoy said.
"Good morning, Draco," she said, "you wouldn't happen to know what happened to the sweets my parents sent me, would you?"
He paused mid-stride, looked at the empty bowl and pretended to think hard. "Nope, not a clue," Draco said shrugging before continuing in the room with a spring in his step.
It was a shock to Hermione when she found out that she would have to share the Head Dorms with Draco. It really did make sense why he was chosen as Head Boy, so she shouldn't have been surprised. He was second only to her in their year and earned the position just as much as she did. Hermione was so worried about it that she almost went to McGonagall on the verge of asking to be demoted to Prefect. The more she thought about it though, the she decided that she'd worked too long and hard to get to be the Head Girl so she wasn't going to give it up so easily. So, they put up with each other as neither was willing to back down and they eventually became somewhat friends.
"Well you seem to be in an awfully good mood today," Hermione commented
"You're right, as usual. I am in a fantastic mood today," Draco said plopping down on one of the couches by the fireplace.
"May I ask why?" Hermione said amused. While she did find him a lot more pleasant to be around, it was still rare to catch him in a particularly good mood.
"Because, dearest Hermione, today is the day that I am going to ask out that girl I told you about to Hogsmeade this weekend," he said grinning.
"Oh, that's wonderful!" Hermione said with as much enthusiasm as she could muster.
As they were getting closer and trusting each other more, Draco confided -or more like Hermione caught on and he confessed- that he had a secret crush on some mystery girl. He went on about how beautiful and smart and wonderful she was, though Draco refused to reveal her identity. At first Hermione was excited that he was trusting her enough to tell her something so personal, but couldn't help feeling a pang in her chest. She hadn't the slightest idea why until a few weeks ago while talking to her good friend Ginny Weasley.
Hermione has her own crush on the blond boy.
Still, she wouldn't allow it to show, he obviously didn't feel the same as he was so occupied by this other woman. And why should I even hope for anything else? Just because we're friends now doesn't change that he's Draco Malfoy and she's Hermione Granger, they'd never work..
..could they?
"Hey? Hermione?" Draco said bringing her out of her thoughts.
"Hm? Oh sorry, what were you saying?" Hermione said embarrassed.
"I was asking if you were alright, you kinda zoned out there," he said with a charming smile that made her melt.
"Yeah I'm alright, just lost in thought I guess," she explained.
"Ok," Draco said before launching into all his different ideas of where to take this mystery girl. Hermione listened while secretly picturing him and herself going to do these activities, even if she knew they were never going to happen. "I don't know, Hermione..maybe I'm getting my hopes too high," he said sadly.
This snapped her back to reality. Draco Malfoy, aka sexiest boy at Hogwarts, worried about some girl rejecting him? She didn't know whether to be proud he wasn't being too egotistical or worried he's gone mad.
"You're not ill, are you?" Hermione teased.
"I mean it, Hermione. What if she says no?" He worried.
"Where's that Malfoy confidence of yours? Of course she'll say yes," she told him encouragingly.
"I don't know...after all I've done? Me and her haven't had the best track record, I wouldn't blame her," Draco said looking at the fire.
"Draco Malfoy, do you care for this girl?" Hermione asked.
"I think I made that pretty clear," he said rolling his eyes.
"Yes or no," she said bossily.
"Yes," Draco laughed.
"Do you think you could fall for her?" She asked.
Draco looked at her for a moment and thought about what she was asking. "Yes," he said honestly.
"Then that's all that matters. If she rejects you then that just means she isn't the one who's meant for you, you have proven that you've changed time and time again this year so if she can't see that then thats her loss," Hermione said firmly, "besides, would you rather go on without knowing how she'd answer? Without being able to say you tried?"
"You're right, as always. I'm being silly aren't I?" Draco said cracking a smile.
"Yes, yes you are," she told him to which they both laughed.
There was a part of Hermione that selfishly wished this mystery girl would reject to his offer but another that wished she would agree, just so Hermione can see him happy. Only time could tell.
"So when are you going to tell me who this girl is?" Hermione asked him.
"After I ask her," he promised with a twinkle in his eye.
"And when when will you be asking her?" Hermione asked.
"Not telling," Draco said.
****
It was dinnertime in the Great Hall. Hermione was sitting at the Gryffindor table with Harry Potter along with Ron and Ginny Weasley while Draco was sitting at the Slytherin table with Blaise Zabini, Theodore Nott, and Daphne Greengrass. He's been fiddling with his hands nervously the entire time, too anxious to eat anything.
"C'mon mate, why are you so worried? Who in Merlin's name would reject you?" Theo said.
"Any girl that's got a brain," Blaise teased to which Daphne elbowed him, "ouch!..bloody woman...I mean, yeah what he said."
"Really Draco, could you at least tell us who she is? It might be easier for us to help if we knew," Daphne urged.
"No, you'll find out soon enough. I don't need help I..just need a minute," Draco assured his closest friends.
"Dinner will be over soon, you'd better make it fast. Especially if you want to get something to eat," Blaise said.
"Yeah, ok. Here I go," Draco said more to himself than anyone else before standing up and striding across the Great Hall.
Right to the Gryffindor table.
He shook his head as if to rid himself of his nerves and show his famous Malfoy confidence as he got closer. As he approached, Draco could feel all the eyes on him but he paid them no mind.
Not until her eyes were on him.
Draco sat down next to her as if he did it everyday, and he had done this on occasion throughout the current year.
"Hey Hermione, you remember that girl I was telling you about?" Draco asked, knowing everyone within earshot would be listening.
"Yes..oh! Did you ask her? What did she say?" Hermione asked intrigued.
"No actually, I haven't asked her yet," Draco told her, "I'm kinda getting to that."
"You'd better hurry if you want to do it today," Hermione said.
"Yeah, I should," Draco agreed. Hermione went back to her food, expecting him to go off and ask the girl, not wanting to see what would happen.
"Hermione," Draco said trying to regain her attention.
"Yeah?" She said not looking up.
He gently put his hand on her chin and tilted her head to look at him. "Would you like to go with me to Hogsmeade this weekend?" He asked.
"But I thought you were going with that mystery girl?" She said not piecing it together.
Draco sighed dramatically, "for the brightest witch of our age, you really can be . You're the mystery girl. I'm asking you on a date to Hogsmeade."
Her mouth dropped, along with almost everyone else's. Everyone else was still getting used to the idea of Hermione and Draco being friends and now he was asking her on a date?
"Oh! Yes, yes of course!" Hermione said excitedly before crushing him in a hug.
Draco laughed, "and by the way, it was me who ate the candy from your parents," he admitted in a whisper.
"It was you?" She exclaimed but somehow managed to keep the same volume.
"Yes, but don't worry I'll make it up to you," he promised.
And Draco did just that. The first activity the two did together in Hogsmeade was go straight to Honeydukes and let Hermione pick out all the sweets she desired. Draco, of course, picked out many as well for himself and paid for all of it.
"Draco Malfoy, how many sweets did you buy? The whole shop?" Hermione said surprised.
"What can I say? I guess you could say I've got a sweet tooth," Draco told her.
"That's an understatement," Hermione laughed.
They spend the rest of the day doing various things around the small town. Draco took her to a bookshop, the Three Broomsticks and anywhere else she wanted. Back in their Common Room they ate and exchanged their sweets while talking about their day.
All was well.

Happier
Draco Malfoy was in the Hogwarts library under the appearance of doing Transfiguration homework, but he was really there to clear his head.
The past month has been beyond amazing for him, he's finally been given a chance to start over with Hermione Granger. They've become very close friends and every moment with her makes his love for her stronger. But, he knows the same month hasn't been the same for her.
Ron Weasley refused to accept their newfound friendship and has decided that he's going to make her choose between the two of them. It was a major shock for Draco when Hermione chose him instead of Ron. But the red haired boy has done anything to make her miserable.
He's turned almost all of the Gryffindors against her so now not only does Weaselbee always make fun of her and insult her, so does the majority of the Gryffindors. Though Harry and Ginny support Hermione, it isn't enough to make them stop.
It doesn't help that Draco and Hermione have been getting into quite a lot of arguments recently.
Oh how Draco missed seeing her genuinely smile.
The fights are usually over stupid things but the last one was pretty nasty. She was particularly frustrated by Ron's antics today and Draco had spent the day dealing with furious Slytherin's. Draco made a snarky comment and she blew up, which inevitably made him blow up as well. It wasn't even what they fought about that bothered him, it was how personal they chose to make it.
She said he never changed deep down.
He said she lost everyone because of her decisions.
So Draco was sitting there, in the library hating himself, and trying to think of something to do to make this right. They've made up from previous fights before but afterwards it just becomes more tense, they never truly make up.
Before Draco could think anymore someone slammed their hands on the table he was sitting at.
"Why don't you just leave Hermione alone?" Ron Weasley snapped.
"Why? So she can suffer from all the shit you're doing to her alone?" Draco said angrily.
He never hated Ron Weasley before this year, he was just ill mannered and he was frustrated by how he treated his friends. But now that he's hurt Hermione, Draco did hate him now.
"Once you leave I'm going to take back what's mine," Ron said with a stupid imitation of a smirk.
Draco glared at the man with disdain, "and what's that supposed to mean?" He asked.
"Once you're out of the picture, I'll make her happier than you ever could," Weasley said with a smile as if that would actually work.
"You really think she'd forgive you? After everything you've done to her?" Draco asked incredulously.
"She will," he said dumbly.
"Keep dreaming Weaselbee," Draco said before pretending to work again. He made sure to keep his hand on his wand but luckily the Weasel actually walked away.
As Draco tried to calm himself down so he didn't go after him and hex him into next week, an alarming thought crossed his mind.
What if you did leave?
No, Draco couldn't do that to Hermione. He didn't think he could even do that to himself, he cares for her too much now. But the voice was persistent.
It told him that there wouldn't be anymore fighting. He won't have to look at her everyday and remember that she will never feel the same about him as he does for her. She'll never love him and he knew it.
Besides, then she would finally have what she wants back. Her best friend and the other Gryffindors would be back on her side again now that she wasn't hanging around a death eater. She wouldn't have to worry about Slytherin's hexing her in the hallways.
And best of all, Draco could see her smile again. Even if that means he has to leave...
The rest of that day and a few days after, Draco tried to keep his distance from Hermione. Everytime he got close to telling her he was going to leave her alone from now on, he chickened out.
It just didn't feel right to him.
But today was the day.
Draco had sent Hermione a letter via owl that he wanted to meet her in the Astronomy tower after classes. Well, it's after both of their classes now and Draco was beyond nervous.
He made sure to walk up there as slowly as possible to stall the supposedly inevitable. Dragging his feet, he once again debated whether this was the right thing to do or not.
No, this is what's best for Hermione. Not you. You don't deserve a happy ending anyways, but she sure as hell does. Draco told himself and pushed forward.
Draco walked up what must be thousands of stairs in what felt to be three seconds, he's never dreaded anything more.
He reached the Astronomy Tower where Hermione was waiting for him. Draco found her leaning on the wall near the edge looking out into the woods. The light from the sun made her look angelic and peaceful, but even so he could tell she was tense and if her fiddling fingers told him anything, she was nervous as well.
"Hey 'Mione," Draco called out nervously.
Upon hearing his voice, she whipped her head to look at him before rushing over and giving him a big hug.
"I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry!" Hermione said sounding as if she were about to cry. "I didn't mean what I said!" She added.
Draco was surprised by her outburst but smiled and held her tightly, knowing this would be the last time. He buried his face in her hair and savored the moment.
"You're forgiven. I'm sorry too. I shouldn't have said any of what I did, I didn't mean any of it," Draco admitted. Hermione broke the hug, too soon Draco thought, but stood near him with a smile.
"Apology accepted..are-are we good again?" Hermione asked nervously.
Draco hesitated at that but as she grew more anxious he decided to answer. "Yeah we're good, but um there's something I need to talk to you about.." Draco said even more nervous than she was.
"Oh ok," she said.
"Well, you see I've been uh I've been thinking," Draco started before pausing and avoiding her eyes, "well we've been fighting a lot now and it doesn't seem like you're happy anymore. I understand, don't get me wrong, but I hate seeing you so miserable. So I uh..I don't think we should be friends anymore," he finished looking at the ground with a foul taste in his mouth.
There was a tense silence that followed.
Very tense.
Hermione couldn't believe what she was hearing. Draco didn't think she was happy? So, what, he wanted to make it worst? Didn't he realize that he was the only thing keeping her sane?
Draco prepared himself to be yelled, screamed at and maybe even punched like back in third year. But nothing came, she just stared at him.
After a few moments of agonizing silence, Hermione opened her mouth to say something and Draco flinched. She paused and closed her mouth.
Before Draco could say a word Hermione grabbed his tie and pulled him down to her until their lips crashed together. He was beyond surprised at this point but just as he was about kiss her back, she pulled away.
"Draco Lucius Malfoy, you make me happier," Hermione said. Draco smiled brightly before leaning down and kissing her once more.

In the Name of Love
To everyone around them, what was about to happen had been a complete surprise and not to mention unexpected. But, everyone else didn't know about the secret the two shared. The months of sneaking around Hogwarts just to avoid being seen together, the stolen kisses, the insults they didn't mean, and the fear of what they felt. For if it became public, they'd surely be killed..or worse.
You see, to everyone else, that two despised one another just as they seemingly had for years before now. Even their closest friends didn't have a clue about what they were hiding.
But soon, everyone would know.
The students and staff of Hogwarts gathered around in the courtyard while the Death Eaters were on the other side. Something odd caught most of their eyes though, it was Hagrid. Hagrid, in the midst of the Death Eaters and Voldemort himself, not only that but he was carrying someone.
"Who is it that Hagrid is carrying?" Hermione Granger's panicked voice was heard.
"Who is Hagrid carrying?!" Hermione said louder and in more panic than before.
She got no answer, until..
"Harry Potter is dead," the voice of Voldemort rang out. His voice alone was enough to cause someone's skin to crawl, but for him to say that their Chosen One, their friend, was dead?
No!" Ginny Weasley exclaimed as she tried to rush to the body of the boy she loved.
But her father, Arthur Weasley, held her back as she sobbed uncontrollably as he knew that now wasn't the time to grieve.
They were all still in danger.
Hermione knew this, that's why the only reaction she had was hot, burning tears were running down her face. Harry Potter is practically her brother but he wouldn't want her to put herself or others in danger due to her emotions.
"Harry Potter is dead!" he repeated to the students and staff with grief filled expressions. There were earsplitting screams from those who were close to The Chosen One. Even Draco Malfoy was greatly affected by the loss. Not that he had liked the boy much, but he knew what it meant for him and the rest of the Wizarding World.
"Harry Potter is dead!" He repeated once more but to those on his side of the courtyard, and they laughed.
Draco Malfoy had at this point, not paid much attention to anything else. Lost in the realization that the Light had lost and all was doomed, even he who was on the side who won had still lost. For he had a secret that, once revealed, would make him no different to the ones who had been on the other side the entire time.
He was in love with a muggleborn.
It wasn't until he had heard his father beckoning him across the courtyard that he was snapped back into reality.
"Draco!" His father said gesturing for him to come by his side.
The blond boy hesitated, he could stay. He could be among all the other he would eventually die with, he could stay here and get it over with sooner and not have to live without his love. Then again, what about his family? What would happen to them? Weren't they the ones he had done all of this for, weren't they the ones who got him into all of this in the first place?
"Draco!" His father persisted.
Draco was torn, his family or his beliefs. He I surely took a step forward when a small hand caught his and his grey eyes locked with brown ones.
"Don't do it Draco," Hermione Granger begged him, "stay with us, stay with me."
He paused holding his love's fragile hands tight in his own. Seeing the fear in her eyes, he had made his final decision. He stood tall and more confident in himself then he had been in a long time.
Draco would stay. He would stay for her.
He gave her hand a squeeze and small smile to reassure her of his decision, she smiled tearfully and engulfed him in a hug to which he returned. "Anything for you," he whispered in her ear.
"Thank you," she whispered back before breaking the hug but still held his hand firmly.
"The Malfoy boy has become a filthy blood traitor!" Some Death Eater Draco didn't know called out angrily.
"What is this?" Voldemort called after seeing the exchange, "surely you have raised him better than this, Lucius?"
"Yes, my Lord, we did," Lucius said without emotion.
"It appears you hadn't done a well enough job at it. So few remaining pure families and with even less heirs to carry on their legacy," Voldemort mused, "the mudbloods have ruined so many good family names, Potter's pet has snuck in and now soiled the Malfoy's name."
"Hermione didn't 'soil' the Malfoy name, I did," Draco spoke up, "it was me who fell in love with her and it is me who will gladly choose her over your worthless cause."
"Love," he said in disgust, "what a foolish choice, I thought you were smarter than that. You should be ashamed."
"Just because you've never had it doesn't mean it's foolish," Draco argued, "and I'm not ashamed, I'm doing all this in the name of love. I'm done hiding from it."
"What a disappointment, I had such hopes for this one," Voldemort said sounding hardly disappointed or even surprised, "I'll give you one more chance, young Malfoy. Join me and you family and live a life like you deserve or you can die here and now right after Potter's whore."
"Don't call her that," Draco growled now seething with anger, "my mind is made up, I'd rather be under the cruciatus than live whatever life you would have planned."
"The cruciatus? I do think that can be arranged," Voldemort said casually right before pointing his wand at the boy.
"Cruc-"
Draco closed his eyes in anticipation for the pain he was about to experience, it wouldn't be his first experience with the curse, but it never came. He looked up just in time to see Neville Longbottom cut the head off of Voldemort's snake, Nagini. Voldemort roared at the sight knowing what it meant even when Draco didn't quite understand.
Moments later the fighting resumed, though now Draco Malfoy was known to be fighting on the other side. They had ran back into Hogwarts, if only for their last time. He and Hermione were fighting the death eaters side by side when they heard Hagrid.
"Harry! Where's Harry?" He cried.
While Hermione instantly looked to where his body had been mere seconds before only to find it gone, Draco cast a spell to prevent her from being injured due to her badly timed distraction.
Everything was happening so fast that, before they knew it, everything suddenly stopped when one voice was heard throughout the Great Hall.
"Protego!" Harry Potter shouted.
Everyone watched as Harry and Voldemort dueled for the final time.
And just like that, Voldemort was dead.
Draco had been helping to heal the wounded, he couldn't help but be angry at himself for previously causing a few of them before changing his side but at least he was making it right. He had actually found that he sort of liked helping people like this. Perhaps it was from the exhilaration of it all finally being over, he could finally have the life he wanted. It was after finishing with a sixth year Ravenclaw he didn't recognize that his Mother approached him.
She had gathered him into a hug, which was quite unusual for her especially in a public place, and he recuperated it. "My baby boy," Narcissa kept repeating. When the embrace ended she looked at him with glassy eyes, "I'm so proud to call you my son. You stood for what you believed in and even found love," she told him.
"Mother-" Draco began, truly moved by her words, when she interrupted.
"Speaking of which, I want you to have this," Narcissa told him taking out a small black box, "I'm sure you know what this is and if you care for her as much as you've displayed today, then I'm sure you won't waste any time in using it."
Now Draco was walking with Hermione down the halls of Hogwarts nervously fiddling with the box in his pocket.
"What is it you wanted to talk about? There's no one around anymore I'm sure," Hermione said.
"So impatient," he joked.
"Well while I do love it being just the two of us, there is a lot going on right now," she said in a similar tone.
"I know, I know you'd rather be with your friends than me," he said not unkindly.
She lightly pushed him, "you know that's not true."
"You're right," Draco said trying to stall.
"Plus the anticipation is killing me," Hermione told him.
"In that case maybe I'll wait until later to tell you," Draco teased.
"No! Please just tell me now," she begged and he chuckled.
He got down on one knee.
"I love you more than life itself as I've shown you today and I want to spend the rest of my existence with you. Hermione Jean Granger, will you marry me?" Draco said pulling out the black box to reveal a beautiful golden ring with both red and green gems in it.
The next words will change both of their lives forever.
"Of course I will!"

Halloween Gala (pt 2)
"Granger?"
"Malfoy?"
The two both stared at each other speechless, and what could they say? Neither of them had so much as seen one another since the Battle of Hogwarts and that wasn't the best memory for either.
Hermione didn't even know how to react. She was on the verge of running out of there as fast as possible but at the same time she wanted to stay, he was still the same charming man she had been talking to all night after all. Truth be told, she paid attention when hearing someone mention the name Draco Malfoy or even seeing it in the Daily Prophet. Hermione knew he had changed, but how much?
Draco, on the other hand, wasn't sure whether to let her go to give her some space, in case she tried to punch him like she had in their third year, or to simply wait for her to react first. While he no longer had little to any qualms with the mysterious woman turning out to be Hermione Granger, he had absolutely no idea how she's going to take him being Draco Malfoy. After all, he had tormented her the most during his stay at Hogwarts.
He waited for some reaction, any reaction, but it didn't seem to be coming and it was starting to get awkward just holding her like this with people staring so he gently let her go. She was just looking at him with those big brown doe eyes of hers and Draco knew he had to say something. The anticipation and urge to break the deafening silence was killing him. He blurted our the first thing he could think of.
"Wow I, uh, haven't seen you since..." Draco began but then realized he'd better not go down that road, "..well a long time."
Hermione seemed to snap out of whatever trance she was in as she shook her head and fumbled out a, "yeah."
Draco looked around for anything to talk about when he remembered where they are. "You work at the Ministry?" He asked and noticed others began to stop staring and go on with the party.
"How's you know that?" Hermione asked genuinely confused, though coming back to her original self.
Draco simply gestured around them.
"Oh! Right, yes I work in the Auror Research department," she informed him.
"Really? I'm an Auror, how on Earth have we not bumped into each other sooner?" He asked.
"I have no idea! I have heard Harry and Ron say that you work with them occasionally though," Hermione said cautious about bringing them up. She wasn't sure where he stood with them anymore.
Draco smiled, to her utter shock, "the blokes have been gossiping, have they?" He said amused. As if on que, they appeared.
"Us? Gossiping? I'm offended Malfoy," Harry said.
"Speak of the devil and he shall appear," Draco said to which Harry chuckled.
"Oi, is 'Mione alright? She looks like her head might explode," Ron joked.
"I-I what? Am I missing something here?" Hermione stuttered out.
"Only a lot it seems," Draco said.
"How and when did this happen?" She said gesturing you the three of them.
"Well after the three of us here finished our Auror training, Malfoy started his. At first none of us liked it but when we had our first assignment, we all had each other's back and it all seemed to change from their," Harry explained.
So why didn't either of you tell me?" Hermione asked and her two closest friends gave her an apologetic look. She vaguely noticed that the music had started again.
"Sorry 'bout that, we just weren't sure how you'd react to it. You don't go out into the field much so we didn't think you'd understand," Ron explained.
"I also asked them not to, I wanted to talk to you myself," Draco said with a sheepish smile, "I didn't know you bloody well work so closely to us and I would've expected to run into you a lot sooner than now."
"It's better late than never, right? And by the looks of it the two of you've really hit it off tonight so it works out just fine," Harry said given both of them a knowing look to which both blushed at their very public kiss.
"Yeah.." Draco said rubbing the back of his neck, "at least I found out where I recognized you from."
All of them laughed.
"Oh, by the way, have you seen Ginny? I haven't seen her since our...talk," Harry asked a bit embarrassed at how unsuccessful it had gone.
He was trying to apologize for how they left things and before he knew it, they were arguing and she stomped away. Harry felt awful and wanted to make sure she was ok.
"I think I found her," Draco said amused as he pointed off to the other end of the dance floor where Ginny and none other than Blaise Zabini were dancing. They looked like there was no one else in the world, similar to how Draco and Hermione had felt. People were starting to leave as most of the excitement was over so it wasn't hard to see them.
Harry's face grew pale at the look on his recent ex girlfriends face, he felt a pang in his chest that she was apparently moving on so quickly but he knew that it was for the best. After all, he was the one who broke up with her and it was a few months ago. He tried not to let it show.
"I'll just..talk to her later then," Harry said not able to keep the sadness from his voice.
"It's alright, Mate, now you can ask out that girl," Draco said trying to be helpful but careful not to say her name.
"Girl?" Ron and Hermione questioned simultaneously as Harry's face turned red from embarrassment at the blond's words.
"I-uh-think I'm going to turn in, it's late and-" Harry started before being cut off.
"Harry," Hermione said gently, "you can tell us, who is she?"
Harry looked at Ron but he nodded in encouragement, "it's Luna," Harry said quietly.
"Luna Lovegood?" Hermione questioned, at his nod she smiled, "oh that's lovely! I did have a feeling there was something special between you two awhile back."
"Really?" Harry asked.
"Yes, she understood you better then well any of us could and I think she suits you, Harry," Hermione told him. Harry thanked her and the attention went to Ron.
"I mean I'm surprised but Hermione has a point, if she'll make you happy then why not? You don't need our approval," Ron told him.
"Thank you guys," Harry said then yawned, "but really, I'd better get home."
They all said their goodbyes to Harry and then Ron decided to leave also, Hermione suspected that Harry had something to do with Ron's sudden decision so the two would be alone. Hermione loved them and knew they were just trying to help, but now she was alone with him and didn't have a clue what to say.
"Since they're gone, I'd like to formally apologize to you. I've been nothing but awful to you at Hogwarts and I know an apology won't change the hurt I've cause but I really truly am sorry, Hermione. For all of it. I've worked hard to change into a better man and I'd like to think I've done a good job so far,," Draco told her as searched her face for her reaction, "I understand if you can't forgive me, I probably wouldn't forgive me either, but I've really had a wonderful time with you tonight and I hope that perhaps we could start over?"
Hermione didn't expect such a apology but she could tell he meant every word, besides, if Harry and Ron could forgive him and even be friends with him, then that's enough for her. She had thoroughly enjoyed her time with him as well, and Hermione didn't want it to end here.
"Thank you, I think that's a wonderful idea. I'll never forget what happened, it's helped to shape who I am now, but I'm willing to give you another chance and forgive you," Hermione told him with a smile.
Draco was so happy that she had forgiven him and accepted his offer to start over that, without much thinking, he had lifted her up and spun her before putting her back on the ground. After he had lifted her he worried that might not have been the best move, however she simply laughed at the action with a bright smile on her face. He set her down and dramatically held out his hand.
"Would the lovely Miss Granger care to have one last dance to end the night?" Draco asked.
Hermione giggled and took his hand, "why yes indeed."
At this they began to dance to the music, they laughed and had danced more than once before finally parting. This Halloween night would be one to remember for many, many years to come.

I haven’t used ao3 but can confirm this will make a writer’s day!
i encourage you to go to your favourite writer's ao3 page and comment on an older fic, because i can assure you that it will make their day. It can mean so much to see your work doesn't disappear into the void to be never seen again after a day of people interacting with it. Just, if you have the time, go comment on an older work
(pls reblog this to try and get as much writers a bit of appreciation)

If someone looks uncomfortable when you hug them, please stop hugging them.
If someone shuffles away when you stand beside them, don’t move closer to them again.
If someone shrugs your hand off their shoulder, don’t fucking put your hand back on.
Don’t be an asshole. If someone says they don’t like to be touched, I don’t care how much it “offends” you. Stop touching them.
Stop.

when people ask for your meta of your work that they enjoyed so much
when someone comments on a fic you wrote 982783113502 years ago
getting recc’d
just the small happiness in knowing you made someone out there smile on their way to work/home or at school, in knowing you warmed someone’s heart somehow

This makes me love them so much more.
I tried to come up with some reasons why I like Bill and Fleur.
- Bill was described as a very cool guy - easy going, fun to be around and adventurous. in my imagination he’s like Bon Jovi in Blaze of Glory.
- Fleur is a triwizard champion and loyal to Harry.
- Then Bill goes to Hogwarts to watch the third task and he INSTANTLY calls Fleur’s attention. Not the other way around.
- Fleur, who obviously had loads of people drooling over her, wasn’t as nearly as interested in them as she was in Bill.
- Because Harry, who’s quite oblivious, realizes it first than Bill himself.
- I like to think Bill didn’t look at Fleur when she was eyeing him, which annoyed her so much. I like to think Bill has such personality, that he never acts foolish around anyone. I don’t think we was mature like Percy, but actualy just very down to earth, bc every Weasley brother look up to him.
- Everyone thinks Bill and Fleur were just messing around, and then Fleur confronts Mrs Weasley - does anyone have ever done that before? lol -, fiercely, about truly wanting to marry him, not caring that he was injured, in fact, admiring him for being brave.
And they were examples for Tonks and Remus, the way Tonks simply admire Fleur for not caring about the scars. Well, that is how powerful Bill and Fleur could be.
- And when Harry sees Bill smiling while Fleur was walking in her wedding dress, like he never faced Greyback in his life. In the middle of a war, their wedding was the last light moment Harry had before hunting horcruxes.
- and they settled down on a cottage near the sea. A lonely and beautiful place. Like a true fairy tale.

Halloween Gala (pt 1)
Hermione Granger was not going to attend the annual Halloween Party the Ministry threw. At least, that's what she had thought. She wasn't the kind of person to enjoy party's much, she preferred to spend her time reading, working, or spending time with family or those in her circle of friends.
However, this was not what was going to happen.
Why was this? Because one of her best friends came over begging Hermione to go with her.
"Please 'Mione! Dad and Ron both work for the Ministry so we're all expected to go, I don't think I can be around Harry so soon..." Ginny Weasley explained.
"I don't know, Gin.." she said unsure of what to tell her.
Ginny and Harry had broken up a month and a half ago, they both decided they were better off as friends. However, Ginny has taken the breakup really hard and wasn't ready to be around Harry much. As Harry, Ron, and Hermione had become Auror's together, avoiding Harry Potter was not an easy task for the youngest Weasley.
It was easiest for her to be around Hermione. Firstly because they were both girls and Hermione could better understand what she's going through as she had gone through a breakup with Ron a year prior. Secondly because while Hermione was technically an Auror, she worked in the research part of the department while the boys were in all the action.
"Pleeeaaase Mione, we can just hangout the whole time if that's what you want! It's a masquerade so no one will know who we are," The redhead pleaded.
"It's not hard to figure it out, Gin. Plus that's what you said last time you dragged me to a party and you left me by the punch bowl," Hermione pointed out.
"Fine, you can bring a book then! And this year they're putting a charm on everyone at the door so you won't recognize them," Ginny urged. Hermione groaned and her friend smiled, she knew she won.
Now Hermione was standing awkwardly by the punch bowl in an overly fancy dress and uncomfortable masquerade mask. She cursed herself for letting Ginny get her into this because what she assumed to be Harry had come over and wanted to talk to her privately which is a good thing, however, that leaves Hermione all by herself. Ginny and Hermione instantly told each other who they were once the spell was cast on them, Hermione could piece together who Harry was.
When she saw a glimpse of Harry and Ginny through the crowd she knew it was going to take awhile for the Weasley to return as her face was as red as her hair in anger. So Hermione found a place to sit and began to read the book she brought, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
As she was finishing up the chapter she was on, an oddly familiar voice spoke.
"Good choice of book," they said.
"Uh thank you," Hermione said looking up to find a man standing there in an expensive suit and, though it was hard to tell with the dark lighting and mask he wore, blond hair. "You read muggle books?" She asked, while she loved reading them it was rare for her to find a witch or wizard who shared the same interest.
"I do actually," the voice said.
"Do you have a favorite?" She asked to which he thought for a moment.
"While I've read quite a few, the one you're reading would have to top them all," he told her, "any favorites of yours?"
"My favorite has to be Little Women, I do enjoy Pride and Prejudice though I find it difficult to see how Elizabeth could change her mind about Mr. Darcy so quickly," Hermione said.
At that the two, who believed each other to be strangers, chatted away about books wizarding and muggle alike. They debated their thoughts and preferences in each piece of literature brought out, finding they were quite comfortable sharing more and more about themselves, while making sure to keep their identity's secret.
After what felt like a few minute but what in fact much longer, Hermione noticed a change of song that happened to be a favorite of hers. She perked up and lightly swayed to the music, the man seemed to take notice.
"Might I have this dance?" He asked holding his hand out to help her up.
"You may," she said taking his hand and moving to the dance floor with him. "I think it'd be important to warn you that I'm not a very good dancer," Hermione said.
"Don't worry, I happen to be a terrific dancer," he said with a confident smile.
"We'll just see about that," she said smiling back.
"Indeed," he agreed.
The man really was a good dancer, Hermione didn't even step on his foot once throughout their time dancing. It felt natural with him, as if they were two parts of one whole. Their conversations took a deeper turn as they learned more personal things about each other, such as their upbringing or having gone to Hogwarts. This time it was quite difficult to keep who they are a secret, though they somehow managed. The hours flew by and they paid no mind to time and could stayed there dancing throughout the entire night.
But like all good things, it ended too soon.
A small shriek rang through the room, when Hermione looked up she found Ginny storming off away from whom she assumed was Harry, who looked helpless and ashamed. Hermione made a reluctant step towards her friend, the man didn't fail to notice.
"Friend of yours?" He asked.
"Yes actually. I'd better make sure she's alright, it's been wonderful meeting you," Hermione said with apologetic eyes before dashing across the room to the girl in question.
*****
Draco Malfoy stood by the punch hoping the woman he'd just met would return. He found himself charmed by her quick wit and character, not many witches or even wizards he's met have either. Draco watched her hurry off, as he got lost in thought about the last hour. He was interrupted from his thoughts by someone coming up next to him and began talking.
"This party is less lively then my Mum's fifth husband," Draco knew this was none other than his closest friend, Blaise Zabini, whom he brought with him to the party.
"Was he the one with or without the lisp?" Draco asked. Mrs. Zabini has had a long line of ex husbands, all having been "unexplainably" killed soon after marriage, so it was difficult for Draco to keep up with all of them.
"Without, he had more of a drawl," Blaise explained.
"Ah," Draco said without much interest, his mind wandering to who this mystery woman might be and noticed that she was no where in sight.
"What's eating you, Mate?" Blaise asked upon noticing his detached behavior.
"Nothing is "eating" me, Blaise, I'm just trying to figure something out," Draco said with a roll of the eyes. Before the Italian could retort, Draco perked up as his grey eyes found the girl once more. Blaise followed his gaze and a teasing smirk formed on his face.
"Trying to figure out the girl over there I presume?" Blaise said.
"I recognized her voice, I just can't put a finger on it," Draco complained, "stupid bloody spell."
Blaise laughed, "well all will be revealed soon, midnight is in half an hour."
"I suppose.." Draco agreed.
He would much rather have the satisfaction of figuring it out on his own but he knew his friend was right, at Midnight everyone's masks (magical and physical) will be taken off to reveal their true identity. The truth was, Draco was nervous to be around her when it was revealed who he was. While Lucius Malfoy was sent to Azkaban, his wife and son weren't punished except for the harsh treatment of the remaining Wizarding World. This was one reason why Draco had become an Auror, to help rebuild himself and his name.
"Hey," Blaise said putting a hand on his friend's shoulder, "don't let your fear get in the way, either go over there and sweep her off her feet or you can spend forever wondering what could've happened."
Draco gave him a weak smile, they've been friends their entire lives and Blaise knew Draco sometimes better than Draco knew himself. He was beyond grateful to have a friend like him.
"Thanks Mate," he said before Blaise walked off into the crowd.
As Draco was still getting the nerve, he saw his friend start talking to the mystery woman's friend before they made their way to the dance floor. This was Draco's chance. He walked over there to see her watching his friend dance around.
"Would you be up for another dance?" Draco asked slightly nervous.
The girl grinned when she saw who it was, "I'd love to."
And, they did.
This time, however, they didn't spend much time talking but rather laughing and enjoying the other's company. Draco spinner her in an attempt to dramatically end the dance, however this resulted in her laughing that contagious laugh.
The woman calmed herself and they now had both Grey and brown eyes locked on the other's, all humor forgotten. Draco hadn't even realized he was leaning towards her until she was doing the same. Their lips crashed together and nothing else mattered, they were the only things that existed in that moment.
Not even the loud timer buzzing and streamers being released to announce it was midnight.
Their masks were gone.
They didn't hear the other partygoer's reactions to what they were witnessing. The gasps of their friends and strangers alike.
At least, until they broke apart for air to find the change in appearance.
"Granger?"
"Malfoy?"
