Rice Water Revisited

I’ve been using rice water for almost two months now, every 2 weeks. This time around, I did it a little bit differently. Since it was my bday weekend , I decided to doll myself up and gave my hair a real treat. I started off with a prepoo with my OGX conditioners and my oils. I left this on for about an hour , then I washed and used my aphoghee 2 min reconstructor as my light protein. To finish off, I used the Silicon Mix Bambu Nutritive Hair Treatment. This is touted as one of the holy grail products in Dominican Salons. It was my first time using the conditioning treatment, however I had previously used the Silicon Mix Bambu leave in and loved it.

One of the things that many reviewers have talked about is how you get that salon fresh smell and look. I can definitely attest to the smell, my hair still has that marvellous smell three days later. My hair feels amazing, really bouncy and a great sheen.

The one thing for me personally is that I will use this conditioning treatment when I’m 9wks post relaxer onwards. Reason being, I have really fine hair and I find that it makes my hair feel really light. I really loved it though and I will certainly use it again. Finally, I’m back on track to maintaining a healthy hair journey. I just got to keep it up this time. I am setting some hair goals that I will try to attain in the next 6- 8 months. In terms of health and length, this is where I want to be again.

I’m going to be working on my edges and continued overall health, strength and thickness .

July 2nd

I am three weeks post relaxer and I have been enjoying and loving my hair. My hair is not shedding and it feels thicker and certainly stronger. Nowadays, I have been going with the ‘less is more’ philosophy, mostly because I’m busy , but also I’ve noticed that less manipulation leads to more results for me. For this week , I’ve decided to do a prepoo with oils and OGX coffee and niacin conditioner. I’ve let this sit for about 3 hours under a plastic cap and my hothead heat cap.

I washed my hair with Nexxus split-end binding shampoo and conditioned with a mixture of Nexxus humectress and split-end binding conditioner. I was gonna leave this on for a bit, but to be honest I got a splitting migraine and decided to just hurry up rinse and lay down. I put a t-shirt on my hair and wrapped it up and left it on for about an hour and half. At this point , I just put some of my Cream of nature leave -in, Redken anti snap, OGX anti- breakage serum and Nexxus oil infinite . I pinned up my hair with a snap clip , used my foam wrap and put this under my sleep cap and just gave it up for a lost cause. Surprisingly, when I woke up headache free, my air-dried hair wasn’t too frizzy or pouffy. I flat ironed my hair after coming home from work and I’m very happy with my results.

Happy New Year everyone. Last year was definitely a busy year for me. I’m hoping that I will be able to keep up with posting more this year. So, let’s jump right in and I will tell you what I’ve been doing with my hair. I have been protective styling lately with wigs. I am not really a wig type of girl, but I’ve realized that you can make wigs work for you if the time is invested and you choose ones that suit your face and your personality.

Nowadays, lace front human wigs are definitely things that many women incorporate in their everyday lives. There are quite a few YouTuber’s that have tutorials that can tell how to tweak and pluck lace front wigs to conform to your face better.There are also synthetic wigs that are even more affordable and come in all shapes and sizes. I have bought a variety at my local beauty store and I relish the experience of trying new styles without messing with my hair.

I wear my wigs everyday and keep my hair tucked away from the harsh elements that is Canadian winter. This has helped with time saving in the mornings with me just pulling it on. For me, it also doubles as a toque that keeps my head warm. I still try to keep up with my normal routine of washing my hair every 2 weeks,sometimes 3 if I’m pressed for time. However, I haven’t done so well with moisturizing and sealing nightly and my hair has become somewhat dry and lackluster.

I was able to stretch my relaxer for 15 weeks this time , because I didn’t have to worry about anyone seeing the kinky coily mess that was my head. My hair feels much fuller than it use to, I haven’t used any kind of heat since my last relaxer. I’ve just been air drying my hair on wash days. I think I’ve gained a little length since the last time as well. I did my relaxer today and my hair has a bit of texture in it as I didn’t let my hair process too long, because it was tingling a bit. This is one of my problems with stretching for this long, my hair is usually itchy and I can’t resist which tends to result in chemical burns. All in all, I think I did good. Here is to another 3 month stretch. Don’t worry my lovelies, I will try to post at least every two weeks. Happy growing ladies!!!
