and like--i don't know man. i feel like such a coward.

part of me wants to leave them up, stick it to em. they get to have their racist shit up, why can't i keep mine? *it's not fucking fair*

...and then part of me doesn't want to get shot.

like. i'm sorry, but that is a *very* real possibility. with what just happened? it's like those gates are rickety and ready to be opened , if not already, and i'm just staring at them waiting.

i know i'm more than those flags but they are a part of me, deeply ingrained and putting them away like that felt like going back in the closet. a slap in the face even

i was talking with my roommate and partner about the news today and as we were discussing there was a loud *boom boom boom*

and we got very. very quiet.

i live in a conservative town. trump flags and even israhell flags fly high in the neighborhood. and it's completely fucking *normal*. i think that part is what gets a hold of me the most

i just moved into my own place since i was--what? 19? finally financial stable enough to move out from under a conservative household that blared fox news every waking moment. i was so happy to be able to finally, *finally* put up my pride flags in the window

and then the booms happened. and then the discernment of fireworks or gunpowder. and the paranoia of every headlight passing by. and then suddenly, i'm in front of my flags. and for the first time in barely six months.... i'm packing them up

...quietly. silently.
