I will not tolerate any London Boy disrespect because that song is the cheekiest fuck you to the PR narrative and here is why!
1. Lover was recorded and finished at the time that this song was created and added last minute - we know this because Cautious Clay confirmed he received a call after the date we know lover was completed, he was given 24 hours to respond to using his song as an interpolation on London Boy.
2. That song by Cautious Clay called Cold War features in the lesbian sex scene in BookSmart- which Taylor posted publicly about watching. This was not a popular song at the time!
3. The audio at the start is Idris Alba talking about going on a paid date and what they might do – “We could go riding on my scooter”
Sooo she finishes the album, (if you subscribe to lover coming out theory) had to quickly backtrack on plans and add a song to the lover is about Joe narrative. Picks a song from one of the most iconic lesbian sex scenes of that year, calls up the artists and gives him 24 hours to accept, makes a new song, samples Idris Alba talking about fake dates, the lyrics are “You know I love a London boy” – not “I love”, she’s poking fun at the public perception of her life. It’s brilliant, it’s satirical, i’m upset that more people don’t get it.
FACTS! 😬

(…) She and Garbo became friends during A Woman of Affairs, as Sebastian recalled:
Everyone trembled when Garbo first came on the lot, [but] I decided that I would just be myself; that Greta must be only human and that she probably disliked all the kowtowing that greeted her from all sides. So when our director introduced us, I said, “Hello,” casually… Greta inquired, “How do you feel?” “Tired,” I answered. “I do, too,” said Greta… "I’m glad that you are tired. I like tired people.“
Garbo liked Sebastian and invited her to lunch in her dressing room that very day, and thereafter. She also had her cast in The Single Standard six months later. Once, when Sebastian rented a new house, Garbo asked to see it. “When Greta dropped in,” said Sebastian, “my chairs hadn’t yet arrived and so we ate our luncheon—baked beans and Boston brown bread— sitting on the floor. Greta seemed to enjoy the grand confusion. It was really a lark for her, as she enjoys herself most when she can romp about and not have to give a thought to how she looks.”

I just had a thought 💭
Assuming I am right that they have a daughter, what if her name is Rose 🌹 or Isla Rose?
The rose 🌹 dresses they both wore recently got me thinking. They were quite loud. So I googled “Isla Rose” and lo and behold there is an Isla Rose flower. Isla Rose is also a popular baby name.
I have not seen any rationale for the Rose 🌹 dresses, so is this perhaps it?

“Very early into her affair with Katharine Hepburn, Laura Harding became ‘sickeningly jealous’ of Kate’s devoted attention to Hope Williams. One night after rehearsals, Kate and Laura had a big fight in Kate’s dressing room that was overheard by the stagehands. "If you want and expect monogamy from me,” Kate shouted, “you’ve got the wrong woman. I will go after any woman—or man—I want, and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
Laura had stormed out of the theater, vowing never to speak to Kate again, although the two women were planning to drive with Luddy and Jack to Fenwick to meet Kate’s parents that weekend.
Hope Williams rejection wasn’t on moral grounds. She was, in fact, a lesbian herself and was actively involved in a torrid romance at the time with Tallulah Bankhead.
It was backstage one night that Beatrice Stewart introduced Kate to the dynamic and colorful Alabama belle, Miss Bankhead herself, who had arrived to pick up her date for the evening, Hope Williams, for a late night party in Harlem. Kate and Tallulah did not spark on their first meeting, although they would know each other “as sort of friends” for decades.“

Based on the research I’ve done from Being Gay, the way women express love and desire is typically… quieter. Take the shame we feel as a result of widespread homophobia and mix it with the shame all women have been made to have about our sexual desires, and you’ve got a shame casserole. So the way we communicate desire to other women is by staring at them silently, then walking away, ultimately never speaking. Glancing is our mating call, and thus should be the central thesis of every lesbian film.
