I will die on the hill that Jo is such a fun character to think about. She doesn't have a lot going on but what she DOES have is:

Overprotective dad in the CIA (oof)

Mom back home in her home state seemingly? (might be divorced? maybe only her dad moved with her? unclear)

Consistent prioritization of career over love life (except for the one time she backed down at the last minute before telling Kendall about getting the role in big time breakup)‼️‼️ (They could've done so much with this fr)

Notoriously professional at her job (and rightfully livid at Kendall for not respecting it) for someone who had apparently just started her career when she was introduced

CW actress and seemingly a prominent one at that

Has an overbearing management team that micromanages her image in a way that the dogs' doesn't, especially in regards to her dating life (ah good ole double standards)

Has the exact same temper as Kendall during arguments (so fun. SO fun)

Seems to just let Kendall take the lead most of the time even when she's not feeling it (not awesome for her but very interesting from an audience standpoint)

Has a jealoussss streakkkk (jealously plotlines aren't everyone's bread and butter but boy are they mine)

I'm sorry this isn't really a bullet point but it's so funny and so telling of her character that when pushed slightly on a lie she doubled down so hard she had to hire someone about it and then visibly was like WHY DID I DO THAT plssss girl

Add that to the mansionsitting episode where she freaks out about Kendall not needed her and that just spells out a woman whose existence has revolved around being a mother so long that she’s become disconnected with her identity away from her kids

Which is a long way of saying I hope she is in a bajillion hobby and social clubs the older Kendall and Katie get and the more economic mobility they gain as a family (thanks Kendall) and that she finds a passion for fucking. writing or whatever that brings her fulfillment outside the home

in retrospect carlos garcia seems the type to excitedly say yes to a guy asking him out not realizing that what's happening is romantic and ending up having a boyfriend for way longer than is reasonable before someone points it out and he's like "my buddy? yeah we hang out all the ti-- what?"

ok here's my takes on what the lgbt situash is with the btrtv cast

kendall: bisexual but has never been single long enough to do self reflection about it. will probably have a lightbulb moment at 27 and doesn't consider clothed petting with james to be gay bc they're bros

james: that's between him and his reflection but there's kissing men involved in some capacity. like kendall i'm not sure he has the capacity to look inward like that while he's IN the band because everything is always happening so much

logan: bi and by (ha) far the most likely to actually explore his sexuality on his own time (and goes about it in an oddly scientific way too). most likely to cause a media situation by being spotted at a gay bar and it turns out to be the way that he comes out to the guys

carlos: is carlos

jo: bi also but only marginally more aware of it than her manz. if her and kendall's relationship survives into their adult lives there WILL be an experimental threesome that will create more questions than answers and everyone comes out of it needing to process. she just thought thinking women were hot was normal

camille: intended to grind on that girl at a party straight girl style and ended up involved in the larger seattle polycule and making a very kitschy public statement about the place of queerness in the entertainment industry . bisexual and dragged logan to that bar
