I keep thinking about how life or death situations have been a constant motivator in Tara and Rebecca's relationship.
After seeing her friends nearly getting blown up in 16x03, Tara realises how in those moments of fear, she just wanted Rebecca to hold her hand and tell her it was going to be okay. That's the day Tara tells Rebecca she wants her to move in.
Even when they're broken up, later in S16 as Tara once again finds herself worrying about a team member's life, Rebecca still silently takes her hand. They're not even dating, but it's Rebecca's reminder to Tara that she understands the fear.
Then, in 17x06 Rebecca has to helplessly stand by as she watches Tara try and diffuse a bomb. That incident was the tipping point, it once again reminded Rebecca that the BAU agents are ALWAYS putting their lives at risk. Life is short and she realises Tara needs to be part of hers again. That episode ends with the 'I don't want to be alone tonight' line, and Tara silently gets into elevator and takes Rebecca's hand.
17x10, Rebecca is once again faced with the fear that she's lost Tara, when the Aida compound explodes and the team's comms go dead. When she and Garcia finally hear from Tara, there are tears of relief in Rebecca's eyes.
Skip six months to S18. The Gold Star case is closed. Tara and Rebecca are living together, they are happy, but Rebecca still has a fear of Tara leaving her.
18x02 Tara assures her she's not going anywhere and she means it, in the sense of their relationship. Tara has no plans of letting Rebecca go again. She loves her wholeheartedly.
But what Tara can't promise, what NONE of the BAU agents can ever promise their partners, is that they'll live to see another day. Time and time again Rebecca has already witnessed how often thes people put themselves in harm's way.
To me, the MOST heartbreaking moment in the final scene of 18x07 was the tiny, momentary, hesitation in Rebecca's hand when she sees Tara has been shot. Her hand initially hovers over the wounds, before she goes to check Tara's pulse, to hold her face and cradle her in that silent, terrifying split second of grim recognition.
Basically the moment Tara jumped in front of her and took those two bullets, she basically broke her promise to Rebecca thst she wasn't going anywhere...

I feel like this is an unpopular opinion, but more people should read incomplete/unfinished/in-progress fanfics.
I've noticed this huge trend where creators on tiktok and tumblr who will be explaining how to use Archive Of Our Own to new users and they always say "and make sure to scroll down and click completed only" or how people will go out of their way to mention they only read completed fics 'because they were traumatized when they forgot to check the dates and didn't realize this fic hadn't been updated since 2012'.
The thing is - I think by not engaging with and/or actively avoiding writer's WIPs readers are potentially adding to the aggregate of abandoned works. Now this obviously isn't the case for all abandoned fics, anything from major life events, to loss of interest, to getting busy can be a reason for a fic getting abandoned - but at least on some level I just know that writers are quitting while they're ahead when they aren't garnering any response or feedback because reading WIPs has become unpopular. If you're worried about reading something that hasn't been updated since 2012 then you can use the date updated function to sort out old fics.
Anyways, support your favorite fanfic writers by engaging with their WIPs.

It is actually crazy how being an ugly middle school girl impacts you forever. Like for years you believe that if you have a crush on someone you are evil and you’re making them uncomfortable. And that’s even BEFORE you realize you’re a lesbian.

Rewatching Grey's Anatomy from the top just for the chance to hate these people all over again. George is still god awful and l to think that years later they created the character of Levi to answer the question if I would like George more if she was gay. The answer is no, but I appreciate them trying
