20. On 'popular' blogs.

      If I said “I don’t care at all”, I’d lie. My anxiety won’t let me ignore the popularity stuff fully. I’m easily impressed by others, so like many people I end up being shy when it comes to approaching the ‘big guys’. Even more so if I admire them from afar and consider them quality.

      Still, I try getting over that and get out of my comfort zone to interact with the people I want to interact with. You shouldn’t be scared or think you’re not worthy of their time because they’re more well known than you. Popularity isn’t a direct sign of quality. Plus, underneath they still are people just like you who may even be just as shy.

       If starting something with someone isn’t against of any of their rules, then what are you waiting for? Should none of you both make a move, then you might miss out on something great.

11. On your character.

     So here it comes, the moment where I gush about one of my old favs and probably my numero uno in Mortal Kombat? ‘ere we go for some of my history with the franchise.

     As a kid, I’d play MK2 with neighbor on PS1 and we’d scrap despite being both kinda bad but still competitive (he’s probably still salty that I was the better of us both at most video games). And of course when you’re introduced to a fighting game franchise, you always face the “i don’t know any of these characters so i’ll pick whichever’s the most appealing to me” phase. 

     For my kid self it was Scorpion. Because he was so kool, he’s a damn yellow (my fav color) ninja. And oh look he can drag your coward ass over here with that spear. Oh heck he’s got a skull under his mask. Ninja ghost-rider? Sign me up.

     He was my first and most used character. Despite playing more chars and finding new favs (kung lao, shang tsung, raiden, sub zero at the time), scorpion still wouldn’t budge from the number one spot. Same when playing other MK games as time went on.

     When his story was more fleshed out, I liked him even more because I’m a sucker for tragic anti-heroes. And yes, I’m okay with him being Quan-Chi’s bitch part. It’s not my favorite era, but it’s still an important part of who Hanzo is and what makes him as a character so I can’t simply gloss it over and ignore it. Plus it gives me all the more reasons to curb-stomp Quan-Shithead. 

     Now I look forward to play MK11 myself, because Hanzo received so much character development and I finally get to see him out of his servitude and having to make amends. It’s time for the redemption arc aka one of the parts I love the most about such characters.

     Also he’s hot and a beautiful man.

12. On your own writing.

      Oh ho ho. I’ll preface this by saying I’m very critical of every of my works, even when it’s a hobby. I’m never satisfied, which is both a blessing and a curse as I drives me into trying harder but leaves me too self-conscious. I’ve troubles with words in general so putting them together into pretty AND meaningful sentences isn’t something I’m natural with. It’s still a good exercise for my creativity and to keep the cogs in my brain runnin’ while still having fun.

     Because at the end of the day I still get a tooooon of fun from it. It’s a hobby so I know I won’t be in trouble if I mess up or don’t manage to do my best. I’ve yet to tame my social anxiety fully but I’m slowly learning how to do so. Being able to express myself freely in an universe I love through something chill really helps me taking it easy.

      Also I always love learning anything and everything and getting better. So when I take a second to look back and compare my current writing to my first cringy drafts, it makes me smile. At times I’m pretty content with my writing even though I want to push forward and be 10% as good as people I look up to ‘round here.

      On top of that, I’m French so I’m glad to learn a new language that can be pretty useful outside the roleplay sphere. 

16. On roleplaying in general.

      I’d be hard pressed to say it’s all sunshine and butterflies. But I wouldn’t mind saying it’s more akin to rainbows. It’s made of both sunshine and rain and it leaves a pretty damn worth seeing result. I’ve had my share of bad experiences with roleplaying, but I’m more focused on the good it has brought. I’m truly thankful for the positive things it added in my life. 

      Roleplaying is an outlet for me to be creative but also to learn how to manage my anxiety more. I’ve always been shy about sharing my stuff, like drawings, little stories, writing, etc.. so it’s good to be able to let go and face those difficulties. I was also able to meet great people, learn many things so I’m very glad to roleplay.

2. On OCs.

     *breaths in* LISTEN , I   LOVE   OCS.  Standing there screaming my love for them for everyone to hear is the best way to sum up my views on original characters. But I can afford trying to be more in depths. For me making ocs has always been a struggle despite being really fun , so big respect to those who gave it a shot or had one running for some time.   

      I love seeing people’s imagination shine through character creations (among other things ofc) and said character grow as threads go on. Speaking of which, it’s always a honor to be part of such threads. Kudos if world building is in the package.

If you’re an OC blog, please keep on going and throw all your characters at me!! <3

10. On URLs.

     Well, they aren’t my priority. As in, they don’t determine whether I’ll follow you or not. That said, they’re still part of a blog’s identity and on the first things that’ll come to mind when thinking about one. So, the more memorable and unique it is, the more it’ll pop in my mind first and I’ll recognize who it is even more easily. It’s also neat when they hold a particular meaning for the mun and muse, pouring more character into the thing.

      Now then, when I say unique, I don’t mean ultra long urls I can’t remember and can’t tag in memes when I’d like to. Oh and as you’ll see, despite everything I say I’m part of those who can’t figure a clever url for my life but I don’t think it’s a bad thing at all. Finding a word or two, or a play on them that’s meaningful, simple to identify on the dash and to tag, and that isn’t already taken is a tough job. 

19. On icon/gif/image use.

     I probably should add this in my rules when I remake them but I don’t think they’re indispensable. I’m totally open with writing iconless threads from my partner’s end, or even remove mine if that somehow causes an issue. 

     I still find them to be a neat bonus though. It lets me picture expressions or overall scene a little clearer and since I personally want my blog to keep a certain palette and aesthetic, using icons one more way to help furthering that goal.

    But, I’ve a big pet peeve for un-cropped images that clog up the whole thread page. I don’t care as much for tiny icons as they at least don’t get in my way. Big images and big gifs through the gif search engine though I can’t handle.
