Magi x Custom Robo - Baal

Well this is a bit over half a year in the making but I finally finished the front sketch on a crossover between Magi and a personal all-time favorite series called Custom Robo!

This one is Baal, the first Djinn of the first Dungeon in Magi. I tried to carry over as many notable details as I reasonably could from his original designs in both the manga and anime into Custom Robo - And I think I did an okay job! Since Robos are made of 5 parts, I decided to showcase just the main body here - He does have two legs, I just have one stowed away in the waist-piece - Both in reference to another Robo called Jameson and for imagined mechanical reasons.

Extra stuff under the cut if you want - It’s stats for if Baal were an actual usable Robo.

(Note that the body stats will have two numbers - The first will be for Custom Robo Arena style readouts, the second will be for Custom Robo Battle Revolution style readouts. Some birthday pixel fanart for @morimakesfanart of their OC, Mori, on a fishing trip to a smaller version of Destiny Islands with Sinbad and Rafayel!

I had originally wanted this to be a full-blown comic but I uh... I blanked on the script. xD;; orz Both the prior mugshots of Rafayel and Sinbad were intended to be used in the piece - All I remember in total is that Sinbad was laughing in response to something in the conversation between Mori and Rafayel and Mori just turning around and giving the puffed cheek look in the mugshot. I learned a lot from doing all three of these mugshots as well as spriting the background - And I've still got a lot more to learn as well. Happy birthday, Mori! Here's to this year hopefully being a good one!

Sometimes keeping within the 16-bit limit I give myself can be a bit of a challenge. That said, I had a ton of fun working on this, even through the migraine I had which delayed me a bit!

This was also the first time I've ever sprited hair like this, and I think I did pretty good! The look is meant to be kinda "grumpy" but maybe this reads more "down-trodden" or "serious". Not quite sure.

Happy Sinbad Day!

I made a Battle Network styled mugshot/emote of Sinbad laughing. A dear friend of mine showed me Magi last year, and got me hooked into it pretty hard!

It may or may not have turned into a hyperfixation, since it was all I could think about for a good part of last year. Happy Birthday, Sinbad!

So a while back (... Yeesh, going to be 8 years ago now), I posted some battle network style mugshots for some people over at the Xenomeme Discord server. Original thread can be found here: https://www.tumblr.com/syaewr/166320603520/bn-style-xenox-mugshots I've made a few new ones since then and revamped a few of them - While I won't be showing all the revamped ones, I figured I could at least post the ones of my characters.

For starters: I renamed "Sora" to "O-4" and animated an "input acknowledged" sequence. There's also Mike Haulberst, who uses the same mimeosome once story reasons happen.

Following O-4 but sticking to the same fandom is Rui, and they're *very very mad*. I tried to animate a sort of "fire-in-the-eyes" and "breathing-through-clenched-teeth" sort of rage. I think I nailed it, or at bare minimum got really close.

Finally is Miyurei, my FFXIV character. I did this one towards the end of 2023. It's supposed to be them reading a book as a Summoner/Scholar - Getting the book to fit in the shot took a bit of doing but I think it came out okay!
