the beginnings of my paleolithic (or at least heavily demodernized) Newcrest. Willow Creek shares many if not all of its assets with Newcrest so I shudder to think what will become of it when I'm done.
I think Newcrest is the best candidate for remakes because its layout is not outrageously modern, it has plenty of lots, and it's base game. though maybe some day I will give Willow Creek another chance.
also, stacking buildings on top of each other? really, EA? well, I give you stackable rocks. if you don't look too closely, they fit perfectly.

TS2: Roman building kit
today, I bring you a whole building kit! kind of. it consists of 5 parts, see more under the cut. PICTURE HEAVY LONG POST!
Canonical Column: Romanized Default + Expanded
I changed the top part, partially remapped the column, and replaced the textures: instead of five wooden swatches, the column now comes in five default shades of plaster.
I used the crossover shade between 1 and 2 to make painted plaster versions.
there are also the following granite options:
BUT WAIT… THERE'S MORE! I also made these:
1 - half-column, 2 - inner corner, 3 - outer corner, 4 - end column
I did not make an offset version of the half column, because I honestly prefer to use quartertileplacement cheat to place in between wall segments.
my edits of the mesh are slaved to the original Canonical Column, so they will pick up whatever swatches it has.
DOWNLOAD HERE
Roman Molding
I. white/black borders + colourful panels
II. silver/golden/blue/black patterned borders (+ scenario black panels)
upper, middle and lower parts are separate. I am not sure if it was the best decision, but I prefer to have variability where I can. they all fit on a single wall-height mesh, so altering/deleting will be tricky if there are multiple pieces on the same wall. you can find molding overlays in Decorative - Miscellaneous.
DOWNLOAD MOLDING I HERE
DOWNLOAD MOLDING II HERE
Scenes of Life frescoes
these are wall overlays, like the molding. somewhat transparent to mix better with the wall. some are a part of a theme (leisure, trade/art, life events, hunting/fighting), some just feature sims (or a cat). most feature my sims, but for some I used @guessimate's pictures (thank you!)
I. 1 tile overlays
II. 2 tiles overlays
you can find them in Decorative - Miscellaneous as well.
DOWNLOAD 1 TILE HERE
DOWNLOAD 2 TILES HERE
Sceneries of Life walls
these are also murals/frescoes BUT actual walls, all are 4 walls wide. located in Poured category.
some serve as a nice background for wall overlays.
DOWNLOAD HERE
THE Roman walls
just in case you don't have your own two-colour walls that you see in almost every picture of a public Roman building. white, white + red, and red. you can combine the first two, and the red one is mainly for good measure: it CAN'T be used below the white + red (because I incorporated a white line at the bottom of the white+red wall to get rid of the red line between it and the white wall above... grrr). the texture is from Maxis "Southwestern Stucco".
DOWNLOAD FROM THE FOLDER HERE
P.S.
I want to express my gratitude to the people who made this possible. the credit for the wall overlay mesh goes to Numenor. I left the tribute in the mesh name, which I grabbed here (another thanks to BoilingOil and Pixelhate). my meshes are cloned and with their own GUIDs, so that they appear in the catalog separately; you don't need the original ones. in my edits, I've changed the TXMT according to Hat's SimPe tricks, and it does make a difference in how molding and frescoes look on the walls!
for the columns, I want to thank 71robert13. I did not mess with his Corinthian pilasters (which are a must have) nor did I clone them, but I used them to see what he did there to achieve the same effect. mainly, I just checked how they are positioned.

Hi, sychik. I've been trying to download the "17th century dress kit" from the 31st July, 2021, but it won't let me, it says it has been an error with the download. It's a SFS link. Thanks in advance!!
hi and thanks for letting me know! it's probably the usual SFS issues, should fix itself in some time because the rar is still there. I am, however, getting fed up with the issues. especially with the "you haven't logged in in a while, go f yourself here's the code" when I literally was there a couple of days before.
does anyone know of a decent file hosting alternative? I would be interested in moving all my downloads there, to be honest.
upd. I'll be moving to Google Drive when I find the time.
upd. 2. time found, here's the link to the dress kit

so, my plans: I will be reinstalling the game and rearranging my own cc in a way that will allow me to play mainly in historical settings. while I doubt it will affect my already sporadic content making patterns, it can take time.
I may or may not convert the Roman accessories for the sims 4. I kept the polys low and close to Maxis meshes (of the time) and it got me into a situation where it looked fine in the sims 2 but horrendous in the sims 4. the way uv is arranged is different, and I kind of suck at textures in general. maybe I need a counterpart who will fully handle the 2d part, lol. I don't think the conversions are bad, but they certainly leave something to be desired and that's not the level I strive for. I didn't enjoy working on them, it was tedious, and I felt like there already were far better alternatives.
this is why I want to work on something new instead. the requests I've received include robe volante and something something from the 17th century, so I'll probably be working on those now.

Ancient Roman necessities, TS4 version
at long last. now you can have ugly 3D sandals and shoes. NO accessories, sorry. I converted the things I was confident about. maybe later. another fair warning: the colors/brightness of my monitor seem to be all over the place, so I am not too happy with some swatches.
I haven't made anything new other than sandals, so forgive me for not going into details. some items have thumbnails. the links are below (the link to the whole folder at the bottom).
MEN
tunic: - MESH + plain bright swatches - bright swatches w/ stripes - plain muted swatches
calcei (aka the ugly shoes)
leather sandals
WOMEN
long tunic
actually, this one is not shown in the preview, so here you go:
stola
borders as an accessory (gloves) - works for long tunics and stolas
I raised the hem a bit so that tunics/stolas could be worn with shoes. shoes and sandals still clip through when walking, sorry. it's either that or no feet visible at all, and how can it be Roman if they can't show off their footwear?
short tunic
leather sandals
CHILDREN
girls' short tunic
girls' long tunic
boys' tunic - MESH + plain bright swatches - muted swatches
leather sandals
DOWNLOAD EVERYTHING FROM SFS FOLDER
as always, this was a lot of work that I was forced to take breaks from, and I might have missed some issues, so tell me if anything is amiss. enjoy if it's your cup of tea and have fun :)

to reiterate for people who are more likely to look at reblogs. if you only saw the original post and have downloaded the door: please delete it, the standalone doesn't work properly. if you experience any time-warping effects on your lot, this is why (I am sorry). I've changed the post since and made it a default replacement. please delete it and re-download HERE. I swear now it does work 100% :D
timeless unique separator door
I've seen versions without the doormat only, but the doormat doesn't bother me that much. what bothers me A LOT is all these provocatively shiny metal details looking very out of place in my Ancient Roman hood, so I got rid of them. I only left the handle and the chain lock, and made them less new and shiny.
it is not a default replacement but a STANDALONE APARTMENT DOOR. your normal unique separator shouldn't be affected. play tested, should work as intended (= you place the door, change lot zoning, and it functions as normal apartment door).
it is a DEFAULT REPLACEMENT now. all your apartment doors will be affected: no shiny metal and no doormat. the standalone version didn't work properly (took time to figure out) and resulted in time-warping effects. please re-download!
DOWNLOAD
I think it's my first time venturing into the build/buy mode EVER? anyway, I'm excited to share this but please let me know if it doesn't work as intended.

TS2 palla and pallium: texture FIX, overhead palla
super tiny post with tiny cc updates, I have very little energy as of late.
I figured out what I didn't like about the palla (other than the obvious clipping, sorry, it wasn't fixed). it's the wrong side not being properly mapped. shame on me for making it solid color. swatches were updated as well: tiny bit of texture, and small changes to the vibrancy. pallium suffered from the same problems.
DOWNLOAD FIXED PALLA
DOWNLOAD FIXED PALLIUM
and the overhead thing. this is what I wanted the palla to be like initially, because most of the images I see show it pulled over the woman's head. I wasn't feeling very ambitious then, but I feel good enough to make this modification now. works best with, umm, braided updos? swatches are same as "normal" palla.

They may not be the best-lit NPCs ever, but at least they're wearing Roman tunics. This is just a quick-and-dirty Test of Time specific default, focusing on NPCs I couldn't avoid in my gameplay. I didn't replace any of the other "clerk" outfits, like the Uni cafeteria chef or the teen and elder career outfits, since you're unlikely ever to see them - just the NPC cashiers you'll see in non-owned stores. I might do the mail carrier if anyone wants, though I have them banned in my game.
Three separate packages so you can delete any you don't want.
Download: SFS or Box
(why is my game's driver so creepy? Did they always have the fixed, demonic grin and I just never noticed?)

A drive for improvement is a good thing. Just remember that everyone has to start somewhere. Give yourself time and have patience with yourself. Strive for improvement and never grow content, but remember to love every piece you create because they are proof of your skills and progress as a creator. ❤️
thank you! this is a very constructive and helpful thought, so I'll leave it here for others to see. there is indeed no end goal or ultimate mastery, it is supposed to be a process.

Your Roman cc is so cool! But would you consider making it for the sims 4 rather than the sims 2? I've only got sims 4 and I'm dying to have more ancient civilization cc in my game!
thanks! I am already working on a ts4 version of my Roman cc, so don't worry. the problem is I am doing it VERY SLOWLY so it will take time :D

hello guys! this will be an unusual post, as I don't share much about my personal life here. earlier this month, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I'll spare the details, but I'm only 26 and this was as out of the blue as it could have possibly been. so please, listen to your bodies and take care of your health, whatever your sex, age, etc etc. to those who happen to deal with similar things - I wish you strength. I am not writing this to ask for financial or emotional support, I've got both covered (surprise, it still sucks! but anyway). I'm also not on hiatus, technically, but I'm continuing my studies and doing a lil bit of work for the university. basically, this can prove too much at any moment. I can't predict my own power levels, and I am still learning to manage this new life. I get moodswings and tire easily, so one day I'll be having a blast meshing while watching some series and the next I feel like it is the worst chore. maybe it'll get better. maybe it'll get worse. I'll try to balance it and deal with any possible requests as they come. the priority for me right now is porting my Ancient Roman stuff to ts4; if I can do it, I'll pick up the new requests. sorry, this is just how my mind works, I like to do things in order; it is also easier than making a whole ass mesh from scratch. overall, I feel sad, because I was looking forward to combining the less structured nature of the PhD studies with creating CC more regularly, and here we are. but yeah. I like the sims and I'm glad to be a part of this community.

Love your 1690’s new dress… SO BEAUTIFUL
Have you considered doing some earlier 1600’s clothing?
We really need some 1600-1620 stuff with those beautiful lace collars <3
Irregardless, thanks again for the amazing dress!
hello nonny, and thank you!
I'll honestly admit that when it comes to Europe, these aren't my favorite time periods in terms of fashion. so I don't do much research into them personally, but I'm open to fulfilling specific requests. not any time soon, probably, because I already have a request I'll be working on, but when (hopefully when and not if) it's done, I'm fair game :D

1690s mantua dress
we're back to the sims 4! it's a request-turned-collaboration, which I am pretty happy about, because it was fun.
I am the author of the mesh (9030 polys) and... only 3 swatches. sorry for breaking the immersion, but take a better look:
@denerdnr is the author of the idea, the beautiful screenshots and 14 sets of recolors, some of which are featured below (except the two on the last screenshot, these are mine).
known issues (as always):
some distortion of the central part while moving (you can see that on the CAS screenshot) - can't seem to fix that
this stray polygon I can't get rid of >:( only really visible with the selection outline or if you look very closely on SOME movements, but argh
this mesh has transparent parts and naturally won't look that good if you have transparency turned off. the download links are below, enjoy! ❤️
DL MESH + 3 SWATCHES DL RECOLOR SETS DL PSD if you want to make your own recolors conveniently
CREDITS (again, courtesy of @denerdnr; I converted what I could into at's, the rest are plain text, sorry! some might not be featured in the screenshots I picked, but the exposure doesn't hurt):

hi! the second download link for the palla doesnt work, unfortunately. it lead to a mediafire page that just endlessly claims to be generating a new download link. (the other two links work fine though)
hello nonny! thanks for pointing out. I removed the mediafire link for palla (doesn't work for me either, I can't download my own damn file) and added simfileshare links for all three accessories. SFS didn't let me upload anything at night, and all the MF links were working back then. what's wrong with all the hosting sites :/

ANCIENT ROMAN NECESSITIES. PART 3: LENGTHY WRAPS, JUST LIKE ON THOSE STATUES
WARNING: CLIPPING ISSUES. these are ACCESSORIES, so they don't have morphs and are prone to clipping through the body mesh. 1) I made them to fit the fat+pregnant morphs specifically. they might look too spacious on thinner frame in the front. 2) I have tried to reduce clipping to minimal amounts, so the issues aren't that annoying. I made these for myself, and just to be clear - I don't think they're really worth publishing. I can't promise I'll go fixing the clipping issues later, because at this point, they are a trade-off (I make one thing better and ruin the other). sitting, standing, walking, flailing arms a little bit should look fine, but download at your own risk!
toga for tm-em. we don't have a lot of variety here. ~1200 polys.
plain white is supposed to be toga virilis, white with purple borders - toga praetexta, purple with golden borders and pattern - toga picta (my best attempt at it, anyway), and dark one - toga pulla. toga praetexta is not available for teens: too old to be a child in need of protection, too young to be a senator.
clipping occasions:
DOWNLOAD (mediafire) | DOWNLOAD (SFS)
palla for tf-ef. it's rectangular and not quite as long. more variety here. 961 polys.
the morphs weirdness:
clipping occasions (older version, most still persist):
DOWNLOAD (SFS)
pallium for men, in cases toga is too formal or just doesn't fit the status. a little bit different from palla, both in terms of mesh and swatches. not perfectly happy with this one, but if you don't look closely enough, it'll do. 796 polys.
clipping occasions:
DOWNLOAD (mediafire) | DOWNLOAD (SFS)
enjoy if that's your cup of tea <3 and please, inform me if anything doesn't work as expected! accessories are a completely new territory for me.

UPDATE 13.10
updated MESHES for stola, low-waist tunic and short tunic. really sorry for not making it ok right away, I don't know where my eyes were. wasn't able to fix it completely (it's a bit hard with how walking animation is, especially on the shorter tunic), but it's significantly better.
ANCIENT ROMAN NECESSITIES. PART 2.5: FIXES
mostly QoL fixes for the things I missed. the links in the posts have been changed, new ones are included here as well, please re-download.
first of all, footstep sounds for EVERYTHING were changed to normal shoes (generic and not annoying). as it turns out, I hate the sandals sound and they're also not that floppy. and some of them I just plainly missed (heel sounds on most of the f tunics). well, won't happen again!
second, I know the game doesn't like many separate files (and stola is the worst offender), so I have made the merged recolors files. separate recolors are also still an option.
bigger fixes are listed below along with the links to sfs folders. in the folders, there is a MESH package file (you need this in any case), package files for MERGED recolors and a zip archive for SEPARATE recolors - you should choose either package files or the contents of the archive. choose the former if you want to save your time, choose the latter if you want to pick and choose or just to be able to delete the swatches separately.
cm tunic
cf longer tunic
mesh weights fixed (hem was distorting too much while walking, didn't notice somehow) - not perfect, but better
cf shorter tunic
um tunic w/ calcei/shoes
um tunic w/ sandals
uf short tunic
uf low-waist tunic
the more I look at the shoes, the less I like them. they're ugly, or at least, the color is, so I changed that. now they are dyed yellow and are a bit less ugly (yes, on all textures). I also fixed the uv/mesh a little bit around that area. now the underside assumes the color of the main tunic (not very logical sometimes but looks cleaner)
uf stola
same changes as for the tunic above
