my guild wars 2 'take' is that joko is probably the best villain the game ever handed to us. like yeah ok balthazar wanted to take over the world and the dragons wanted to eat the world. whatever. joko was hand crafted by an artisan for the express purpose of being the most irritating possible guy. him and the commander have such a dire fatalistic frenzied dynamic where its like they want to eat each other alive like two overstressed rats in a tiny cage. he is not ONLY cruel and creepy, he is also intensely stupid and furthermore has the gall to get horny about it. if he weren't a shriveled desiccated corpse with a big hat he would be this fandom's emet-selch i think.

Big fan of how much suspense and wonder and dread that part of story still gives me if i start thinking about it for more than 5 seconds. Didn't have the will to do it but... imagine mordremoth with bug eyes ok? Multitude of reflection of the commander in that one eye, it sees you and you cant' escape. Eye motif, my beloved..

Vines guide the eye of the viewer, constricting, clutching in a snare and...well... we know even the commander failed to resist for a few moments. I'm not that great at comics but i wanted to show at least this one <3

Slightly delayed posting this, but hello again! The first Saturday of a new month fast approaches, which means it’s soon time for yet another community art party hosted by [VS] Verdant Shield! Last week I ran our first ever location-selection poll, and the winner by just a teensy margin was The Grove, so let’s try out a new location in the same map!

For those not in the loop about what an art party is, they’re an idea carried over from Final Fantasy XIV - big (or small!) get-togethers for artists/writers/creatives of all kinds to hang out, chat, and create together! Get your most eye-catching outfit together, find someone else who strikes your fancy, and create! Afterwards, everyone shares their creations on social media (mostly here on Tumblr for us) using a party-specific tag (ours is #VSArtParty) so others can see and spread the love around via reblogs! The tl;dr is the same thing I’ve been saying every time I make these posts, and will continue to say ad infinitum: the ‘goal’ of an art party isn’t to be drawn, but to draw others, and share with the community!

i like when he's being awkward and adorable, but i also like when he's being weird and aggressive

I know a lot of players hated Trahearne for ‘usurping’ the player’s heroic role in a sense, and his relative sidelining approaching the end of his story is maybe something of a response to that, but I still wish we got to have a Trahearne funeral moment because EVERYONE knew Trahearne, to the point of it bordering on being funny. In the later chapters of the personal story you couldn’t throw a rock without it hitting someone who was like Oh yeah Trahearne I know that guy and owe him a favor from the time he helped me carry my groceries to the car. Everyone has their own little anecdotes about that man. I wish there was an instance with the most massive mixed crowd of attendants ever. Like a giant in the corner and a largos politely not killing everyone in the other. He was such a widely known and revered person even just among the sylvari, but the broader reach he had in the world in his just 20-something years of existence - AND as the first of the sylvari to boot, he didn’t have any cumulative knowledge of previous sylvari generations stored in the dream to consult in. He just had to wander the world on his own to understand it, and he clearly did. And then you could if you wanted sift through the crowd all day listening to all the peoples stories about how he like saved their cat from a tree or helped them banish a demon, and he will be missed.

Starting my GW2 art posting off with my favorite piece I ever made:

"Knight, Death, and the Devil"

I wanted this piece to show a narrative. It is inspired by "Knight, Death, and the Devil" by Albrecht Durer. With the Wraith of Grenth as the stand in for death, who is foreshadowing by leading the eye toward Mordremoth. Mordremoth is the Devil, who whispers promises of power. All the while, the valiant knight Trahearne is on his quest to purify Orr...unaware of the fate that will befall him.

I am once again thinking about body modification among the GW2 species

Perhaps there are asura who dock their ears, possibly for cosmetic reasons, but also maybe for combat reasons (as long ears are more likely to be damaged in battle). Asura who insert little implants under their skin that are capable of interacting with golem technology. Sylvari who perform scarification on themselves in order to create a certain pattern of glow. Charr, typically unable to get tattoos on account of all the fur, instead shave intricate designs into their fur; carving details into the ivory of their horns.

Letter Home (human x sylvari marriage confirmed!)

This book can be found during the Battle for Lion’s Arch story campaign. So cross-species marriage is now canon. How cool is that?
