Progress is finally in Full Motion
It took a good while, but we finally have all of the recordings necessary, so full work has begun in earnest.

This first preview is not fully representative of the final product. Some things are liable to change. This section is from part 2, the second-to-last chapter in it. Feedback welcome!

Preview on August 1st
The first preview of the project in progress will be on August 1st, when production will at last be well underway. Apologies for the radio silence, but the last obstacles to progress are clearing up, and the final result is in sight.

Apologies for the Infrequent Updates
The last two have only been on the official twitter, as they’ve been about covering things that are in SoPM that aren’t being covered in the project.
Still, recordings are almost done, so we’re very close to being able to move on and begin real tangible progress. Expect snippets soon.
Moreover, I’d be extremely glad to answer any questions about the project from now on.

Reimu wasn't changed much, really. Just making her dialogue a little less awkward. This is, however, a decent look into how sound effects (foley work) will end up in the final cut, since Reimu definitely has a lot of body language going on.
First image is the original, latter is the current script.

Miko's changes were... well, making her more grand, for the most part. Leaming more on larger-than-life, though we made sure to not go too far. We actually made a lot of her dialogue less conversational, because Miko doesn't do like that. All things considered, though, her dialogue is probably the closest to the original overall as far as the big three here goes.

Most of Byakuren's changes are making her dialogue conversational, but also clarifying some of the things she says, which in the original translations are very ambiguous, or just outright translated wrong, like the second Perfection here.
On the whole, excepting the outright new dialogue Akyuu has, Byakuren received the most overall work put into her. First image is the original, latter is the current script.

With Kanako, most of her changes were just making her dialogue a little more conversational, and occasionally playing up her "business god" image. We also simplified down some specific terms - referring to a specific “divine blessing” as a proper noun is unnecessary when it’s not easily explainable when it’s easily changed to more general language without losing intent or meaning. As an aside, we also changed all instances of "goddess" to "god", for consistency reasons. “Goddess” is, as a term, reserved for Hecatia in the series, now, so referring to Kanako as a “God” instead is more appropriate. First image is the original, latter is the current script.

In the original translation, the way Marisa speaks is extremely inconsistent. She starts out very casual, but as it goes on, whoever transcribed it stopped bothering. In this one, she's instead having fun pretty much the whole way through. First image is the original, latter is the current script.

Akyuu has very few lines in the original text of Symposium of Post-Mysticism, but she has a lot of things to say in the footnotes. To both give her a larger role and to keep these asides in, some dialogue has been rewritten or added in to include her musings. First image is the original, latter is the current script.

Just a brief analysis on engagement rate for each teaser video. It doesn't actually mean anything, but it was fun to do.

Reimu Hakurei teaser, the last one! Reimu is normally the protagonist of the series, but is a minor character here. What little she does do, though, is really important.

Akyuu Hieda teaser. Akyuu is the organizer, host, and scribe of this whole event, and acts as the narrator. In the book itself, she has a ton of footnotes as extra thoughts, but here many of those have been turned into dialogue.
Since Akyuu isn’t, you know, a fight in any of the games, I just have some scrolling footage from Perfect Memento in Strict Sense in the background of this one. It actually took me a full half hour to scroll through the entire book!

Miko Toyosatomimi teaser. Miko’s not really here to present any new ideas - she hasn’t been around long, so she’s mainly just here to tear down the others’, especially Byakuren’s. This was just before the peak of Miko and Byakuren’s rivalry, well before they settled down to being friendly rivals instead, after all. (If you’re wondering why I’m going with “Miko Toyosatomimi” instead of the standard “Toyosatomimi no Miko”, that’s for consistency reasons. Akyuu is also going to just be “Akyuu Hieda”.)

Marisa Kirisame teaser. Marisa is the series deuteroganist, but here she plays second (fourth?) to the trio who participated in most of the discussion itself. This one was weird to produce, as Marisa doesn’t really have a large amount of backstory, since she’s much more defined by what she does in-series.
You were probably expecting the Miko one third! She’s on her way, trust me.
