i know this is unrelated but i would like the symp community to be made aware of the terraliens situation and i'd advise not to engage in trades for terras until things clear up.

Please inform us more with further context and proof. Mods have voided and cut themselves off the Terralien server since previous incidents and are unaware.

maki and that other person insisting that their submission is a high effort work is so damn strange too me, and only solidifies a point another anon said. The final piece is already obviously sketchy as fuck and karma was halfassed to hell but it LOOKS good from a distance because of the skilled perspective and lighting. But if you checked the process that maki spammed the wip channel with you would see that they used the exact same base sketch they made as the lineart and then roughly blocked the colours, shading, and light. Maki did not go through the sketch to lineart process. I think it's fine if maki genuinely did not know how to lineart at all (which is probably a lie for an artist of that level, like, really?) but it still has to be polished to an extend. Painters who can still paint a "lineart style" exist. No one is trying to imply maki's painting is bad or zero effort, the point is the requirements of the prompt which maki admitted to not reading but continued to be snarky about it.

What really got me about that situation yesterday was the one person insisting that maki's original piece 'clearly had so much effort put into it'-

Were we looking at the same art piece? Because yea, at a glance it looks nice- but if you look closer it's just colors hastily blocked in. Especially if you look at the grass in the foreground. And the lines were not clean linework, they didn't connect in MULTIPLE places.

What might look like a gross MS Paint drawing to you may be the limit of others who are just starting out in art! I like having the requirements put in place as it gives me anxiety thinking about how my art would be judged. Have a heart!

you know what's worse? I know exactly which prompt/s maki was trying to satirize. The thing is no one is drawing prompts shittily on purpose, that's just their current art level. It's just not cool man :(

Learn then. You're meant to want to learn and grow more as an artist. Doing only painterly backgrounds stops being impressive if that's ALL you can do.

I'm not a good artist like them but couldn't maki just trace over the characters with the same thick brush they used for the outlines? It may not look the best but it could help getting accepted?? It would probably take less time compared to drawing that sarcastic piece too. Beats making up a whole fuss like that...

why are people giving feno such a hard time over the prompt rules asking for lineart. it's actually imo a good way to make it less of a grey area since "effort" is extremely subjective in terms of art. i mean, look at fucking ART FIGHT where the effort score gets constantly abused but saying anything about it will start off a whole debate about the philosophy of "EFFORT". i've also personally seen pro artists managed to scrape by with sketchier work for prompts because it looks good, but of course its all fucking subjective. putting lineart and flats as a requirement helps prevent this difficult judging issue. if you cant wrap your head around it fine but be mature about it please?

Blocking MakiNirudi from today onwards. I've always been a huge fan of their art and work in Xeros so this is a heartbreaking moment for me. Argue and make a point regarding the prompt rules all you want but it is no reason to be snide and put others down like that. I am heart-fully disappointed.

Feno and Lark are definitely my favorite CS owners. No contest. And their staff are great. Also they earned a lot of respect from me when they removed the Terraliens staff from the server. They did it with poise and professionality as well. I genuinely like how they run their service. I want to commend the team for their spectacular work.

I'm not sure if blog mods know but during the time exe was being talked about somebody made another symp venting blog specifically to be "better" than this one which was pretty funny because it obviously copied the rules from here. It's closed now but I just wanted to mention it.

Also it's interesting how there is always someone defending exe the very moment they get mentioned.

i feel like exe has been pretty quiet lately, so kind of confused on why they're still the hot topic here 😭 not that they cant be annoying but it seems they've at least toned it down and aren't as desperately chasing after fenokey's attention anymore lol

there seems to be an increasing amount of people offering pitiful amounts of cs currency in symps for art, it's insulting to an artist's effort. But I see most asking for smaller amounts of art and I'm sure they would back down once they're informed about about the general value of the currency. And definitely not ask for a ridiculous amount of art like a 3 view ref sheet and then cry and whine "but I want one" like lysander did.

Jokes on Lysander! There are very few players who do actual requests and currency comms. And the one person i can think of who might accept a job like that seems to be away. I never thought i would be glad for their absence but, i'm petty and don't want this jerk to get free art.
