Pools and drips and stains!#And all paired with delicate beautiful flowers ahh it really is the most fun - sorry DAX haha <3#The way it drips from his trunk in particular - I do like the description I've seen of VUX blood being thin but thick viscous blood too...#Poor ZEX has to be so scared seeing DAX completely covered in blood :'0 Right back to his military framework so he can deal with things#It was So fun to draw ZEX's back spines out haha#Head tendrils high and panicked - tail whipping - tongue sharp - such a fun pose#And the way he pushes out sentimentality - all business - by calling DAX by his title without his name wehhh#That's an order you better listen he's not going to repeat himself#I wonder if the Captain's ever seen his spines before! Almost certainly not at full spread#He just barely showed up and everything's gone to chaos immediately! Though he's probably used to that to a degree haha#I'm not sure how clear it is but the one where ZEX has his arm under DAX's trunk to angle it up -#DAX's blood is bubbling up from his breath :0 I wasn't quite sure how to draw it but that's what's happening haha#Ugh I love how ZEX cradles his head in that one too#One arm comfortingly stroking his head and the other keeping him angled just so#Treating him so carefully and gently hweh#And then him looking ZEX's way so if it is the last thing he sees he makes sure it's ZEX#Such a scary situation for them both! Lol#To the actual plot lol - the order of events was: The flora was shipped in and taken to quarantine where it was cleared as safe to be around#Because NEJ is at no risk of infection there were no obvious signs that it was dangerous lol#So ZEX was around the plant while setting up a new terrarium and got infected#And then spread it to DAX by flowering around him which was Weird but wasn't hurting him so???#And then DAX started flowering which Was harmful :) And now we're here!#Since it's a plant effect rather than a love-curse I can also fudge the details as much as I want lol#No no you see that's just how This particular hanahaki plants works lol#Ignore that I came up with these rules in the first place in order to play in them it's fiiiiiiineee lol#Obviously DAX is going to nag at him about not being careful enough that's like 80% of his job lol#But no ZEX did his due diligence! I only knew ZEX and I didn't want to hurt him!#I still don't haha - notice how /his/ hanahaki is still basically harmless - not so for DAX#Not because I want to hurt him either! I love DAX <3 But his would Have to manifest as much more dangerous than ZEX's#It's not an excuse to draw blood (it is) don't look at me lol#I do have justifications if you want them tho lol it's fun to think about why ♪#I mentioned in the original that ZEX's love is largely unrequited - thus the hanahaki taking root - but he would 100% confess if he could!#Personally I prefer to ascribe to the version where it's the act of confessing rather than reciprocation being what clears the roots#Then it's the onus of the one who's been hanahaki'd to stop bottling up their feelings rather than the other to be forced to accept#ZEX just so happens to be lucky in that area hehe <3 He Wants to confess!
