after a few close calls during his trek with lull kevske gets fixated on levelling up his combat skills.

he gets the opportunity to really pursue it in elona, where jezziko's been teaching priory nerds how to fight (in particular adapting traditional weapons/combat styles for nonhumans) for fun and profit. it does NOT come naturally at all but kevske's determined and jezziko has enough patience not to drop him for being a drama queen. the kiss is part of a very silly conversation about his motives.

they have a one-sided personality clash because jezziko is offputtingly (to kevske) chill and charming and not very "asura", and kevske has a lot of cultural baggage and one thousand neuroses.

jezziko taking the chance to go globetrotting with the priory has them working together again later— friend status achieved.
