Heidi Roizen is not alone coming to Steve Jurvetson’s defense. Annie Hazlehurst & Courtney McColgan also defended Steve Jurvetson and the team at DFJ. https://medium.com/@ahazlehurst/our-story-from-dfj-898ef5f317f0
The Truth About DFJ
As many of you know, in the past few days DFJ has been rocked by allegations about sexual harassment. I’d like to be fully transparent about what we know and what we are doing about it. In our entire history, DFJ has never received an official complaint alleging misconduct by anyone on our team. That said, during the summer this year, we heard about allegations of misconduct by one (and only one) of our partners from a third party. We felt the responsible thing to do was to launch an independent investigation, and so we did. It is still ongoing. In the past week, a single Facebook post also accused DFJ of having a culture that is predatory to women. I don’t need an investigation to state with certainty that this is patently wrong. I am too grizzled and old to write bullshit about a company to please my boss. I’m writing this because I believe it to be true. I value my own personal reputation and integrity above any firm, and simply put, I would not work for DFJ if I felt the culture was not one of high integrity and opportunity for all — including women. Including me. I am honored to work with a fantastic team of investment professionals and executives, many of whom are women. If you want to hear directly from us about what it’s like to work here as women in VC, feel free to email us.

And..is attention even the right thing to measure?
But, is that what we should be measuring? Does any of this even matter?
At the end of the day, you need someone to pull out their wallet and buy your stuff. Otherwise, what’s the point of it all?

Introduction to Fabric Composer by Simon Stone
Covers full stack blockchain app authoring in JavaScript
Via Simon
1. The generic chaincode interprets the JavaScript logic rather than converting it into Go code. We use a JavaScript interpreter for Go called Otto (https://github.com/robertkrimen/otto) for this. Our plan is to extend Hyperledger Fabric with Node.js chaincode support, at which point we'll be able to natively execute the JavaScript logic.
2. All transactions are invoke transactions at the moment. We are interested in adding support for query functions to the model/logic files in the future, but at present the only time query is used is when calling getAll() or get(id) using the registry client API functions.

Object based security interop - “The Elements of Decision Alignment" - Mark S. Miller, Google.
ABSTRACT: When one object makes a request of another, why do we expect that the second object’s behavior correctly satisfies the first object’s wishes? The need to cope with such principal-agent problems shapes programming practice as much as it shapes human organizations and economies. However, the literature about such plan coordination issues among humans is almost disjoint from the literature about these issues among objects. Even the terms used are unrelated. Instead, these fields have much to learn from each other—both from their similarities and from the causes of their differences. We propose a framework for thinking about decision alignment as a bridge between these disciplines.
This is joint work with Bill Tulloh.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Mark S. Miller is the main designer of the E and Dr. SES distributed object-capability programming languages, inventor of Miller Columns, a pioneer of agoric (market-based secure distributed) computing, an architect of the Xanadu hypertext publishing system, a representative to the EcmaScript committee, and one of Yedalog’s creators.
