I feared this day may come.
I’ve been slowly losing my muse with Tara, and no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to keep a spark. There are times I miss writing on here and other times I can’t even find the words to write as Tara.
I am not ready to close this blog down, but I think my activity will be very limited on here.
This does not mean that I have lost interest in you as writers or RP partners, I’m just finding it difficult to give Tara a voice right now. Once she was killed off from the show, I felt her slipping from me and that upsets me greatly as I relate to her so deeply. I’ve written her for 7 years, so it is heartbreaking to see her begin to fizzle out.
A revamp may be coming soon. Maybe starting over will ignite something.
I love you all: please reach out if you’d like to talk on dis.cord. I’m on there more than I am on here. For now I will leave my drafts alone and I may reach out in the next few weeks to see about continuing certain threads and I may drop the others. It may also be a possibility that I add her to my multi so that when she does feel like peeking out to write, she can be with the rest of the gang.
As always I appreciate your love, patience, and support.

“I think it’s a diamond.” (Sabine giving Tara a ring)

Tara looked at it, astonished. She turned the ring over in her hand to examine it before looking up at Sabine, her lips parted. She was speechless for a moment as a smile formed on her face. “It’s beautiful.” She said. “Are you… giving this to me?”

Tara smiled at the other woman. “Do you want to split it with me?” Her eyes lit up. Abby had gone through all the trouble to find it, it was the least Tara could do- and if there was anyone she would want to share it with, it was with Abby.

“How did you even find this.” Tara asked in disbelief as she turned the red box that still shined from foil in her hands. She opened the box carefully and the chocolate still looked edible. “Abby, this is incredible.” She smiled.
“Lucked out on it,” she told Tara. “I’m glad you like it. It was the only one left, and I was sure someone was going to tackle me for it if they saw it. Had to give it to you a little early.”

There was something about children that made Tara happy. Perhaps it was their never ending imagination or their enjoyment that continued to bloom even in a world like this. However, she always got along with children; whether it was her own niece or a child of a friend.
She laughed as she looked behind her, Sam with his hands up-- it was adorable. The woman took off, but kept a steadier pace, too tired to sprint. “You’ll never catch me!” She taunted over her shoulder.
t-chambler:
“Faster than Billy? Man, I better hustle then!” Tara chuckled, finding the young boy quite joyful and adorable. He certainly put her in a good mood, and that was hard to do most days, it seemed. She didn’t talk to Billy much, but the younger children seemed to think he was cooler than sliced bread.
When Sam heads off, Tara waits a moment before chasing after him. Of course her pace was much slower, she wants him to have the lead, wants him to find a small joy in this bleak world. “You’re just too fast!” Tara called after him as she pumped her legs to fall in drift behind him. She let it go on for a little while before she finally tapped his shoulder. “You’re it!”
He nodded and giggled. But Sam was already off, dashing across the dusty path. He was fast, considering his size, age, and the rather clunky rubber boots on his feet. He dodged and turned, giving her a rather sporadic chase. A few teasing pauses here and there to let her catch up a bit before dashing off again.
Finally he was tagged. And Sam slowed to a halt. Though if he was disappointed by the changed roles, he didn’t let it show. Only grinning wide, ready to chase her back, hands raised like claws. “Gonna get you!” he called, running off after Tara.

“Oh--” Tara hadn’t expected that to come out of Lee’s mouth and suddenly she was filled with questions that they didn’t have time for right now. “Cool, cool.” She said nonchalantly. “Uh, yeah- you’d be correct, that, uh-- nope, that didn’t come up at all.” She would have to have a little chat with her commanding officer over that one. “But, you saw the traces, that’s all I care about.”
She had to get over the fact that she was walking alongside a literal Robo-Cop. She felt her heart race the further and further they stepped. The sounds grew louder and she pushed aside her worry. She could be upset later, right now they had a job to do.
Tara opened the door ajar, and led with her gun. She craned her head to look between the crack and pushed forward, checking all sides of the room, even looking up and down- this maniac could be anywhere. Her heart sank when she saw the three women tied and bound to each other. It looked like one had passed out and the other two found strength to drag themselves over to a metal pipe to kick. That must have been the noise that she and Lee had heard. Still, Tara didn’t speak, she didn’t know where the killer was.
t-chambler:
Tara squinted her eyes trying to see what Lee was seeing, but she just couldn’t pick up on it. The floors were relatively clean, she didn’t notice any blood, or even foot tracks, but she would believe him. Something just kept telling her to believe him. So, she would- between her gut and his perfect eyesight (apparently) she was fairly optimistic that they were going to catch this guy.
Then her heart sank- she had a feeling that this bastard had a victim here with him. They would have to be extremely careful in this case. The killer could retaliate against them by hurting the captive. “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.” Tara said quietly as they walked side by side, her gun still raised.
Some sort of a noise could be heard behind the furthest left door. A thud, or some kind of a knocking. Tara could almost imagine the poor woman tied up doing everything she could to get someone’s attention. They were close- and she knew it.
Lee let out a quiet sigh in response to the woman’s reaction for the current moment in time. Coming to a certain realization as he prepared to quietly say something. “It seems whoever told you about me hasn’t done their job probably. They didn’t tell you about my various cybernetic enhancements, that’s how I can see the DNA traces.” The man stated.
The man then continued to walk with the woman stealth like for the current time being, nodding his head in response to her words towards him with a quiet sigh escaping him. “Same here.” If there were any victims here that weren’t dead yet, then they had to save those victims no matter what. Lee felt himself overflowing with a lot of determination for the moment.
He then also heard what the woman heard all of a sudden. Lee had a feeling that this was almost over. They were so close now, there was no doubt about that in his mind at all. He was confident. The man then prepared his combat based cybernetics for certain combat.

Tara had never imagined herself in a position like this-- and she thought she had seen the unthinkable- but, this really took the cake. She had always had it in her head that she was supposed to fight the dead, not blend in with them- not become one of them. However, it beat being on the road, or being cannibalistic- still, what this group was doing was hard to stomach, it was disgusting.
She wondered if she would ever get used to the smell of the rotting decay around her in not only the walkers, but on the living as well. They may have leathered their masks and cleaned it of blood and guts, but it was still disgusting. If Tara wasn’t so terrified of being torn open by the herd, she would have screamed, vomited, something- but, the fear of the ‘what ifs’ and the unknown gave her the strength to walk.
When they finally parted ways, and were a safe distance away, Tara couldn't help the sigh of relief that pressed past her lips. It felt like she hadn’t breathed their entire trek. She looked among the others, looking for any sign of fear- and there was… nothing. She stood up straight and composed herself.
She looked up at Beta, their eyes locking. The man of few words was asking if she was alright? A nervous smile pulled on the corner of her mouth. “Aside from that being the craziest thing I’ve ever done, I’d say I’m cool as a cucumber.”
Moving with a herd was never easy for first timers. The most comfort he could provide were the occasional gazes downward, but they were more like silent warnings to ensure that she would keep quiet and continue to follow his lead. His own decaying scent and the overwhelming sensation of rot was enough to mask her own living scent, as long as she remained silent she would remain undetected.
He didn’t need to see her face to know she was afraid. When she bumped into his shoulder he gave a subtle nudge back in more reassurance than his warning stares, though he didn’t dare look downward.
Eventually they had moved from the forest, across countless roads and an empty highway that led outward into a field that seemed to have no ending. The herd had begun to seperate now that there was more space, but the dead still wandered close beside the Whisperers. Silent hours had passed, the sun was now nearing the horizon, yet they still walked. It was odd to Beta that Alpha hadn’t yet signaled for them to split up, but he hadn’t dared question her.
It wasn’t until sundown that they finally went their seperate way from the herd, wandering in the opposite direction that it had been heading. It was becoming dark, but in the distance he could spot a few decaying structures. It wasn’t like them to settle at a place like a farm, but the nearest forest was farther away.
After ensuring that all of his people were safely together, Beta glanced down at Tara, finally speaking, “Are you alright?” he asked. He decided to show concern for her, she had at least proven herself enough for that.

“Of course. It’s in the ‘Newly Wed’ handbook.” Tara teased. She cupped her wife’s cheek and held her close for a lingering moment. “When it comes to you, Sabine, I could never be too sweet.” Her wife deserved all the affirmations and Tara wanted to make sure that she knew that.
“Good to know our daughter is an eavesdropper.” Tara put on a fake scowl as she lovingly placed a hand on Sabine’s stomach. Tara nodded with a smile. “That sounds good- just like old times.” She could still remember when they had first started dating. Being in love really made the time fly. “What do you want on your pizza?”
t-chambler:
Tara truly believed that she would never get used to this. Feeling so love and wanted. Each kiss felt like the first and she could feel the butterflies still swarming in her stomach. She knew how lucky she was to be married to Sabine, to start a family with the love of her life. Tara was certain that their Esme would be the happiest little girl in the world. This household was already filled with so much love and that only grew at the news that their family would be expanding.
Tara grinned at Sabine’s words. “Oh, stop it.” Still, she kissed Sabine happily. “But, if I look half as good as you do with our little one, I’ll be thrilled.” She rubbed the palm of her hand smoothly and gently against the side of Sabine’s bump. “Man, I’ll miss our alone time, but I can’t wait to meet our little girl.”
@solarsought
“I have the most beautiful wife in the world of course I have to say these things.” Sabine says with a smile before leaning in to give her wife a sweet kiss. She laughs pressing her forehead against Tara’s forehead. “Now you’re the one being too sweet.” She could relax into that touch so gentle and loving.
It must have woken up Esme because she can feel her squirming around in there. “I think she heard you talking about her.” She teases before putting her hand on the other side of the bump letting out a content sound. She was excited to meet their daughter but she agreed knowing she would miss their alone time. “How about we have a nice alone night we can get some pizza and watch a movie just enjoy some of our last bit of free time.”

"Is alcohol a good Valentine?" (from Charley)

Anniversaries, birthdays, holidays were all different in this new world, but they made it work-- all in all, it meant more these days. Time spent together, handmade gifts. It took the commercialized notion out of it all and Tara appreciated that aspect more.
She smiled when Charley approached her, she had been missing her all day, and she was usually sick with worry if the other woman went on a supply run while Tara had to stay behind the walls- but, they always made it back to each other. She had been watching Sam color and hum to himself for a good half hour, he was focused on whatever creation he was drawing.
“Is alcohol a good Valentine?” Charley asked and Tara rose a brow.
“Well, it’s not as good as you.” Tara said, standing from her chair to wrap her arms around the woman. “But, since I already have you- I suppose, it’s a fantastic gift.” She beamed. “Also, considering I haven’t drank in years, my tolerance is very low, so, I’m sure whatever bottle you got will go a long way.”
Charley pulled away from Tara just enough to retrieve the bottle of red wine from her satchel. She smiled at Tara as she revealed it.
Tara’s eyebrows rose. “Red wine for a valentine.” She clicked her tongue, impressed. “I must say, Charley, you’ve outdone yourself.” She kissed her sweetly, cupping her cheeks. “After we put the cutie pie to bed, we’re going to have a great time.” She promised. “I’ll even get out the fancy glasses.”
“Fancy glasses?” Charley asked, amused.
“Fancy glasses for a fancy wine for my fancy lady.” Tara mused.
“I love you, goofball.” Charley said.
“I love you, too.” Tara grinned, officially notating this as the best Valentine’s day even in her mind.

“I wouldn’t hold your breath.” Tara said, determined not to grow fond of her. Tara had been guilty before of befriending those she shouldn’t have, and she feared that this woman could coax her down the same path. She wouldn’t allow herself to be cruel or rude to these inmates- but, that’s who they had to remain; inmates.
“Then I’ll follow your own advice and choose not to trust you either.” However, the warden did put a bad taste in Tara’s mouth.
@t-chambler - continued thread
Harley grinned at Tara, her eyes wildly watching her. She knew that Tara was put off by her, maybe a bit scared even. “What’s wrong? You’re not scared of me are ya?” She gave a mock pout, turned into a wide set grin. “I used to be a psychiatrist ya know… I know all the little ticks a person does.” She said tapping her head. “What was Mister J like? Did he try ta bite ya?” She giggled. “Oh I miss him… It’s not fair you keepin’ us apart in here. I will find a way back to him.” She shrugged lightly, hands on the bars, “It’s inevitable.” Her words dark, but almost in a sing-song voice, foreshadowing what might happen here in Arkham.
