so the first screenshot is trying to look this up on tiktok normally, "donald trump rigged election" and it says that search violates community guidelines.
the second screenshot is looking up the same exact thing, but with a (australian) vpn on. canadian vpn didn't fix it fyi.
THIS is exactly the type of censorship to be looking out for on tiktok. this actually is crazy.

I saw her standing by the side of the road four weeks ago as I rode past. I thought Iwas imagining it. But even for me, that would have been imagining things on a super-overdrive. She did actually have a framed picture of David Lynch. Usually I have seen women carrying a small statue or framed picture of one of the numerous gods to ask money for. I roamed around and asked for her whereabouts. After four weeks, we finally met. She, and a few other women from the same village does this for work. When they need a framed picture of a god, they go to a local framing shop and ask if there is one that the customer never came back to collect. For some reason, she chose this one of a white god this time, she said "Which god is he ?" She asks me at the end of our meeting and chat as I walked her back to her bus stop. "The one that has made some of the most beautiful things in the recent years, unlike the others" I said - Tanmay Saxena

The South Carolina Historical Society puts on an annual winter lecture series, and the theme this year is "Untold Stories of the American Revolution." The first lecture of the series will be "Vicious and Immoral: Homosexuality, the American Revolution, and the Trials of Robert Newburgh" presented by John G. McCurdy on February 11, 2025. This lecture speaks right to my special interests, and I'm sure many of you would be interested in attending the lecture too. You can register for this lecture and other lectures in the series here (both in-person and livestream options available). Other lectures in the series include "The Tory's Wife: A Woman and Her Family in Revolutionary Carolina," "A Promised Land: Jewish Patriots, the American Revolution, and the Birth of Religious Freedom," and "Revolutionary Blacks: Discovering the Frank Brothers, Freeborn Men of Color, Soldiers of Independence." It's certainly a great lineup of topics and speakers this year!
Surprisingly, I had never heard of John McCurdy or his works prior to this lecture announcement. It appears that his lecture will be based on his recent book of the same name. I've just started reading the book myself and have been enjoying it so far. It is interesting and refreshing to see a discussion of queer history so specifically framed in the context of the American Revolution. John McCurdy previously talked about this book at the Museum of the American Revolution, and you can watch that presentation here. He has a few other publications, including a book titled Citizen Bachelors: Manhood and the Creation of the United States. I've picked this one up as well but haven't had the chance to read it yet. I'm certainly excited to have found some new books that discuss sexuality and gender in late 18th century America.

Thank you @pingskumonium for this lovely artwork of Laurens and Kinloch! It's a gorgeous piece that feeds my ongoing Laureloch obsession.
Check out their commission information if you're interested in commissioning a work for yourself!

People have written a lot of touchy-feely pieces on this subject but I thought I’d get right to the heart of the matter

i love you visible brushstrokes. i love you glue warped scrapbook pages. i love you awkward poems. i love you junk journal with faded receipts. i love you poorly composed journal layout. I love you unintentionally blurry photographs. i love you asymmetrical beading. i love you curling freeform crochet. i love you fingerprints on pottery. i love you reused materials. i love you improvised instruments. i love you mistakes. i love you bravery to make it anyway. i love you creativity that hasn't been wiped clean of every drop of humanity and sanitized and commodified.
