The Atlanta Falcons lost their season opener to the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, 18-12. It’s not exactly surprising — in fact, it kind of looked like the NFC Divisional Round the two teams played this past January. Not exactly great for those of us cheering for the bird team wearing red, black, and white.

On the Falcons’ first drive, OutKast rapper Big Boi — much like the rest of us — wasn’t pleased with the conclusion. The drive ended up being a fourth down stop and turnover on downs in the Eagles’ favor.

Big Boi asked a valid question, and referenced Ludacris’ “What’s Your Fantasy?” in the process. Mind you, he’s cooler than a polar bear’s toenails:

Big Boi was right. The Falcons came away with zero points, and — in hindsight — probably should have went for t’ree. The t’ree wasn’t going to be the game-winner in the 18-12 game. But the Falcons could have kicked a field goal instead of going incomplete to Julio Jones later in the game for the second time in nine months to make it an 18-18 game had they actually kicked for t’ree.

So instead of having a chance to tie and extend the game, they had no option but to repeat history and send fans to the bottle.

The Falcons’ offense was a thing of beauty in 2016. For all the bullshit Falcons fans have had to watch since the team’s inception in 1966, 2016 was great for most of the regular and postseason, except the last ~21 minutes of the Super Bowl. If they weren’t blowing teams out, a comeback was never inconceivable.

That seems like a long time ago, especially ever since the latter part of the third quarter on February 5, 2017 and Kyle Shanahan’s subsequent departure.

Since then, Steve Sarkisian has been running the offense, and things haven’t been the same. Spend five minutes looking at the sadness that is Falcons Twitter and you’ll become well acquainted with how fans feel about Sark. Hint: it’s not good!

So hey, if Big Boi has thoughts on how the offense should be run, people should listen. He’s part of the best hip hop duo of all-time. If you disagree, well, you’re just wrong.

That ain’t great!

I’m not a big Math Guy, but five trips in the red zone could be maximized at 35 points with successful extra points. The Falcons got nine, which certainly isn’t good. Also, having Big Boi as the offensive coordinator sounds hilarious and something that only the city of Atlanta could — and should — accomplish.

Not all the blame will, or should fall on Steve Sarkisian. Quavo and Matt Ryan will tell you that perhaps Matt Ryan didn’t play well enough. There were also injuries to the defense in intervals throughout the night to Keanu Neal, Takk McKinley, Desmond Trufant, and Deion Jones.

There were a lot of things that happened on Thursday night. It’s easy to overreact, especially as a fan of this particular franchise. There’s been no shortage of bad things to happen.

But for a creative like Big Boi, and in a 16-game season, I’m willing to pass him the sticks to the offense for a game. If I’m picking a single game, it’s gotta be either at the Browns on November 11, or at the Buccaneers on December 30.

Big Boi helped make some of the most influential albums in hip-hop history. So he can take a swing as the Falcons’ offensive coordinator.

One could forgive him for a poorly called game because of his hip-hop influence. And if not, you just don’t appreciate good music — and I can’t help you there.
