How to build your first fursuit head for ~$100 USD (2023)
Tumblr media
What’s good furries? I’m sure a lot of you have a fursona and want to make your first fursuit. I recommend starting with a partial just in case you mess up or fall out of the hobby. It’s also less expensive!
This tutorial will only cover the head. I haven’t made any of the other stuff and I’m probably going to buy it online premade because I’m lazy.
1.) Have a reference sheet for your fursona.
If you are an artist, draw (the best you can) a reference sheet of your fursona from the front, side, and back. I made a little turnaround animation for mine, but this is not necessary.
Not an artist? Don’t want to draw? Commission someone to do it for you. I recommend Etsy, but you can find furry artists with open commissions all over the internet.
No money for commissions? You might be out of luck. Ask a friend or draw it the best you can. Alternatively, you can edit someone else’s fursona reference sheet to make it look like your fursona. Yeah, it’s stealing. Just don’t post it and act like it’s yours 👍
You can also go into the Roblox game, Catalogue Avatar Creator, and assemble something that looks kind of like your fursona. Take a screenshot of it from the front, side, and back, then go into a photo editor (I recommend IbisPaint or MediBang Paint, they are both free) and add in your special details.
I recommend not making your first fursuit super complicated or some kind of rare species. But you do you. It will just be really hard.
Also determine what style of fursuit you want. Toony? Kemono? Realistic? (I don’t recommend realistic for your first fursuit but you do you). This will be important later.
2.) Find Shit to Build It With
Once again, I recommend Etsy. You’ll need:
+ all the fur colors you need (try 2-3)
+ eye mesh
+ 3D printed mask
+ hot glue gun and hot glue sticks (dollar store)
+ needle and thread (dollar store or Walmart)
+ balaclava
+ styrofoam head
+ fabric scissors
+ extra foam pieces for ears or horns
Assemble all of that. It should be around $80-120 USD.
Your 3D printed mask is the most important thing. Another reason to get a relatively common species. Mine was a dragon. Remember the fursuit style you picked earlier? Search on etsy “3d printed [style] [species] furry mask” and you should be able to find one. You can also get pre-made foam heads. I don’t recommend trying to make your own head base, because A) it’s hard and B) those materials cost more money.
This shit will take a while to come in so don’t get too excited about it. My mask took like a month because it came from Germany.
3.) Mark the Color Spots on your Head Base
Basically just take a sharpie and outline the different color regions on your headbase. You can also use a pencil if you’re a pussy /j
4.) Uhhhh Eyeball That Fabric Pattern and Hot Glue the Pieces to Your Headbase
Some people use duct tape to make a pattern. That did not work for me! So I eyeballed it. Made some mistakes. That’s okay.
5.) Trim Down the Fur Length
Most people use clippers for this but I didn’t want to buy any and I didn’t know how to use them so I did it VERY CAREFULLY with scissors.
6.) Fill in the Cracks Between Your Hot Glue Seams With Loose Fur
Look at all this damn fur on the floor! If only there was something to do with it!
Put hot glue between the super visible seams where you hotglued different pieces of fabric next to each other, then pack in some of that loose fur. Cut it down if it’s too long. The seams will be less visible.
7.) Hot Glue the Eye Mesh Behind the Eye Holes
VERY CAREFULLY hot glue this so your character isn’t cross-eyed. You can try follow-me eyes but I didn’t do that with mine.
8.) Add Your Extra Details
You know like whiskers or plastic teeth or a tongue or anything else you want to put on there.
Now you’re done with the mask part.
9.) CAREFULLY Hot Glue Your Balaclava to the Inside of the Mask
The eye hole should be where your eye mesh is so that you can see out. Also make sure some of the balaclava is glued to the top of the mask.
10.) Weigh Down Your Styrofoam Head With a Heavy Rock
Or put it on a stand. Or hot glue it to the table. Whatever works.
11.) Put the Balaclava that you Glued to the Mask on the Styrofoam Head
Pretty simple. The reason we weighed down the styrofoam head is because the front of your mask will be heavy and make it fall over while you’re trying to work.
12.) ????? Put Fur On the Balaclava
You’ll also need to like add some fur connecting the sides of the mask to the balaclava. Hard to explain. You’ll probably figure it out?
13.) Trim that Fur and Put the Trimmings in the Seams Like Before
14.) Take it off of the Styrofoam Head
You may need to cut a slit in the back of the neck of your fursuit head. Not only will it help get the styrofoam head out, now your head can get in and out too!
15.) Put it on
Edit it if something is wrong. It might feel crooked but it’s probably not.
16.) Enjoy!
Hopefully this was helpful! This is how made mine.

All about dogs: dog care
If you're going to groom your dog, go to online pet and pet supply stores and ask for some basic grooming tools.
If your dog is short haired, a curry brush / comb or curry brush is fine. Long-haired dogs need a softer brush, a pin brush and, if they shed, a hair rake. You also get parting tools and blades that make it easy to remove loose hair.
You may also need a flea comb to detect fleas, especially if you've been around other dogs. Your pet store has all kinds of flea remedies.
Start brushing your dog from the earliest age possible so that he really gets used to it. If you have an older dog who is not used to brushing, be very gentle and sensitive with him. Let him know your dog grooming tools before you even touch him with them. Cherish and reward him constantly.
Even if your dog goes to a doghouse to get groomed, you need to get him used to the process before he is handled by strangers.
True short-haired dogs may not need to be brushed more than once a month, unless they end up in mud or a very dirty environment. Long-haired dogs generally need to be brushed every week. If your long-haired dog spends a lot of time in your home, he may even want to brush him daily to prevent hair loss on his carpets.
Brush a little every day and before you know it, you will love the experience. Many dogs get excited and jump expectantly when you pull out their grooming tools.
You will also need clothing, paper towels, and cotton to clean your eyes, ears, and anal areas. You can go to YouTube or your local pet store to find out how to remove the anal glands. This must be done otherwise it can cause constipation and discomfort and even infection.
If your dog hasn't developed plaque in years, you can clean it up yourself with a toothbrush and toothpaste, wipes, or a dog brush glove specially developed for dogs. Most dogs prefer toothbrush wipes or glove to put a brush in their mouth.
If not, take him to a vet to have him cleaned the first time. After that, you should be able to clean them yourself. It is estimated that up to 80% of dogs have tooth decay and gum disease.
A great way to avoid this is to give your dog a special dog bone. My dogs just bury them! But if you dip them well in a tasty sauce and then freeze them, they will chew well! Some people give their dogs frozen large bones, but be careful, even large bones can crumble and cause blockages. Really huge ostrich bones are available in some countries.
You have to trim his nails and you need a dog nail clipper. If you take your dog for long walks regularly, you may not need to trim his nails. Paved or asphalt roads, in particular, keep the nails nice and short. If you cut them, try taking too little instead of too much until you have more experience.
Note that if the dog's nails are allowed to grow long, the quick or live part will appear to lengthen as well. So cut a little each week until they are normal length.
If you have very matted hair, it may be necessary to cut the thick mats with dull scissors.
When bathing your dog, use a special dog shampoo and, if possible, a dog dryer. Common hair dryers can cause burns, so be careful when using them. Dogs have to get used to this gradually as most dogs hate them at first. When it's hot, a towel is enough.
Be careful though, dogs tend to look for the dirtiest spot to eat a sandwich after a bath. I like to take my dog for a long walk so he can dry off well and forget to roll.

Basic Grooming Tips From A Dog Grooming Professional
Do you have a new puppy or rescue dog and want to learn some basic grooming? Maybe you’re tired of paying groomers and want to try grooming your dog at home. Whatever the case may be, I was a dog groomer for more than 12 years, and now I’m a writer who grooms her dog at home. I have a lot of experience to share, and I hope to help with just the basics here – the all-important when, why, and how – as well as addressing some of the difficulties faced by most people new to the dog grooming world.
Also Check:- Catchkaro
Basic Grooming
The most important thing to remember is that you want your dog to enjoy – or at least not hate – the grooming process. Start slowly, with one thing at a time, and be sure to give your dog plenty of treats during and after each task.
For the part your dog hates the most (usually the blow dryer), I would suggest you save your dog’s favorite treat and ONLY give it to them after you’re done. You will find they have the motivation to tolerate that part of the process because they know their favorite treat is coming and that’s the only time they get to enjoy it.
I just rescued my dog a few months ago, and he hates the entire grooming process, so I break things up into smaller pieces and do everything over several days. On day one, I’ll trim his nails, brush him, and maybe shave his potty areas. The next day, I’ll give him a bath, which he REALLY hates. Then I do the full haircut the next day, leaving just the feet and more difficult to reach places for the following day. Breaking the grooming process up into several different sessions has been a lifesaver; it truly makes it more tolerable for him.

Nails
Nail trimming is one part of grooming that every dog needs. Long nails can cause problems walking, arthritis, and the nail can even curve into the pad of the dog’s foot. Imagine how uncomfortable it must be to have something poking your foot ALL the time and how painful each step must be!
In general, you should plan on trimming your dog’s nails once a month. Some dogs will need more- or less-frequent nail trimming.
For example, large dogs that walk on sidewalks or asphalt more than an hour every day often wear down their nails and need little trimming apart from their dew claws (that’s the little claw halfway up the side of the paw). Small dogs tend to go for shorter walks and need nail trimming every couple of weeks.
As you may already know, dogs have a vein in their nails called a quick that will bleed and hurt if you cut it too short. In dogs that don’t get their nails cut frequently enough, the vein can grow very long, so you can only take a little bit off at a time. If that’s the case, you should trim a little bit off your dog’s nails every week to encourage the vein to shrink back into the nail. A grinder is best for this.
If you use dog nail clippers, the easiest way to cut your dog’s nails is to position your dog in a way where you can flip their paw back and look at the underside. Trim a little bit at a time.
In dogs with white nails, you can see the quick inside the nail and know where to cut. For black nails, cut off a little bit at a time. You will see a tiny black dot surrounded by white when you get close to the quick. That’s how you know to stop.
Nail grinders are a great way to get your dog’s nails short and smooth with less risk of cutting the quick. Nail grinders can be loud, so you may need to introduce it to your dog slowly. Use the same process to take off a little bit at a time until you see the dot in the middle of the nail showing that you’ve gone short enough.
You can purchase styptic powder and keep it handy to stop bleeding if you trim a nail too short. In a pinch, you can use flour or cornstarch to stop the bleeding.
Brushing
Every dog needs at least occasional brushing. Yes, even your short-haired dog. Most short-haired dogs shed at least a little bit. Using the right brush can remove loose hair and spread your dog’s natural oils through his coat for a healthy shine.
Every coat type requires different brush types, and you should have a metal comb for most coat types. Ideal brushes for each coat type include:
Coat TypeBest BrushAlternate Brush
Very Short Hair

Rubber Curry Brush
Bristle Brush

Teeth
Did you know that 80% of dogs have periodontal disease or other dental problems by the time they’re 3 years old? Gum disease is no small matter – it can lead to teeth falling out, abscesses, a broken jaw, heart disease, or even death. That’s right, the bacteria from your dog’s bad teeth can get into their bloodstream and kill them.
You should aim to brush your dog’s teeth every day. If you’ve never brushed your dog’s teeth before, you need to start slowly. Let them sniff and lick the dog toothpaste first (NEVER use human toothpaste), then put the toothpaste on your finger and rub it on the outside of your dog’s teeth. Work your way up to a finger toothbrush and then a dog toothbrush.
For dogs that refuse to let you brush their teeth, there are dental sprays and tooth wipes that can help a little bit. It’s also a good idea to give your dog access to plenty of things to chew on.
https://www.catchkaro.info/2020/05/dog-grooming.html
Bath
Some people never wash their dogs, and some people wash them every week. Ideally, you should aim for something in the middle.
Even short-haired dogs benefit from a bath a few times a year to remove dirt, grime, and excess grease from their coats. Most dogs should be bathed at least every 1-3 months.
Generally, you should try not to bathe your dog more than once a month. If you do, be sure to use a very gentle shampoo made specifically for dogs. Hypoallergenic or oatmeal shampoos are great choices. Overwashing can dry out your dog’s skin and coat, so using a conditioner in addition to a gentle shampoo is a good choice.
No matter how often you bathe your dog, you should always use a shampoo made specifically for dogs. Humans have a different pH than dogs, so human shampoo (even baby shampoo) is too harsh for dog skin.
If you have anything other than a short-haired dog, you should be sure to brush and detangle your dog before the bath. Water makes mats and tangles worse, even if you use conditioner. There are a few exceptions if you have the right tools and knowledge, but trust me when I say you should leave that to the professionals. Brush, trim or shave mats out before washing your dog.
Remember to gather everything you need before you start the bath. That includes cotton balls in your dog’s ear canals to prevent water from getting in, which can lead to an ear infection.
Dogs don’t like the slippery feeling of a sink or bathtub under their feet, so use a bath mat or a towel to give them some traction.
Use lukewarm water. Dogs don’t enjoy hot baths the way people do. Invest in a flexible sprayer attachment if you can – I can tell you from experience that trying to rinse a dog with only a cup is a pain!
When you get your dog wet, start at their back end and work your way forward toward their head. Would you like it if somebody sprayed your face without warning?
As you soap them up, do the same thing and start at their back end and work your way to their face. CAUTION: Many shampoos can damage your dog’s eyes! Be careful to avoid getting shampoo in their eyes, even as you rinse it out. It’s also a good idea to put a bit of saline solution in your dog’s eyes after the bath to rinse out any shampoo that may have gotten in their eyes.
Personally, I use a separate shampoo for my dog’s face than I do for the rest of his body. Something that is super gentle on the face and helps loosen stubborn eye gunk and goop.
Rinse, rinse, and rinse again. When you think you have all the shampoo out, rinse for an additional couple of minutes. It’s too easy to accidentally leave a little shampoo in your dog’s coat, which can cause, at best, unattractive dander flakes, and at worst, skin irritation or infections. Not good.
If you use a hair dryer on your dog, make sure to use a cool setting. Dogs can overheat very easily. Heated dryers also dry out the skin.
https://www.catchkaro.info/2020/05/dog-care-complete-guide.html
Ears, Eyes, And Paws
You should clean out your dog’s ears at least once a month. You can use an ear cleaner made for dogs or witch hazel on a cotton ball. It’s natural to see a little bit of dirt on the cotton ball after swiping the inside of your dog’s ear, but if the cotton ball comes out gunky or stinky, your dog likely has an ear infection and needs a trip to the vet.
Dogs in general and flat-faced breeds, in particular, are prone to eye problems. At least once a week, you should take the time to look at your dog’s eyes. They should be bright and clear with no cloudiness and minimal redness. Tears should be clear. If your dog has colored discharge coming from their eyes (different from the reddish-brown goop that can accumulate from normal tears), they need to go to the vet to check for an infection, injury, or allergies.
Many dog breeds have hair that grows in the corner of their eyes. This needs to be trimmed regularly to prevent it from growing long enough to irritate your dog’s eyes. You can trim it using round-tipped shears, clippers with a #10 blade, or small electric trimmers.
If this makes you uncomfortable, it’s time for a trip to the groomer. If you feel comfortable doing the rest of your dog’s grooming at home, some groomers will accept walk-in appointments for just an eye trim. Call ahead and ask.
Most dogs grow hair between the pads on the bottoms of their feet. When this hair gets long, it can collect pesticides, sidewalk salt, and debris. With dogs that have continuously-growing hair, the hair can become matted and cause painful lumps.
You can use scissors (very carefully!) or trimmers to cut the hair flush with your dog’s paw pads. Don’t dig down between the paw pads because it’s very easy to nick your dog.
Trimming
I could write a whole article on giving your dog a full haircut at home, but here are a few basics to keep in mind:
Even the best professional groomers nick dogs from time to time, so be prepared for the possibility that you may injure your dog. Moving animals plus sharp scissors and clipper blades are a scary combination.
Keep clipper blades flat against the skin. Be especially careful at skin edges like the edges of the ears, armpits, and the area where the back legs meet the body.
Clipper blades WILL GET HOT. Using attachment combs helps keep the blade away from your dog’s body, but if you are using a blade against your dog’s skin (especially a #10 blade), it will get hot, no matter what the manufacturer promises. Keep blade coolant handy and frequently touch the clipper blade to the inside of your forearm to see how hot it is.
Use the right equipment suitable to your dog. We have an extensive guide on choosing the correct dog grooming clippers that should point you in the right direction.
Go slowly. Rushing leads to accidents
When in doubt, a visit to a professional groomer is usually cheaper than a trip to the vet

However, when you start shopping around, you discover There Are a Great Deal of different models how do you narrow down your hedge trimmer selection
There are essentially just 3 things you want to consider: 1) Battery Power, 2) Size of Blade, and 3) Cutting Capacity.
Blade dimensions: Blade sizes fluctuate significantly from 13 to 40 inches but 26-inch blades can cut branches up to inches broad and are sufficient for most tasks. Extension should you need to reach tall shrubs or hedges, invest a bit more and find a hedge trimmer with a telescoping pole to extend your reach.
Battery life: Batteries have greatly improved lately, and electric hedge trimmers now have up batteries to 80 volts. For optimal battery life, look for lithium ion batteries and think about getting an extra battery pack to help you make it through larger jobs. .
Who makes the finest battery-powered hedge trimmer these days There;s a whole lot of thought which goes into answering a question such as this, and it boils down to a great deal more than the specs and attributes from a producers website.
Cordless Hedge Trimmer Buyers Guide
Lately, a cordless hedge trimmer has been one of the simplest tools to move from petrol to battery. There;s been enough electricity since near the start there.
Essentially, a hedge trimmer is a cousin to a reciprocating saw, but on a Lance Armstrong nutritional supplement program. The blades reach out mostly from the 20 24 range with a few exceptions and they’re a bit milder. .
These tools can create a good deal of weight and vibration can be a killer. Its one thing if each hedge around your residence is at waist level. The reality is that we frequently have to cut at shoulder length or greater and the weight could be a killer after just a couple of minutes. .
We just wrapped up a thorough look at 10popular models targeting homeowners up to commercial Experts. You’ll want to check the results out.

An excellent hedge trimmer is an excellent tool. With no cable to watch out for and no gas to blend, the very best battery powered hedge trimmers are fast becoming the most popular choices for home owners in 2020.
Having the perfect battery managed trimmer can help you actually enjoy trimming tress, your own shrubs, and hedges. Ill show you exactly what you want to think about when you’ll see my best picks.
If you’re reading this particular post, you’ve determined that you are officially finished with mixing gas and smelling fumes. You’re done with paying someone or utilizing hedge clippers for hours ELSE to look after your landscape needs. You’re ready for something light, effective, sharp, and yet, powerful.
Lets begin with the biggest and probably most crucial consideration: the battery. Its what makes your tool operate, after all, so youd better be happy with it. A few notes :
Tools operated that you purchase require batteries, and it includes a charger when you buy one.
You’ll see 2 distinct sets of numbers on the battery: Ah and V. Ah basically refers to the total amount of amperage (current) that the battery delivers in a 1 hour time frame. A higher number means a higher energy charge.
You need both the Ah and also the V to Get the Watts. And what’s a Watt Again in terms, its the size of this fuel tank that is battery’s. A larger gas tank (with energy being the fuel), the higher the energy you can know the battery has.
Unfortunately Watts they generally list Ah and V is not listed by the companies. You want to compare the Watts if you want to compare the strength of different batteries.
In this example, you can see Battery B includes a higher energy capacity than Battery A. This means that you can in theory anticipate Battery B to operate the hedge trimmer almost 4x as long as Battery A, OR that Battery B could the hedge trimmer 4x faster or with more power than Battery A for the identical length of time. (See more.) .
All this is great to understand, especially if you are wanting a battery powered trimmer with an extremely powerful, powerful battery which will keep you working longer between recharging. But not everyone will need the most powerful battery as not everyone will be doing the same chores with it. Don’t believe you want to get the best (which comes of course with a high price tag) if you’re not going to be using it regularly. .

Best Dog Clippers for Cocker Spaniel 2019
Cocker spaniel make great friends. They are alert, lively, and smart. These outgoing pooches even seem to have a sense of humor.
Unfortunately, they have lots of hair and shed. This means their hair falls out most of the time. He will leave fur on your upholstery and carpet if he is not properly groomed and clipped.
Clipping a cocker spaniel takes a lot of time and effort. But you can make the process easier with the best dog clippers for a cocker spaniel.
Choosing the most effective clipper for your cocker spaniel can be challenging, especially if you have no experience with dog clipping.
Hopefully, our unique and informative product reviews and buying information will help you make a profound purchasing decision.
What Kind of Clipper is Suitable for Cocker Spaniel?
When it comes to dog clippers, you are basically paying for clipping power as well as comfort. Different brands claim to deliver superior cutting power.
It is important when choosing a clipper for your cocker spaniel to feel the weight and comfort of the hold in your hand when using it.
With that said, here are the main factors that we insist you take into consideration.
Motor Speed & Power
When clipping your cocker spaniel, the clipper should cut smoothly through the coat. For this to happen, you need a clipper with powerful speed. Speed is normally determined by strokes per minute (SPM).
Most professional clippers deliver high SPM and a lot of power, but high speed unavoidably creates more vibrations along with needless noise.
High SPM normally leads to hotness, which can cause clipper burns. We recommend a product with medium SPM and torque.
The best dog clippers for cocker spaniel are also available in single speed, two speed, or variable speed. Choose a speed that is ideal for your clipping expertise and experience.
Corded and Cordless
Cordless clippers come with a built-in battery that requires charging whenever it is depleted. This is a suitable choice for planned or infrequent grooming sessions.
The most resourceful feature of cordless electric trimmers is portability and flexibility. You can choose to groom your cocker spaniel indoors or outdoors without worrying about the cord length.
However, there are a few demerits. First, you need to recharge the battery every time it runs out. Second, the lack of additional speed settings, which can be a problem when cutting through a dense coat.
Corded clippers provide a constant speed and power without slowing down. You do not have to worry about a depleting battery or reducing speed.
The motor of a corded clipper gets the power it needs to cut through a dense coat. In fact, most corded models feature variable speed settings, allowing you to adjust the speed with respect to the coat’s thickness.
Size and Weight
Clipper size doesn’t refer to the unit size, but the blade size. It is the blade size that determines how easy or difficult you can clip the coat of your cocker spaniel.
The blade sizes range from #3 to #50. We recommend a size #7 for summer clipping and a size #10 for under tail, hind legs, and stomach areas.
But you should consider a smaller size (such as #4 or #5) for a winter cut. You can consider a higher blade size when clipping denser areas, such as #15.
Also, consider the weight. A lightweight model is easy to maneuver, especially when dealing with longer grooming periods.

Why Clipping Blades Get Hot?
There are a number of reasons why your clipping blades will get hot.
High Motor Speed
Heavy-duty motors deliver powerful motor power and superior SPM, but the result is friction and noise. The continuous friction between the blades will cause them to overheat.
Lack of Oil
The lack of oil between the blades and the adjoining parts lead to excessive friction. As a result, the blade will heat up and cause clipper burns on your dog’s coat.
Dull Blades
Not only will dull blades lead to poor grooming results and loss of time, but they will also get too hot. You should either sharpen or replace dull blades immediately.
A Dirty Dog
You should consider washing your dog if he is dirty before you use the clippers. A dirty coat will wear out the edge of the blades, causing them to heat up.
Expert Tips for Clipping a Cocker Spaniel
Avoid Cheap Products
There are many cheap dog clippers that can do wonders on your cocker spaniel’s coat. However, they come with a number of shortcomings and one of them is getting hot too fast and clipper burns.
Choose a product that will not only yield excellent results but will be comfortable for both you and your dog. The best dog clippers for cocker spaniel should have a range of detachable blades.
Groom Your Pooch before Clipping
You may not find it necessary, but it is advisable to groom your doggie before clipping. This way, you will be able to get rid of any mats and tangles.
Using the Clippers Skillfully
When using a clipper, you need to practice moving your wrist and arm in a wide range of angles. This way, you can use the device to clip not only his body but also delicate parts, such as the groin and ears.
When holding the clipper, try to keep your thumb on top. This will minimize the strain on your wrist. Keep your hand fairly low down and spread your fingers to balance the weight easily.
You should never force the blades through the coat, but allow the clipper to do the work. Always keep the blade flat on the coat and do not dig the blade in, as this may cause clipping ridges and possible damages to the skin.
While clipping, you must remain aware of the temperature of the blades as they can get hot very quickly, especially in the summer.
Additional Accessories
Make sure you have a pair of scissors for grooming sensitive areas. Choose a pair that is comfortable to use. You should also have a comb and a slicker brush that are suitable for dense coats.
Conclusion
You can only achieve the best clipping results if you have the best dog clippers for cocker spaniel. You will be surprised at the cost saving if you buy the right stuff.
Don’t go out there and buy the cheapest model. You may curse yourself when you get the worst results because the blades are not the right size and sometimes not sharp.
Clippers must be oiled and greased inside regularly. It is also convenient to have a number of blades and guide combs, of different sizes, for your dog clippers.
Clippers should never be dropped, and they should not be stored in a damp environment. And always brush the loose hair away from the moving parts on a regular basis.

cage heaven ferret cages If you are going to get a ferret you should know a little bit about them and how to take care of them. Taking care of ferrets, although not easy, is definitely a joy for ferret lovers. It is extremely important to prepare a schedule so that you may take care of them well. A well-planned schedule will allow for proper feeding, grooming and sanitary conditions for their living space.
The ferret is commonly misunderstood to be part of the rodent family when instead they are really belonging to the "Mustelid Family." Other members of the Mustelids are the weasel, badger, mink, otter and wolverine. Ferrets are ultradian animals, which means they are extremely active for short periods of time and then they require long periods of rest.
The basic daily care that you will need to give your ferret is crucial. Below is a list of items that need daily attention:
o Cleaning of the litter box at least once a day o Make time to play with your ferret: it may sound like a lot but you should let your ferret out of it's cage and play with them 2 to 4 hours a day. o Change their food and water daily: food should be of high quality that is high in protein and fat, but low in fiber. o Wash their litter boxes with a proper scrub down every week o Provide a cage large enough for exercise: your ferret should be kept in a cage unless it is supervised. Keep the cage in a temperature-controlled environment and out of direct sunlight. Temperature over 80 degrees can be harmful. Here are a few grooming tips for your ferret: o Nails: Ferrets nails grow very quickly and should be trimmed every couple of weeks. The time frame for their nails to grow could vary depending on your ferret. When clipping their nails, make sure that you do not clip to close to the visible red vein that you see on their nail. You need to leave a little space after the vein. Invest in a pair of special ferret clippers for their nails; this will make it easier to clip them properly. If it's your first time, make sure you talk to your vet to know the proper way to clip them. If you are not confident of clipping their nails then it is advised to get someone properly trained to do them for you. o Brushing: Your ferret needs regular brushing especially when they are in their shedding season. If you fail to brush your ferret you will soon find a ball of hair. Ferret brushes can be easily bought from pet stores and investing in one is a wise decision. o Tooth Brushing: Although brushing your ferret's teeth could be a bit difficult, you should try using a bit of cat toothpaste that is flavored. You will have to use your finger to brush their teeth. Brushing their teeth will help, however it is very difficult to do a perfect job. Give it a try and stay with it.

Louis was my first cat, so I had quite the learning experience when I brought him home and discovered that, unlike the dogs of my childhood, this little guy could climb my cabinets, get into my cabinets, fit through seemingly impossible spaces, and cause more mischief and mayhem than I ever thought possible for a five pound kitten. I’m exaggerating, but only slightly.

Based on my experiences with baby Lou and later with Emory and Olivia, I’ve compiled my top ten list for making your house cat friendly. This is a non-exhaustive list, but these have been the most pertinent issues I’ve faced in my cat-mom tenure.
Watch for poisonous houseplants! Cats like to chew on things, so make sure that whatever plants you have around are safe for cats for when they inevitably decide to give them a taste. Websites like PetMD and ASPCA have some great resources for determining what plants are cat safe!
Keep breakable trinkets in display cases. I think that this tip can be pretty disappointing, since it means limiting the display of cute trinkets, but it is definitely a necessary one. As I write this, for example, Olivia walked across the tv stand and knocked off a figurine and two DVD cases. So, for your breakable figurines and trinkets, I recommend getting plexiglass or acrylic display cases to keep prying paws away. Stores like the Container Store and Joann’s have some awesome display case options that will keep your kitty friend from smacking your breakables off a bookshelf. Alternatively, if you’re able to, you can try putting shelves up where your fur baby can’t reach.
Put charging cords away when they’re not in use. I’ve noticed that cats like to chew on things or “taste” things, especially if the item in question is not a cat toy. Unfortunately, this often includes charging cords or other electrical wires. Not only is it incredibly frustrating to have your furbaby chew through an $80 computer charger, but it’s also potentially dangerous for the kitty. A good way to keep kitties from going after cords is to put them away in drawers when they’re not in use. I’ve found that wrapping up longer wires to remove the slack in the cord seems to reduce Louis and Olivia’s interest in them. Simultaneously, it’s important to provide cats with proper toys and exercise, so they don’t start going after cords out of boredom. Click here for some of Louis and Olivia’s favorite scratchers and toys.
Keep makeup and perfume – especially those in glass canisters – in drawers and cabinets. If your cat is anything like Olivia, all the glass you own is going to end up on the floor. Unfortunately, expensive perfumes and skincare products are no exception (RIP Chanel Coco Noir bottle, broken at the hand of little Lou), even on carpeted floors. I recommend coming up with some kind of drawer organization system to keep these things away from interested paws. I’ve had pretty good luck with some of the acrylic storage kits from the Container Store and this awesome two tier cabinet basket from Amazon.
Watch for heated stovetops. My cats are climbers, and I’ve never had much luck keeping them off countertops (read: I gave up and stopped trying). Because of this, I’m careful never to leave a hot stove uncovered. Anytime I use the stove, I leave the pot or pan on until the cook top cools. This means that I either leave whatever extra food is in the pot there until after I eat (by which point the stove is usually cooled) or I fill the empty pot or pan with a few inches of water and leave it to cool. The cats seem to understand that they’re supposed to stay away from the stove area when there are pots and pans on it, but you can never be too careful, so keep an eye on them anyway!
Supervise toys with sparkly streamers. You know the stick toys that look like cheerleader pom poms? They’re a huge hit. Cats everywhere love them. Unfortunately, though, these things seem to be just oversized strips of tinsel. If your cat is anything like mine, they’re going to try to eat the streamers. I don’t leave these toys out unsupervised anymore since I heard from a vet student friend that the sparkly strips can cause lacerations as it passes through the stomach and intestines (click here for more information on this issue). Plus, by keeping these toys put away, it makes them even more special when you bring them out for supervised play!
Alternatively, check out Lou and Liv’s absolute favorite toys, sparkly pom pom balls!
Get cat nail clippers and learn to use them! Cats scratch things; it’s a simple fact. While they may scratch out of boredom sometimes, it’s more of a biological necessity than anything else. Scratching is an important part of kitty health, since it allows them to basically file their nails and to stretch their whole bodies. Therefore, besides getting plenty of scratchers or carpeted cat trees, it’s in your best interest to learn to trim their nails yourself. Your vet can teach you to trim their nails regularly, and once you get the hang of it, it’s really no work at all. I personally prefer this nail scissor style, since I find it easier to use than the spring loaded ones, which seem more appropriate for thicker dog nails in my opinion. Plus, the nail scissor style is handy for cutting yarn, so I keep them around for my Critter Crafting projects. Whatever kind of clipper you decide to get, your kitty and your furniture will thank you.
Keep breakable and sharp kitchen items put away when not in use. Plates, utensils, knives, glasses, and any other breakables should be kept away whenever you’re not using them. Cats love to knock things off counters or to accidentally move things around while they try to figure out what they are. Just because the knife is sharp doesn’t mean your kitty friend is going to stay away from it. Relatedly, consider using glasses that are not plastic or that have tops for your morning coffee and the like, since kitties are curious and like to put their paws in things and pull them over…. I recommend Hydroflasks, like this one, and Yeti cups; we use them almost exclusively while at home. (Plus, these cups are great for the environment! I use my Yeti for Starbucks runs all the time.)
Provide your cat with plenty of stimulation.Cats are natural hunters, so they need outlets for their instincts so they don’t start taking them out on you and your furniture. Supply your cat with plenty of toys and scratchers to keep them entertained, like Louis’ favorite catnip toy and Louis’ favorite scratcher. We’ve compiled a list of some of Louis and Olivia’s favorite toys, scratchers, and beds here. We can’t recommend the sling bed enough!
Processed with VSCOcam with p5 preset
Secure hanging pictures!Guess why this one was added to this list. Because Olivia just tried to knock a hanging painting off the wall. We’ve had pretty good success by using the 3M Command Hook mounting strips at the bottom corners of pictures. This keeps the pictures hanging straight, despite both Olivia and Louis’ best attempts to remove them.
Do you have any tips for making your house cat friendly!? Cats are clever little creatures, so we’re always open to new ideas on how to keep them (and our stuff!) safe.

How to pick the best dog grooming services
It is necessary for pet parents to find the best pet grooming services for their dog. Experts recommend that you look out for cleanliness and friendless while handling the pet. A clean grooming salon with a calm and cheerful pet groomer is invaluable. Some tips to help you pick include:
Pick a Patient Groomer
Ensure that the potential groomer is willing to speak to you about the pet so you can feel comfortable enough to leave the pet with him. The best pet groomers always stay calm despite being under fire. Grooming is naturally stressful, but an experienced groomer knows how to handle such crazy situations. You need the dog’s grooming session to feel like a holiday trip to the spa and not a stressful activity.
Keep the Communication Lines Open
Look for a good pet groomer that is upfront and opens about the processes of grooming. Do not be scared to ask about price, how long it will take or any other question that bothers you. It is better to be informed so that you can make plans in time to avoid surprises. It doesn’t matter if you choose a mobile dog grooming business or a pet grooming salon, it is important to speak about your expectations as well as desires with the groomer.
Address Behavior Concerns As Soon As Possible
Open communication is a two-way street; dog owners must be honest and upfront about the special requests they may have or behavior issues before booking the appointment. This way, the groomer can be aware of potential issues ahead of time. If your pet is difficult or nervous when it is time for grooming, you should inform the groomer.
Find out if he has a similar experience with grooming such dogs as well as the measures that are taken to soothe the dog. It does not benefit you or the dog to being in an uncomfortable situation. It should be a dog spa day and not a concentration camp.
Be Specific about Your Preferred Dog Haircuts
Like when you visit a barber or salon, it is best to be unequivocal about what style you want. To make it easier for the groomer, you can also come in with pictures of what you need. For simpler styles, you may not need a picture. Also, if you have visited the groomer before, you won’t need one.
Read more: How to hire a professional pet groomer?
What should you bring for your first session?
Normally, a good groomer will have all the equipment needed to groom your dog properly, all you may need to bring is a leash to keep the dog in check. But if your dog has some special needs and you want to ensure that the result meets your taste, you can bring some extra equipment. Some include:
Flea comb
If your house is situated in a flea-prone area, you can take a flea comb with you. During the season, it becomes more important.
Also, dogs with long coats may need extra tools to achieve perfect results. Some include:
Along comb or undercoat rake
This helps remove undercoat hairs. If the dog is also thickly coated as well as long-haired, you will need an undercoat rake for perfect results.
Many groomers prefer to use a wide toothed comb first before changing to the finer toothed or narrower ones. This method is deal when your pet has snarly hair. However, if you plan to maintain the coat, a fine-toothed comb can work with a slicker brush.
Mat rake, detangler solution, and mat splitter
For tangles and mats, groomers may require a detangler. Electric clippers are used in extreme cases. A mat splitter or rake can also thin it out.
Shedding tool
This tool helps to remove the soft undercoat especially when the dog is shedding profusely. Even though it looks dangerous, it is completely safe. The blade has teeth like a serrated knife. However, they are not sharp. They are normally shaped like a loop, which is attached to a handle, and this helps it to pull out the heavy undercoat with ease.
The slicker brush: this is for removing the dead hair while stimulating coat and skin.
For dogs with shorter coats, you should consider getting these grooming tools:
Short curry brush: this tool removed dead hair and polishes the coat. It also helps get rid of the loose fur.
Short-toothed comb: this removes dead hair and can get through any tangles with ease.
Slicker brush: this tool removes the dead hair in short-haired dogs and stimulates their coat and skin.
Things you should not do before going to a dog groomer
Going to a groomer is an excellent way to keep your dog looking his best. All groomers are different, but there are some general guidelines to follow before going to the grooming appointment. Here are the rules to follow:
Be there on time
When you go late for a grooming appointment, you could cause overcrowding. You will also cause inconvenience and stress for other customers and their pets. Also, you may miss the appointment and cause your pet to wait behind in the kennel until an opening comes up.
Take a stroll with the dog and ensure that he eliminates before going
Your pet may not want to eliminate by just playing in the yard, so a walk will help, it can be annoying and stressful for the pet if he has to go to the loo during grooming. When he does, it may take more time to clean and sterilize.
Keep the leash at the shop
Many grooming shops have made provision for several doors, gates, and barricades to keep your dog safe in the shop. Be sure to safely secure the leash to prevent the dog from leaving if someone opens the door. Also, a leash eases the entire process for the groomer and makes it faster.
Speak with the groomer about the dog’s temperament or other health issues
When you dog hates some aspects of grooming or has sensitive areas on his body, you should inform the groomer of these issues. It is necessary to inform the groomer of the health condition of the dog. Illnesses such as epilepsy, heart murmurs, neurologic disorders, arthritis, injuries, recent surgeries, and dental disease must be disclosed to the groomer. Any other health concern that may affect the behavior of the dog should be discussed as well.
Follow the advice of your groomer on appointment intervals
The groomer is in the best position to gauge the time between appointments. All this is based on the coat type, length of the trim, breed, home environment and your ability to care for the pet’s coat. Sensitive dogs often need more regular grooming routines so they can develop a trusting relationship with the professional groomer. Grooming regularly also helps maintain proper nail growth because overgrown nails cause health issues in the long run.
Offer a tip for a good job
Grooming is emotionally and physically demanding. It requires expensive and specialized equipment. Many groomers receive payment on a commission basis so if you love their job, be sure to add a tip to say, “Thank you”.
Do not assume that you can leave the pet past the pickup time
Many grooming shops offer individual appointments, and others keep the pet all day. Always respect the groomer’s request to take the dog home at the agreed time. This helps prevent overcrowding and helps him keep to his schedule. Failure to do this will incur an extra fee.
Do not come earlier than requested for pick up
If the groomer gives you time to come and get the dog, do not come earlier than the requested time. When your dog sees you, he may get unnecessarily excited. This can prevent the groomer from getting the job perfectly. In worse cases, the dog can be injured if he keeps moving.
Do not use vague instruction details
When it comes to grooming, there are several catchphrases used to describe cuts. Some include Teddy bear trim and puppy cut. These phrases mean something different to different groomers. Avoid using them and stick to clearer instructions. You can opt for actual lengths instead of vague description. If you have a picture to show the groomer, bring it in.
Do not ask your groomer for vet advice
Dog groomers are trained, but their job doesn’t include giving out veterinary advice to customers. If you have any concerns about your dog’s health, talk to a vet.
Do not have unrealistic expectations for the dog or groomer
All dogs have limitations. Some do not tolerate blow drying or brushing while others can barely stand for long. Always listen to your groomer because he will be more familiar with the dog’s abilities. It will also adapt your hopes for a service or haircut.
