“ of course i do. ” well, okay, perhaps that was a lie. velouria hadn't thought of an out for this situation, and spending her time by the buffet really wasn't productive for formulating a good plan either. when siegbert had invited her to a ball as a way to help introduce her to nohrian nobility, he seemed to have been fretting over what they would think of her. the wolfskin hadn't ever been to one of these functions after all, so this would be a lot of them's first exposure to one.

it was important to make a good impression on them for diplomatic reasons, but also because the prince was all fussy over them thinking well on her. he wanted them to love her as much as he did, or whatever. she thinks that was something he had mentioned once or twice preparing for this.

had she at all written up or prepared a script for how to introduce herself? absolutely not. but once she finishes the cheese square she had been eyeing up, she lays down the toothpick and then takes the prince's hand without warning. the pair of them, velouria pulling the prince along, approach a group of nobles she had watched siegbert bow and prattle off to earlier.

“ hi. i'm the love of siegbert's life. i'd like to spend tonight with him alone. thanks. ”

she even does a little curtsie before taking the cavalier's hand again, dragging him elsewhere before he can formulate a proper addition to the conversation. was it a waste of time dolling up for all this just to say that? maybe. but it was just the right words to say, if you asked her.

“ yes. very. ” whispers exchange in a small corner of the tactics meeting for corrin's army. though she had been brought here because hisame had been insistent upon gathering everyone to attend, she was beginning to get frightfully bored by all the talks. she could transform and fight, and she'd listen to the commands she was given so long as they weren't completely stupid. couldn't they just report to her on what they decided and she could go voice her dissent ( assuming she had any ) later?

the tricky part was waiting for hisame to stop paying attention to them. or siegbert or matoi while they were at it. drats, why did they get so many people who cared?

“ if you can get us out without getting us kicked back in, i'll go play a game with you or whatever, i guess. ”
