courtesy of Q & ‘Brother’ by Kodaline, my brain has been stuck in Caleb & Jisel Hell all day and now y’all shall suffer with me

- when Caleb almost dies because he’s a dumbass, Jisel scares herself with how much she panics. she’s only known him for like a couple years and he’s Aeridian, for the Goddess’ sake, but somehow he’s slipped into her heart and become the most important person in her life and now he’s going to die? just like that??

- Caleb wakes up to her beside him and instead of being mad or upset, she’s just. so fucking relieved he’s alive. and like, yeah, the way she hugs kind of hurts what with the broken ribs and rest of the shit his body’s healing from, but he just winds up clinging to her, too.

- when they stay up too late working on gov’t shit, they just crash in Caleb’s bed instead of Jisel walking all the way back to her chambers. the first time they were kinda like ‘oh haha we’re such dorks this will never happen again’ but they both realized that they slept so much better together than apart that it just became a normal thing

- Caleb sleeps on his stomach partially out of paranoia, and Jisel kinda curls up on her side in the curve of his rib-to-arm space

- You can p much insult Caleb in anyway and he’ll be like /shrug ‘yeah that’s true’ but if you insult Jisel, you discover really quickly why his family is known as the Bloodletter House

- Caleb drunkenly hooks up with the prince of a nearby country one (1) time, and Jisel just can’t fucking let it go. She gives him shit for years (’really?? the library??’), and Caleb’s kind of annoyed at first but also it’s such a change to have someone giving him crap and not have ulterior motives

- When Jisel first comes to Ancelm, Caleb like...dove into research on Capall and its culture - and promptly realized that nothing in the library was anything other than propaganda and consequently commissioned scholars to research and write accurate books on it

- At first, Jisel’s super paranoid because like. this is The Black Prince, Bloodletter, Evil Vile Aeridian Conqueror. and then she realizes that he is, in fact, a dumbass, and she’s kinda like ‘I have to save Arradine from you but also I have to save you from you??’

- both of them get nightmares p often

- Jisel kinda constantly has this public pressure to be a serious and legitimate politician and Caleb is essentially Alexander the Great 2.0, so people kinda expect their relationship to be either strictly business or incredibly, insufferably dull. in reality, they’re both so relieved to be able to relax around each other that they basically invent shitposting like 1500 years before the internet is invented

- early on, Jisel is high key horrified that Caleb’s pretty skilled at forging handwriting not for moral reasons so much as it directly opposes her view of him

- they get in Magneto/Xavier level ethical/philosophical debates. the entire citadel just kind of weeps when it starts
