❝ Here, I picked this out for you. ❞ Ezra said, pulling out the pie pumpkin that he'd been carrying around hoping to see Shea in the next few days, ❝ I was thinking we could carve a face into it like the silly human tradition. ❞ The smile on his face was evident, he'd always wanted to learn to carve a pumpkin. (Ezra to Shea)
UNPROMPTED ┊always accepting.
Who would've thought they'd reunite like this? Shea had been on his way back to the main part of the city when he had decided to make a quick detour towards a park to catch the view he'd see from a little bridge that stretched across a significant little lake. Supposedly, it was a nice place to have a secret rendezvous with a partner, but that reputation meant nothing to him. However, he seemed to find himself thinking of it when he saw a familiar figure on the other side of the bridge itself, his blond hair and ethereal, otherworldly aura confirming that the man in the distance was, in fact, Ezra. As the angel approached him, the young messenger of death hopped onto the bridge railing, stretching an arm high to wave at him as the distance between them shortened.
It was pure coincidence that Shea had run into his favorite person on the planet just after delivering a depressing message to a frail old lady not that long ago. Thankfully, his mood was instantly brightened by the warm presence of the angel he pretty much worshiped. As his gaze took in the pumpkin held in the angel's hands, the boy blinked curiously as he stared for a moment. The pumpkin in Ezra's hands was a tad smaller than the ones he had been seeing around out on porches and doorsteps.
❝ I thought humans carved much larger pumpkins but this will do. I've seen the little ones carve even smaller pumpkins than this, ❞ Shea chimed as he spread out his arms to help him balance on the railing of the bridge. As he carefully placed one foot in front of the other, he hummed a little tune to himself, a rhythm reminiscent of a popular Halloween movie that was commonly debated on being a Christmas season movie as well.

He turned to the angel as he gave him a bright smile, ❝ it's kind of funny how there's such fun festivities going on at this time of year, don't you think? Dressing up in scary costumes, pretending to be dead for a night, collecting tons of candy—it's all so... ❞ He trailed off uncertainly as he lifted his chin to look up at the rainbow colored sunset. Tilting his head as he mulled over how to continue his thought, Shea tucked his arms behind his head.
Ah, whatever. He didn't want to dampen the mood now by asking a stupid question about why humans even bothered with such pointless things when they'd all die soon enough anyway—not when he finally got to see Ezra after who knew how long. There was nothing else that could brighten up his day like his favorite angel over here.
Letting out a lighthearted laugh, the lavender haired boy attempted to shift the mood. He hopped down from the bridge railing and fell into step behind his friend. Quickening the pace of his strides to get a head start for a little jump, he pulled Ezra into a gentle headlock of sorts from behind as he wrapped an arm around his shoulder and pulled him close, ❝ what do you want to carve? I've seen a lot of scary faces on the pumpkins sitting at doorsteps. Or we could try carving something like ghosts and cats or even dancing skeletons! ❞
