it’s easy to walk with your head down.

you’ve always did — never knowing what kind of color the sky was, nor an amalgamation of what features was on the person talking to you.

it’s easy. easier than facing everything as they all know what kind of twist your mouth does when something disgusts you, or how your brow twitches when you disagree with their words. it’s easy, it’s simple, and it’s familiar.

so, when you’re surrounded by runes that glimmer and glow, drawn in the shape of your doom, words that speak death in a language you don’t know start to fill your senses— all you can do is look down. look down at the cuffs of ice laden heavily on your wrists and the way your ankles bleed if you twist or turn in the metal prison they’re connected to; but still, you listen to the softness of a mage’s voice — and walk towards the outline of your heart written in blood and oath.

it’s easy to just— walk with your head down, yea? because your neck would be too numb to feel the slice of a blade through desperately, tired flesh.

it’s easy to walk with your head down. but you always wanted to know what shade of blue the sky could be.

that is the last mercy you are ever given. before your ear presses against cobblestone— headless body dropping to the ground with a quiet, twinkling thud.

oh, how nice it must’ve been to look up at such a beautiful view everyday…
