I’m going to try my best to spread light on Jokers character...

  I see Joker as another Vinny. When Vinny was first introduced, he was not presented in the best light. It took time to understand Vinny’s motives and past life. Joker is very similar in this way. Here are certain instances where his character is revealed (good and bad, because he is a morally grey character):

1. Joker is consumed by the thrill of fighting.

“Consuming the forbidden fruit” 

  There are many instances where Joker is thrilled when in combat. Firstly, when he came across a boxer who was asking random people on the street to fight him for one minute, Joker pushed through the crowd to demonstrate how over-confident this man was. This was the first time we saw his chilling grin. In a recent episode we can see him and Owen going at it but not really in which revealed his inner demons. This includes his desire to find someone who can match his strength (Dom V.S Joker; Owen V.S Joker). 

2. Caring for his brothers by sacrificing himself. 

  Again, we know he has multiple brothers, but have only seen one. We do not know his name, but we do know he is Joker’s younger brother. We also know that his younger brother chooses to skip school to earn more money. To be more specific he works at a construction site, which Joker does not approve and clearly wants him to get his education. Unfortunately, his younger brother doesn’t see it this way and wants his older brother to “mind his own business”. Resulting in Joker not being able to properly focus while in the cage, and being stomped on. We can also assume in season three episode seven that Joker tries to hide the fact that he works in an underground fighting club.

Of course this means that most likely his parents aren’t around. This makes you think he does this every day how sweet. It is troubled to know that he involves himself in the fighting ring every night to earn money for his family. I can’t image the physical damage, especially to his brain, he takes from all those nights. 

3. Beating the powerless.

  These scenes were always hard for me to read. 

This is one of the reasons why people don’t like Joker as a whole, which is understandable. It’s hard to watch someone be mercilessly beat when they are powerless against their perpetrator. Especially people like the manga crew who afterwards you feel incredibly sorry for and downright depressed. Although we haven’t gotten this information yet, his behavior makes me believe psychical abuse was involved in his childhood. More specifically, extreme abuse. If this is true, then he is seeing these people that he is beating the life out of as his younger self. There are many stories that I have heard from online and the people I know that they chose to run away because they believed their abuser will someday kill them. I know this may be going a bit far, but this is what I can gather from his excessive and irrational behavior. 

4. Say NO to drugs. 

  Lastly, he chose not to take the drug that Sangho gave to the Sabbath crew.

Season 3 Episode 105 (Part l)

  We’ve just discovered that Jay’s mother shunned her own brother (Jay’s uncle) after the drug incident. It’s not her fault what happened to her brother, but her behavior definitely played a role in his suicide. Imagine being wrongfully accused of a crime that destroys your career and media chooses to further humiliate you. This will result in being shunned by society, so it is reasonable to expect Jay’s uncle to go to his family to share the truth and gain empathy from his family. But as we now see this had simply not occurred. This just further proves how Jay’s mother has no excuse to be the way she is towards her son. In an earlier episode after Jay returns to his mothers “home” Jay refuses to leave the Hummingbird crew. Jay’s mother of course was not glad and left his room in a fit of anger. In this fit of anger we get to see why she doesn’t want Jay to ride; a result of her brothers passing. None of this makes sense though. Her brothers fate does not mean Jay’s fate will be the same. And now we know she shunned him. She simply has no reason to do what she is doing besides having control over her son. 

( It’s kind of funny but also not how Joker can just peacefully sit there chewing on an apple while someones being choked out, oh jeez)

  Now we get this new detail. Sangho has been paying people to get detailed information on certain people (such as Vinny) and he looks over this information. I’m bringing this up due to the Sabbath crew. Both Joker and Wooin have stated that they are “forced” to do the what they do. This is of course is hard to believe, but what if what they are saying is true? Let me go into further detial. The person who obtained information on Vinny had commented to Sangho how Vinny has quite a story. Hmmm, that’s interesting. We know Vinny has a complicated background and needs money for his mothers surgery. Is Sangho wanting to reach out to Vinny due to this reason? (the answer is given, sort of, in later episodes that have not yet been translated) It seems as if Sangho is reaching out to the needy for his own benefit, as expected. As of now, we know that Wooin is working for Sangho for the fun of it (asshole), but Joker seems to be different. I can assume that Joker has been “working” at the fight club as an underground fighter before he met Sangho. Sangho reached out to him as a result of him gaining information on Joker’s background. We ourselves don’t know much on Joker’s background, besides him having multiple brothers, makes dinner for them, and wants the reward (desperate just like Vinny), but we are aware from this information that Joker himself is desperate to rake in money. If you haven’t watched Squid Game then please do, but all of what I said relates to this game. This world is ruled by money, no matter where you are. Money is based on our survival. You can’t blame someone for letting go of some of their morals to gian some money. Except if the money is for selfish reasons. But sometimes desperation for money comes from unreasonable expenses. Someone who doesn’t go against the law can easily fall into debt due to this reason (f*ck capitalism) Many millennials have to return back home simply because they can’t afford to live. How sad is that. When you’re in your twenties you should be able to enjoy your life and not have to be worrying about how unreasonably expensive your student loans are, how you’re going to pay for your next meal, if you’re going to be able to pay your water bill, etc. I also got to add that most jobs don’t pay enough money for cost of living and other essentials in modern times. In this sort of desperation morals don’t play a role. It’s human nature to want to survive. At the beginning of the story, Vinny was somewhat different and would beat on people who pissed him off or rubbed him the wrong way. He would use people to get his way. As of now, he’s changed, he’s still desperate for money because he doesn’t want to lose his mother. If he didn’t change his ways he could easily fall into Sangho’s trap.

Mia Kim (Part I)

  I’m just going to start by saying this, Mia as a character doesn’t get enough credit nor appreciation. The audience disliked her character from the very beginning, just because she was in the “way” of Shelly’s and Jay’s relationship. which is utter bullshit Jay was in love with Mia to some degree, but never had the ability to tell her his honest feelings. Neither did she. This lead them to part ways romantically and fall in love with other people. Now, here is my more in depth analysis for this wonderful lady:

  Mia’s personality may be described as shy, innocent, reserved your normal introvert. These characteristics of hers were shown through part I and II of the story. She was bullied throughout her life affecting her self-esteem. This gives reason as to why she never confessed her immense feelings towards Jay. She believed her worth was never enough. This was one of the reasons the audience grew disdain towards her character. This includes the “rivalry” between her and Shelly. I’m going to say this again, Shelly was the intrusion in Jay’s life. Jay never asked Shelly to be by his side at all times. Additionally, Jay still had feelings for Mia when Shelly arrived. Of course this was put in the story to add drama, but this gives no reason for people to dislike Mia’s character. I have a few things to say about this, but I’ll only speak one. This shows how immature and apathetic fans within Windbreaker can be as with any fandom. 

Now the question is, when did her development begin?   

  Her mindset begin to change when she was recruited to be a model. Of course this was a shock to her, but she chose to fight her insecurities and involve herself in something completely new. I believed the first person she told was Minu. She chose to keep it hidden at first because she believed if she went spreading around the information, people would get a bad take on her. The fact that she was able to tell Minu about this shows why they are so close now. 

  Now, one of her next hardships involves Hwangyeon’s devious deeds. Her recruiter (who knows Hwangyeon personally) brought her along with him to have dinner. Hwangyeon set this up so he would be able to race with Jay (because he knew Jay and Mia had relations). Hwangyeon’s “friend” then takes a secretive photo of Mia posting it to the media as if she is spending her time with random men for the “enjoyment”. This photo (and others): 

  In less than a day, her peers got a hold of this information and took it into their own hands. Many spreading the untruthful words of her character. This then reminds her of her past life of bullying, which she tried too hard to get past, and completely breaks down and refuses to go back. Her friends try to convince her to go back, but she refuses. Shelly then steps in and tells her that her selfish actions are hurting those around her. She realizes that the best thing she could do is go back even stronger and fight the fight, in which she did.
