When Rose finally got back to her apartment, she was surprised to see that it was already inhabited—of course, in the package she had left for her friends, she had left keys to her place, but she hadn’t expected it to be overrun with Titans bullshit. Rose lifted the edge of a piece of paper from the table gingerly, as if it might bit her. Really, she was just pissed to have to come back to any mess at all—while normal Rose was used to a little bit of clutter, this version of her was meticulous to a fault. She couldn’t just let mess or clutter just sit, not when she had so many plates spinning just to keep her life running and to keep from getting caught. “Whoever’s in here: I’m not armed, but I’m fucking pissed. Don’t be stupid.”

Connor and Eddie had never been all that close, but now that his friends were more or less ending up crazy or arrested or just disappearing altogether, he was holding onto the few acquaintances he had in the city to keep himself afloat. He snapped off a piece of chocolate and started nibbling on the end as they sat too high up for NOVA agents to notice them, but low enough that they could see if anyone needed their help on the ground. “I’m a little nervous about this now,” Connor admitted hesitantly. “I did not like jail.”

Harvey took a deep breath and let it out slowly as he stood in front of the NOVA agents. “Come on, fellas, you all know who I am,” he said, rubbing his hands together to mask the light sheen of sweat on his palms. Even with his expert manipulation and status, he found it hard to negotiate with the psychopaths they had hired at NOVA. It seemed like they only ended up with the worst of the worst there, and even for someone like Harvey, it was a lot. “I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to come after me, with my clearance to be out after curfew.” He paused. “And this young man is with me. Keep moving, please. There are other streets on your patrol, I’m sure.”

Jason spent most of his time these days scoping out the next target. It wasn’t very easy, now that everyone had gotten wise to the vigilantes running around Star City and had taken steps to ensure that they would not be found in the midst of their wrongdoing, lest they incur heroic wrath, but Jason wasn’t so scrupulous. It didn’t matter if the asshole was in the middle of an Illuminati meeting or he was just buying groceries—Jason would take them out. He was settled on a rooftop, waiting for one of the higher ups at NOVA to head to a night meeting, his camera pressed against his eye as he watched the building intently. He was so laser-focused, he started tuning out everything around him.

Eddie had to have figured out by now that Rose was an entirely different person than when he knew her. Sure, he knew about all the time that she had spent under Slade’s thumb, what she had done when she was under his influence, but he had never actually seen it firsthand. Now that she was brainwashed by Slade again, he was seeing it with fresh eyes. She wondered if she scared him. A terrible part of her hoped she did.

“Hiya, Eddie,” she said, her hands in her pockets as she walked towards him casually. She was known now. Ravager was known now, internationally, as someone who should not be trifled with. It was enough to make her seem like she was larger than life even though she was nothing more than a pawn for her father’s plans. Even without her free will, she was lethal—and Eddie probably wasn’t used to seeing that side of her. “Did you miss me?” She paused. “Don’t feel any pressure to say you did. I don’t think anyone did.”

Connor knew that things were hard—he wasn’t going to pretend that they weren’t. He knew that it was dangerous to be a hero in times like these. He knew that it wasn’t the best idea to be out after curfew, but he also knew that he had a duty to this city. He was getting good at memorizing the NOVA patrol routes—he had almost gotten them all perfectly mapped and timed in his head to make sure that he wasn’t going to end up getting caught. He didn’t have a death wish. 

It was during one of these times that he needed to hide somewhere before some lone NOVA agents separated from the patrol groups came dangerously close to catching him. He dangled from the ledge of the roof by a grappling hook arrow, knocking frantically on the window with one hand as he waited for Eddie to open up. “Come on, come on, open up, please, open up!”
